I have a 8 year old dell xps that was getting a bit slugish but has basically been a great laptop. Although the original hard drive was not throwing up any red flags I felt that an eight year old hard drive was pushing my luck, plus I knew I could pick up some real benifits in loading speeds with a ssd drive.I purchased the 860 evo 500 gig which will more than suffice my needs for storage space, and Samsung gets high marks for their products. The installation did not go as smoothly as I would have liked. I cloned the new samsung drive with Macrium Reflect, and although the cloning process completed when I swapped the drives Windows 10 would not load.Next I took the new drive out ,reinstalled the old and used the Samsung data migration software to clone the drive. It however will not copy OEM partitons installed on my old drive , which I didnt like. Reinstalled the new drive, Windows loads , but when I tried to to a system image backup with Macrium Reflect I cant see my external drives. Finally after messing about some I decided to leave the new drive in my laptop, was able to get it into it into a Macrium Reflect rescue environment and was able to install the backup image I took of my system just before starting this process onto the new Samsung drive. My basic point is that if Samsung data migration software cant duplicate all the partions on your hard drive , then I wouldnt use it.All I know is when I restored the image with those partitions everything started working right. This is just my exterience and maybe for 99 out of 100 people Samsung Data Migration might work fine, but when I clone a hard drive I dont want somebody else deciding to leave partitions out of the new cloned drive.

First off, Im a loyal Samsung customer...Ive been buying their SSDs for about 10 yrs now, and have NEVER had a single error, failure or problem installing. Now that prices have dropped some, Ive replaced the drives in mine and my mothers laptops with SSDs. This has to be the best improvement you can make as far as laptops go. Laptops now take about 1/3 the time to boot. Gonna wait until the 2TB drives drop at little more, and replace all the storage drives with SSDs also in my my main pc, which currently has only the boot drive SSD (2- 250GB Samsung Pros) set to RAID 0 .

I was going to purchase a new laptop until I heard about 860 Evo drive. WOW, my laptop is faster that ever, cost me under a $100.00 saved over $500.00 by replacing the hard drive. Easy to change over, cant say enough good things about this drive.

This SSD has completely changed the game for my mid-2012 macbook pro. I went from 1-2 minute initial boot and constant beach ball spinning to about 16 second initial boot and I dont think Ive seen the beach ball since. I have a NAS so the 250gb is the perfect size for me and I couldnt be happier with this SSD.
