Samsung BAR Plus 32GB - 200MB/s USB 3.1 Flash Drive Champagne Silver (MUF-32BE3/AM)

I bought this unit to store in my car as a USB music drive. Unfortunately it didnt survive the Israeli summer as it began to lose data after a month in the sun.

I previously had a bad batch that failed three times, however some time later I decided to take some chances and order some more, and I have not been disappointed. Ive had two for nearly a year and they havent failed me yet, despite installing countless OSes from them. Theyre fast, too, but they do get a bit warm.

(32gb stick) Disappointing. On a USB 3.0 port, I got reads at 205 MB/s (ok), but writes were only 23 MB/s! My cheaper 16gb Sandisk 3.0 stick was 60% faster. The write speed was also very erratic, starting fast then almost stopping then going up and down, while the Sandisk was flat and steady from the getgo. On a USB 2.0 port, it was worse. 31 MB/s reads (ok) but only 12 MB/s writes, and again with the erratic up and down speed. The cheaper Sandisk was 30% faster, and steady, on writes. It’s as if Samsung went out of their way to optimize read speed (to tout) at the expense of everything else. This isn’t a CD-ROM, so most people I imagine will need to write as much as they read (like when transferring files from one computer to another), making this drive slow overall. All-metal: It looks really nice, but I don’t need a metal object with sharp points in my pocket (whose idea was that). It is also very hard to insert and remove; my whole PC moves, and I’m afraid I will eventually damage the port. I think this is a problem with all-metal flash drives; I think they have to be stronger, and therefore stiffer, since there is no protective cover, which makes for a tighter fit. I will avoid these in the future.

With all the fake thumb drives out there, this is a high quality drive. I ran the test software and it agrees with the stated capacity of 32Gig.

Perfectly designed for its purpose. Extremely durable and pretty fast. No complaints at all as it does exactly what it advertises. Highly recommend.

Attached screenshot of benchmark. Added SanDisks Extreme (USB 3.0) and Extreme Go (USB 3.1) for comparison. Speed is top class. Exceeded advertised read speed (200mbps) but I will say that write speed is a bit lacking. However, to compensate for that, this drive has exceptional 4k read/write speeds compared to others Ive done. For those who dont know, 4k speeds are a good representation of how well your drive reads/writes many small files. Sequential speeds show how well a drive performs with a single large file (like a full movie). Drive gets barely warm after benchmark was completed. Can easily attach to a key ring to carry on the go. Would not hesitate to buy again! P.S. I bought Champagne Silver because I noticed Titan Gray s paint can peel off from the reviews, which looks kinda ugly. Appears Champagne Silver does not suffer from this issue.

I have a bit more time on my hands these days and since there appear to be a lot more fake reviews on Amazon recently I’ve decided to go back and review the items I’ve bought. I will include photos where I can and will only review items I still have or of which I have a strong recollection. I am neither getting paid nor getting anything free or at a discounted price. This flash drive is reliable and I think a good value. I bought a couple and havent had any issues with them when it comes to storage. However plugging it in isnt the easiest and as others have said, transfer speeds are on the slow side. Does the job for the money.

The drive seems to be well made. It is much faster than many I have tried, but does not approach the Rated Speeds. Still, all in all a good product.

I backup often and this is probably twice as fast as my older flash drives. Instead of deleting the data I want to overwrite, I format the flash drive each time, then copy, this method is much better than deleing whats on the drive than copying the data.

Im very pleased with this purchase. I bought it to give a client 20 GB worth of pics and video from their wedding. Not only did this hold everything, but its super fast and and looks really nice. I highly recommend and will probably be buying more in the future.
