I bought this to replace the internal HDD in my older Dell Inspiron 5765 laptop. Admittedly, Dells used to be a lot easier to perform upgrades like this on; with the Inspiron, you have to remove the base completely and keep track of dozens of small screws. However, the Samsung device comes with access to some s/w that makes cloning and replacing the old drive a snap. I happened to have an external naked drive enclosure that I could run that clone process through; so be forewarned that youll need some similar enclosure or cable if thats how you want to use this. Its been running flawlessly for a month or so now and I am pleased as punch with the improved performance so far.

The drive works well. These drives need to be initialized before use. This process can easily be searched. In this case, I was upgrading from a 1Tb M.2 to this 2Tb SATA III drive. Typically, I would use a drive cloner since the process is fast, and seamless. I decided to see if peoples complaints about the Samsung Magician software were valid. I had no problem with the software. I downloaded it, and once it was open, followed the on screen instructions. They very specifically state to have no other programs running. I also disconnected from the Internet in order to prevent push notifications. My main thought is how slow the process is. Transferring about 900Gb to the drive via a USB 3 enclosure took almost three hours at about 100Mbps. Once the copy process was completed, the computer automatically shut down. I removed the old disk and installed the new one. I turned the computer on and didnt even have to enter the BIOS. This was surprising since I went from M.2 to SATA III. Windows loaded normally, and my activation software didnt require reactivation which is why I normally clone the drive. The only program that detected a new configuration was my NAS backup program making me have to plug the laptop to the NAS via Ethernet in order to transfer the entire drive at a reasonable speed.
