This ssd hard drive failed in under a year and a half period of time. Samsung said it shouldn’t have failed so soon and it was covered for 3 years. When I sent my receipt they told me I’d have to go through Amazon since the HD was purchased through a “third party” that came from “China”. Trying to get this issue resolved has been extremely time consuming and frustrating. The run around is a lot of unneeded bullshit on a part that is covered by manufacturer warranty up to three years! Buyer beware: Amazon might save you a small amount of money up front but it is definitely not worth the headache if anything goes wrong with your PC components you’ve purchased through them. Amazon likes to 1. Send you to anywhere else rather than deal with honoring a simple manufacturer warranty. OR 2. Place you on hold forever and a day

This drive is incredibly fast. It is a good size ssd so you are still able to get all your critical programs installed and not have to worry about having your drive get filled up immediately. Pared with my 7th gen i5 it boots up windows 10 from power off to the login screen in about 12 seconds. This drive installed really easy right in the motherboard and it was off to the races. No problems getting it to install windows from scratch or any other software. Did I mention that it is super fast.

Extremely fast read/write speeds. Easy to install. Would highly recommend.

Windows startup time is damn near instant from turning on the power. I cheaped out and went with 205gb, so I cant exactly go crazy with what I put on it because most games/programs tend to have massive installs, but still, its so convenient. I recommend an m.2 SSD in general. I went with the 960 EVO because it seemed like a safe choice due to the general opinions on it, though is probably not the best value in terms of price/performance/storage.

Update - changing rating to 1 star based off of my replacement experience. Contact support, they emailed me a ups label. I returned both failed drives. I received both back a few days later stating that they had been repaired. The repair description said: updated firmware. I plugged both back in to my NAS and both showed the SMART INFO health in critical state. I contacted support again and told them that they didnt fix the problem. They send me another two labels to return the drives. I will never buy these drives again. Support hasnt been that great and it seams their repair center doesnt check the SMART info. -- Surprised by the reliability. Today one of the SSDs started to fail. The S.M.A.R.T. info listed about this SSD shows it in critical state. This SSD was installed in a Synology as a read-write cache back in late March. Emailed support this evening. I hope Samsungs replacement process is easy and not a hassle.

It is unbelievable what this did to my computer. I will never use a mechanical drive as my OS drive again.

This is a great SSD at a great price. I purchased the Samsung 960 EVO 250GB NVMe M.2 drive for a new computer build I was putting together. I did my research and was considering several other manufacturers as well as the Samsung 960 PRO and the Samsung OEM line (SM951). I decided that the performance, price and warranty on the 960 EVO fit my needs. The difference in speed and durability between the 960 EVO and the 960 PRO didnt justify (to me) the additional cost of the PRO model. I could have gone with the OEM line, but the warranty was considerably shorter then the retail 960 drives. There are drives from Intel, Adata, Team Force, Western Digital and a few other manufacturers. Intel had some drives that had impressive projected MThe Adata drives couldnt compete on performance. The Western Digital Black drives were the closest competition, but ultimately, I decided that the price was so close between the WD Black and the Samsung 960EVO that the added performance and warranty of the Samsung won out. I saw an appealing price here on Amazon for the 960 EVO that made the decision even easier and I pulled the trigger. I have been using this as my boot drive for the past couple of months and I have no complaints The drive is fast!. If I had any regrets, it may be that I might have purchased a 500GB 960 EVO instead of the 256GB.
