Samsung SSD 860 EVO 1TB 2.5 Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-76E1T0B/AM)

I bought this for a 5 year old Toshiba Satellite S75-A7334 whose original HDD died and I couldn’t even get it to boot anymore, the compatibly check wasn’t sure it would fit this model but I was sure it would and the older model laptop just wasn’t listed. Sure enough after 4 screws I’m back in business. Used another Windows 10 computer to build a plain Windows 10 install USB and it installed a fresh copy in less then 15 minutes, all I needed to add was the Toshiba function key drivers so I can use the Toshiba keyboard shortcuts. Now what used to take 5+ minutes to boot and run now takes 7 seconds and I haven’t lost any drive capacity in the switch. The Windows 10 usb install was a breeze once you set the BIOS to boot first from USB. Best $ I’ve spent on a laptop I had given up on, now it runs lightning fast.

Samsung makes the worlds best SSD’s. You can’t go wrong with it. They are fast, reliable, durable, and have amazing build quality. Have never had any issues with any Samsung SSD. I have bought tons of them and still haven’t had one fail me yet.

I bought this together with Kingston Technology HyperX Impact 16GB (2 x 8G) Memory for my Lenovo G510 laptop to do a long-overdue upgrade.

For about $120 I got this and a mounting bracket to install it in a 3.5 drive bay. Its the best investment Ive made in my computer for a while. There is a noticeable increase in speed of boot up, directory access and application start-up. Some applications also run faster. To be fair, I replaced a ten year old 630GB hard disk that had a minuscule 16meg on-board catch - if youre running something more modern you probably wont see as much gain as I did. None the less, I suspect any HDD to SSD conversion will yield some speed gain.

If I think Ill load it any time soon, it goes on the 2TB 860 EVO. If I dont think Ill load it any time soon, it goes on a hard drive. I have >50GB games I have never played that are installed on this drive, because I havent needed the space. If it wasnt for all the things that will only install on C:, I wouldnt have to worry about disk space at all.

This drive was a breeze to install in my PS4 slim. It noticeably sped up the PS4 initialization process, game loading and data download times for those huge online game installations, but more importantly, the gameplay is smoother. I wish I had done this a long time ago, but I was only recently forced to replace the old 5400 RPM hard drive due to complete hard drive failure. I would recommend this Samsung solid state drive to any PS4 gamer as an essential upgrade.
