Amazon was great with tech support on this product but I couldnt get to it work on my computer with the Samsung Migration software. It took me 10 to 15 tries and had to research a lot online. I purchased a 860 EVO for my one Windows 8.1 and it clone first time. But my other Window 7 machine would either lock up or go to 99% complete and stall in progress. After many ties I finally got it to clone and wanted to tell people what I had to do. Not sure what exactly made it work but I defraged my drive and it seem to transfer data faster but still stalled. I finally found an article and it said to turn off the Restore Points feature in windows and also to turn off Page File. Evidently Page File turns a little portion of your drive into a virtual RAM . I also had to format the drive at first by going to disk management and click on that drive and create a simple volume which then lets you format the drive. No computer expert here just a lot of research. Hopefully this helps someone in the future.

Works well. I ordered incorrectly because I thought my laptop took a 2.5 drive (it doesnt - it take a M.2 format) but the drive works well so I am keeping it for backup purposes.

Great ssd wow

I have had this drive for a couple of years. It is fast. As I said, the boot time is more that twice as fast. My whole machine is visibly faster. Money well spent. Prices have come down since I bought mine. I would suggest a 1tb instead of the 500 mb. But I find that I have only filled up about 50% of it so far. It made a HUGE difference in the performance of my machine.

The cloning and installation was a breeze. I used a USB adapter, downloaded the Samsung software and it found the right drives all I had to do was click the start button and install the drive when cloning was done. This drive is super fast (over 500Mbps read and write) and gave new life to my 7 year old computer. The only problem was the instructions gave an old address to download the software. I looked up the new one on a search engine.

I thought the first one I got was just a bad unit, but then I found out that Samsung has their own proprietary formatting software— and theres no Mac version. These SSDs my be fine for storage, but they wont host an OS. (To be fair, it might also be fine in a newer Mac.)
