> 3 dayGOOD LOCKS FOR A FEW YEARS BUT NOW MANUFACTURER DEFECT IN SOME LOCK SETS.Let me begin by saying that I have purchased from Amazon and installed hundreds of these locks over the past several years.I have a cabinet shop and use them on my products. For the most part I have been happy with the locks, occasionally I would have a lock that would stick or not work properly.I usually order and install at least 30 individual locks each week.About a month ago I had a set of locks that the magnet would not open the lock through a cabinet door. The latch on the lock usually presses in with little effort but on these locks the latch was stiffer than normal.I thought maybe it was just a bad set and returned them to Amazon . Since then I have purchase about another 25 sets of locks.Out of that 20 I had to return 11 of them with the same issue. The problem is with the whole lock set and not individual locks in the pack.On one of my orders for 6 packs only two packs works properly. To see what the problem is I took a good working lock and a defective lock apart.Inside the working lock there is a thin small spring that is wound 4 times. The defective lock the spring is a little thicker and it wound 5 times. With the thicker stronger spring the magnet is not strong enough to open the through cabinet door .Im not sure if the manufacturer has meant to install a stronger spring for some reason but if they did the key will not work through a 3/4 thick cabinet door like they have for years. The problem is not specific to Amazon purchases.I went to a local retailer to purchase two pack of 8 locks while waiting for my Amazon replacements. One of those packs work fine and the other one has the stiff spring and would not work As I am writing this review I just received my 6 replacement packs from Amazon,Four of the packs are good and two of them have the stiffer spring.Hopefully the manufacturer is not in the process of changing to the stiffer springs in all their locks. If so the key will not work through most cabinet doors

> 3 dayOnce installed properly, they work well. The template to line up the catch holes with the lock holes is a little tricky to use the first couple of times. If youre a little handy that shouldnt be a problem. Make sure you properly mark and pre-drill your screw holes before you install so you dont split the cabinets/drawers. Its also nice to be able to switch them to unlocked mode at any time. They have been installed on brand new cabinets and drawers without any problems. One negative: They only include one magnetic key. Otherwise, solid product. And ive used other child locks.

> 3 dayThese locks are really great! I was worried if we used the cheaper plastic safety latches, our daughter could still get in between the cabinet and the door and pinch her fingers. These totally eliminate that possibility. It does take some time to install them, but I figured almost any option that would work for our kitchen (we have knob handles on our cabinets) would require installation. I also especially like that they can be turned off so if shes not in the kitchen (we also have a gate blocking our kitchen from the rest of our house) and we are cooking and need to get in and out of cabinets quickly, we can set the locks so they arent on. Our kitchen is small enough this pack did all the lower cabinets, and we have enough left over to do the cabinets in the bathroom vanity (well just have to get a separate key or just a high powered magnet as others have suggested). I have recommended these to all of our friends as we are really happy with how they work. Weve had them installed now for months and have no complaints at all!

> 3 dayThis is a clever system that really works well. It is so much better than the other terrible cabinet and drawer locks out there. All you do is wave the magnetic key in front of the lock to open. The fact that you can disable the lock temporarily is also a huge plus. The hardware is plastic but is very sturdy and seems well made. Unlike some of the other lock systems which allow the cabinet to open a bit by design to allow you to stick your hand in and unlock the mechanism, these do not allow the drawer or cabinet to open at all when locked and are less of a pinch hazard. The installation instructions seemed extremely complicated, so I just skipped that and marked everything out myself, drilled the holes, and installed the hardware and it worked perfectly. If you are working in a small drawer, it may be a challenging time getting the hardware installed. I had to use a stubby screw driver in one drawer to get the screws in. Little bit of a pain but not that big of a deal. Larger drawers and cabinet doors were a breeze. Another other reviewer made a comment that these can be unlocked inadvertently with a large piece of metal: 1) I have not noticed this, and 2) why would toddlers be wielding large pieces of metal? I actually couldnt even unlock it using another magnet (although a fairly weak one). Maybe they updated the product since then, but I think it works great.

20-11-2024These are the best child protective locks I have ever used. What makes them so good is that, when the grandkids go home, you can turn them off so you can get back to normal. Also, it only takes a minute to walk around the kitchen and bathrooms and re-arm them when the grandkids are coming. Also, the mounting templates that come with the locks are ingenious, although the targets for holes are a bit off from where they should be. THAT SAID, THE HARDWARE THAT COMES WITH THEM IS NOT VERY GOOD. The screws included with the locks should be standard pan-head Phillips #6 sheet metal screws, not the junk screws they send. Why? The heads of the screws are too small; for some installations, you have to tighten the screws down quite hard, and this will damage the mounting flanges on the locks and strikes. If you buy these, locks, go to your local hardware store and get a box of #6 pan head Phillips sheet metal screws, and throw out the stock screws. Ive installed nearly 40 of these, so I have some experience. Also, get a box of #6 washers. Using both washers and good screws will ensure that you can tighten the screws enough to secure the locks/strikes in place without damaging their mounting flanges. Those little tykes will bang on the cabinet doors trying to get in, so you need to make sure the locks and strikes dont budge.

> 3 dayThese work great once they are installed - however, I did have a heck of a time figuring out how to get the first one in. It probably took the better part of an hour and a half to get the lock and the catch lined up properly, with several incorrectly drilled pilot holes into the cabinet face as a result. I think the difficulty is that we have frameless (IKEA) cabinets, so I was installing the locking system to the side of the drawers. After installing 4 of these locks on the highest priority cabinets, I think we are good for now. The installed locks work well, except I think one of them needs a slight adjustment which I think can be achieved by nudging the lock within the wide screw opening so that it catches the catch a little better. Overall, these are great because you dont see anything on the outside of your cabinets, they can be turned off when you dont need the cabinets locked, and they seem to be sturdy.

> 3 dayThese are great childproof locks. I bough them because I now have two granddaughters, and needed to secure some areas. My husband installed them, and said that the template that came with it was very helpful. They work best on the cabinet doors. They work on my thicker drawers as well, but Unlocking with the key, isn’t as easy as on the thinner cabinets. We couldn’t make them work on our lazy Susan cupboards though, and we have two of those. I wished I had known that at the time I ordered them, even though I would have ordered them anyway. Maybe someone said in a review that they didn’t work on rotating cupboard. But I didn’t see it. These are so much better than the plastic ones we had when I had my children 40 years ago. When locked, they don’t open a bit. No little fingers are going to get pinched. Great price, and arrived when expected. If anyone knows of similar locks that do work on lazy Susan cupboard types, I’d be interested in hearing.

25-11-2024These work great for keeping little ones out, they do get annoying for adults at times though. I find myself using the key to open a drawer, setting the key down, closing the drawer, only realizing I need something else, then picking up the key again and unlocking the device. Sometimes this happens over and over. It sounds like I am being absurd for being annoyed with this minor inconveniences, but it gets a little annoying having to get the key EVERY SINGLE TIME to open a door. That is not the fault of the product, that was by design and there is nothing they can do about it. It still is good for what it is intended to do. Install was not the easiest, the instructions and little sticker guides for drill holes were just confusing for me, so I just eyeballed the mount points and that worked fine for me. Can my wife install them? Doubt it, but she is not very handy either. So you need to have basic hand tool experience I would say to install these.

> 3 dayMy two toddlers love to open their dresser drawers and pull out all of their neatly folded clothes. The traditional baby locks that allow you to open cabinets a couple inches wouldnt work because my kids could still reach the clothes and the wraparound locks dont work for us because my daughter knows how to get them open. These locks to the rescue. They dont allow you to open the drawer at all until unlocked which is great but this perk comes with a few downsides: 1) The key. Were always misplacing the key. Regular fridge magnets arent strong enough and without the key you cant access the contents your securing so weve had some frustrating mornings trying to find the key so I can get my kids dressed. This can obviously be rectified by having more than one key (but theyre expensive!) or not being careless with it like I apparently am. 2) Install. These wouldnt work on our dresser as is because the drawer face was extended past the actual box part of the drawer. This meant that no matter how we installed it, the magnet part of the lock wouldnt reach the piece its supposed to hold on to in order to keep the drawer shut. My husband rectified this by custom cutting pieces of wood to screw into the dresser, which we then attached the locks to. This was a time consuming process since each drawer level and size had to be different but in the end its working perfectly. 3) Finding the lock after installed. Again, really a trivial matter in the grand scheme of things but sometimes I have to slide that key back and forth on the dresser to get the right spot to unlock it. Maybe if your doing cabinets and can instal in the same lower hand corner or something this wouldnt be an issue for you but for us its annoying. Id definitely recommend these locks if the others dont work for your situation. Learn from our mistake and invest in an extra key though.

> 3 dayI know these are probably made for young children, but I bought them because my son has autism and he is no longer little - he can reach all the same cabinets I can because hes almost a teenager. He thinks he can do more than he actually can... such as experimental cooking in the middle of the night :-( So I bought a pack of these to test them out. Figured if they didnt work, Id give them to someone with smaller kids to lock them out of lower cabinets. Installed one and tried to pull the door open afterwards - I am a very big, tall woman - door didnt budge. Id have to literally rip it off the hinges to open it. Have not had any trouble as of yet with my son opening any cabinets now. Might install them on drawers too, havent decided yet. Of course this means I have to wear the key on my person (even in my sleep, or hide it well) but small sacrifice for a kitchen that doesnt look like a cyclone hit it.
