SSD is very fast, Read and Writes are very high. Make sure you install the drivers from Samsung instead of the ones windows tries to use by default to squeeze the top performance out of this drive.

The Samsung 960 EVO 500GB NVMe M.2 drive is EASILY the fastest single-drive storage solution I have ever used by a whole level of magnitude. its RIDICULOUSLY fast compared to even the fastest sata ssds Ive had the pleasure of working with and make hard drives appear to be from the stone age. Installation is wicked easy, just slot the card, use a screw to screw it down to the board, and youre off!. System boot speeds are really fast, loading applications is really fast, and makes a system incredibly responsive no matter what is going on at the time. If youre thinking about upgrading to a new custom build that has an m.2 slot, this is an absolute no brainer. Sure, there are competing m.2 drives sata drives that are out there for quite a bit less money, but they are pretty much just as fast as a normal 2.5 sata drive. upgrading to NVMe is just phenomenal, and this is one of the fastest NVMe drives on the market right now.

I like the performance, extremely faster that any M.2 SSD that I have tested. Most desktop motherboards with an integrated M.2 slot will recognize this new Samsung M.2 SSD. But, there are compatibility issues with some Notebook PCs, such as HP and Dell. IT appears that some Notebook Manufacturers have hard-coded in their BIOS firmware to only accept certain M.2 SSDs like Intel only. This not a good marketing move as this will open their company up to civil litigation and conflict with certain monopoly laws. When you contact their support team, they are not forthcoming with any information. Either the Notebook PC M.2 slot should work with all M.2 SSDs, or their documentation should say which M.2 SSDs on the market can be used.

Super fast boot drive. It actually takes longer to get to my bios splash screen than to boot into windows. Also have the Witcher 3 installed on this drive and still have plenty of room to spare.

I want to start off and thank Amazon for another outstand product with top notch service. The first card that shipped never made it to me, despite the USPS saying it was delivered in my locked mailbox. Nope. Amazon shipped another to me at no charge. OUTSTANDING. This M.2 is sooooo fast compared to my other samsung standard sad. Speeds are as advertised. I did have an issue trying to install windows 7 pro, make your life easy and just install windows 10. Windows 10 has the drivers needed for the M.2, win7 does not. Youll have to download the driver before and install it before the drive will even talk to Windows. I use this drive for my OS and two of my most played games and at over 3000 read speeds, vs 500 ish on my Evo 850 ssd. For those debating over the 960 pro vs, the Evo, if you have more money than friends, but the Pro. Those wanting best bang for the buck, get the Evo. There really is not that much of a difference in speed vs the Pro.

Received the drive when it finally was back in stock. Installed it in my Gigabyte Z170M-D3H motherboard. Booted into Windows 10 and used Macrium Reflect Free to clone my existing 850 Pro drive to the 960 Evo. Changed the BIOS to boot from the 960 and all was well. The version of Samsung Magician that supports this drive (5.0) does not allow enabling Rapid Mode on this drive. Not sure why that is but with the drive benchmarking at about 6x the speed of the 850 Pro it replaced, I dont really miss Rapid Mode. Overall, if you have a fast SATA 3 SSD installed now I dont know that youll see much real-time improvement with the 960. Still, Im satisfied with the drive and glad that I waited until it was available.

I purchased this to serve as my drive for my Operating system SSD. and in the 5 months that Ive had it, It works flawlessly. At first I was concerned that the sticker would interfere with the cooling of this SSD. but it turns out that it actualy runs fairly cooly. about 30c idle and 50c under load. with a decent processor you can expect bursts of 3GBp/s internal read/writes but you should expect averages of 500-600MBp/s if you are using it with mechanicals. Using this as the primary page file will warrant significant latency reductions and improve stability. This may also help you mitigate problems caused by NDIS.sys and TCPIP.sys if you are a windows 10 user. although not completely. There is one strange hiccup with this SSD that may, or may not be experienced by other PCIe NVMe SSDs as well. Which is if any other drive has a windows boot manager on it. the bios will default to that drive rather than the NVMe SSD even if you select the NVMe SSD to boot from. The only way this works is if it is the ONLY drive plugged in to your computer that has a windows image installed on it. I am not sure how the bios resolves that this is the drive it should be using since it doesnt seem to know that it has a windows boot manager as well. Other than that, I can say that this will fill the role of an OS drive well. Also if you are upgrading to this from a pre-existing OS drive the clone software that comes with this works absolutely fine, but windows may preform a chkdsk once the clone is completed. I recommend allowing this to proceed so windows can resolve its position on the new drive.
