Greater than one weekThese are great childproof locks. I bough them because I now have two granddaughters, and needed to secure some areas. My husband installed them, and said that the template that came with it was very helpful. They work best on the cabinet doors. They work on my thicker drawers as well, but Unlocking with the key, isn’t as easy as on the thinner cabinets. We couldn’t make them work on our lazy Susan cupboards though, and we have two of those. I wished I had known that at the time I ordered them, even though I would have ordered them anyway. Maybe someone said in a review that they didn’t work on rotating cupboard. But I didn’t see it. These are so much better than the plastic ones we had when I had my children 40 years ago. When locked, they don’t open a bit. No little fingers are going to get pinched. Great price, and arrived when expected. If anyone knows of similar locks that do work on lazy Susan cupboard types, I’d be interested in hearing.

20-11-2024These things Im sure work fine on some cabinets, but definitely not on all. Our cabinet doors have that standard recessed area about an inch from the outer edge, that frames the center part of the door, for a nice decorative look. I thought we could screw this lock into the thick part of the door that goes around the edges - as it appears in the product shot. Maybe it was just us, but in our case, if we put the lock there, then it would end up too close to the door frame, making it impossible to close the door. So, we had to mount it a little farther away so it wouldnt hit the door frame and so that it would meet up with the latch plate when the doors were closed. Unfortunately, this meant having to drill a hole into the thinnest part of the cabinet (see attached photos). And yes, this did cut a hole all the way through, and the screws that come with it did pierce the exterior of the doors. Now the doors are ruined and one of the two locks I installed still doesnt work properly. The first one I put on works fine. It latches when you close the door. I put the other one on the door right next to it, and when you close the door, it appears to latch, but if you pull the door with just a little extra strength, it comes completely open without the use of the magnet key! Making it totally worthless. Another problem is that we have small round rubber bumper on the bottom and top corner of each door so that closing the doors is completely silent. With those bumpers on, you have to push the door really hard to get it to latch. And to unlatch it, you have to put the magnet up to the lock and then push the door hard to relieve the pressure on the lock so it will unlatch. I took the bumpers off the two doors I installed these locks on and it worked much better. It latches instantly and easily now, but we have to listen to the loud noise of wood banging wood every time one of the doors closes. In the last photo, you can see where I initially tried to mount the lock on the thicker part of the cabinet door. However, that put it way too close to the latch plate and the door frame and the door wouldnt close at all - the lock bumps into the door frame preventing it from closing. Where you see it in this photo is the exact distance it needs to be away from the door frame and the latch plate in order to work. It cant be any farther to the right or left - it has to be exactly here, and that puts it directly over the thinnest part of the door. It might have worked better if I had installed it so that it would latch from the top or bottom of the door (as shown in the product photos), but the top of the door is too high for my wife to reach, and if we installed it on the bottom, it would take up precious cabinet space as wed have to move a few things away to give the lock room to fit into the cabinet as you close the door. The cabinets are so full though, we didnt want to waste any unnecessary space. I didnt bother putting the rest on. No need to ruin all the cabinets, especially if theyre not all going to work. I dont know why the second one wont latch. Its installed EXACTLY the same way as the first one. But the lock just slips right out of the latch plate, when you give it a little extra tug. For me, this product just isnt designed well for some of the most common types of cabinet doors.

> 3 dayEasy to install. Comes with only one magnet of course, and the addition costs a fortune. Don’t buy the overpriced magnet, I’m using a harbor freight 2$ magnet set. Work like a charm. 5 stars for the product, minus 2 stars for greediness.

> 3 dayMy two toddlers love to open their dresser drawers and pull out all of their neatly folded clothes. The traditional baby locks that allow you to open cabinets a couple inches wouldnt work because my kids could still reach the clothes and the wraparound locks dont work for us because my daughter knows how to get them open. These locks to the rescue. They dont allow you to open the drawer at all until unlocked which is great but this perk comes with a few downsides: 1) The key. Were always misplacing the key. Regular fridge magnets arent strong enough and without the key you cant access the contents your securing so weve had some frustrating mornings trying to find the key so I can get my kids dressed. This can obviously be rectified by having more than one key (but theyre expensive!) or not being careless with it like I apparently am. 2) Install. These wouldnt work on our dresser as is because the drawer face was extended past the actual box part of the drawer. This meant that no matter how we installed it, the magnet part of the lock wouldnt reach the piece its supposed to hold on to in order to keep the drawer shut. My husband rectified this by custom cutting pieces of wood to screw into the dresser, which we then attached the locks to. This was a time consuming process since each drawer level and size had to be different but in the end its working perfectly. 3) Finding the lock after installed. Again, really a trivial matter in the grand scheme of things but sometimes I have to slide that key back and forth on the dresser to get the right spot to unlock it. Maybe if your doing cabinets and can instal in the same lower hand corner or something this wouldnt be an issue for you but for us its annoying. Id definitely recommend these locks if the others dont work for your situation. Learn from our mistake and invest in an extra key though.

> 3 dayPreface: Absolutely Freaking Amazing! Pros: 1) Easy to lineup and install. After the first or second, you become a pro. 2) Directions were easy to read and easy to follow. 3) Cost efficient 4) Completely hidden from view so your kitchen continues to look awesome! 5) When installed correctly ~ no cabinet rattle. Cons: 1) Wish it shipped with more than 1 magnet tool. 2) Wish there was another color option (black perhaps?) Conclusion: My only negatives arent really even cons. Thats because this system is awesome! We originally installed a set at our old house several years ago when our first born son was born. They worked great, and I absolutely loved the fact that they were hidden from view and easy to manipulate with the tool to get them open. When we moved last year, we ordered up another set because we now swear by these things. Once the kiddos grow up, I doubt well even remove ~ we may just keep them on the cabinets and explain to the new owners/renters how to use them. We have encouraged several new parents to purchase, and are aware of atleast 1 couple that has and absolutely loves them! If I could rate this 10 stars, I would! Its been that awesome!

> 3 dayI bought these because I could not stand the latch locks. The installation template made it very easy to install. They seem to be very secure (my son hasn’t messed with the cabinets today). So far I love it.

> 3 dayThis is a clever system that really works well. It is so much better than the other terrible cabinet and drawer locks out there. All you do is wave the magnetic key in front of the lock to open. The fact that you can disable the lock temporarily is also a huge plus. The hardware is plastic but is very sturdy and seems well made. Unlike some of the other lock systems which allow the cabinet to open a bit by design to allow you to stick your hand in and unlock the mechanism, these do not allow the drawer or cabinet to open at all when locked and are less of a pinch hazard. The installation instructions seemed extremely complicated, so I just skipped that and marked everything out myself, drilled the holes, and installed the hardware and it worked perfectly. If you are working in a small drawer, it may be a challenging time getting the hardware installed. I had to use a stubby screw driver in one drawer to get the screws in. Little bit of a pain but not that big of a deal. Larger drawers and cabinet doors were a breeze. Another other reviewer made a comment that these can be unlocked inadvertently with a large piece of metal: 1) I have not noticed this, and 2) why would toddlers be wielding large pieces of metal? I actually couldnt even unlock it using another magnet (although a fairly weak one). Maybe they updated the product since then, but I think it works great.

> 3 dayI have made similar statements to other child safety products. But, it’s worth noting and it makes me laugh. I absolutely love the look on my 2yo’s face once he has learned he can no longer freely roam through out the kitchen and bathroom products. It’s almost as he saying, “dude. Dad. Mom. Why will you not let me play with the knives and cleaning products??...” The product works great, functionality is great. Very few complaints. Ultimately you a paying for esthetics, both in cost as well as effort. It’s not that it is terribly difficult to install (remember reading is fundamental. READ the instructions!), just monotonous and gets old. However, when it is all said and done. The cabinets look good. And often you forget they are even there. That is until you realize you can’t open the cabinet, and then forget where your wife told you to put the magnet. Or, your forget to put the magnet where your wife told you to. And she is asking you, “where did you put the magnet?” And remember, it should bring you as much joy, as it does me; watching your child become extremely disappointed that he can’t open the cabinet to spray his face with windex or suck on a toilet bowl brush.... Kids have zero chill.

> 3 dayBefore buying these locks I did a lot of research, which was unfortunately why I had to rush to install them once my son started crawling. I did not like the idea of the other style of magnetic locks which solely utilize adhesive to attach the locks and catches to the door/frame. I felt that that was too cheap and could be overcome by a very determined child. The instructions were easy enough to follow, but the real reason to purchase these is the installation template. You get one for each lock and it is quite simply idiot proof. A single template is used for both the lock and the catch. It actually is designed to transfer from the frame to the door during installations. Simply put, this product is well worth the money and I plan to leave these on my cabinets even after I no longer need them. You can disengage them when no longer needed and in my opinion its a benefit when selling my house in case they have children.

> 3 dayThese locks are amazing! This is our 3rd try child proofing our cabinets. First we used the 3M type locks. Those worked pretty well until my little guy used all his strength to bust through them. Next we tried the cheap push down locks you screw into the inside of your drawers and cabinets. Again worked until my son figured out how to put his hand inside and open it himself. He is only 22 months so I still needed some type of safety locks on some of our cabinets. This was our last resort before moving everything out of his reach. My husband installed these locks very easily. They are very secure when locked. My son will go up to them give a tug and say locked and move on. There is no wiggle room for him to mess with them. I also like that you can turn the lock off if you dont want to use the key all the time. Such a nice feature. I actually went back and bought a second pack for our upstairs bathroom cabinets.
