I replaced my D drive in my gaming laptop with this drive. The old one was a 7200 RPM mechanical drive, but it isnt anywhere as fast as this drive is. If youre a gamer, this drive is for you. Games load lightening fast. I play, The Witcher 3, on my laptop, and skipping cut scenes is super fast as well as loading times.

Picked up a couple 500gb recently here on Amazon for $73, so glad prices have started coming down on ssds. Ive used these 860 Evos in quite a few builds as boot drives and or game drives and have never had an issue. Great Samsung quality and performance at a decent price.

This drive seems like a good choice to replace/update your PCs conventional hard drive. Mine is a ten-year-old HP desktop with Win10, and the improvements include noticeably faster start-up and loading of programs. Plus, a lot more space compared to my 640GB HD. Here are a few installation tips: The drive comes unformatted, so when you first plug it in, your computer will not see it. In Win10, youll need to start Disk Management, right-click the hard-drive marked Unknown, and select Initialize Disk. Then you can format it and assign a drive letter - just use all the default settings. Another tip is, Samsungs Data Migration utility will not clone a Volume on your existing drive if it contains the computer manufacturers Recovery program, unless you have a Samsung computer. On my HP, each time Data Migration got to that Volume, it just stopped and said, Data Migration stopped for an unknown reason, and the whole cloning process was aborted, including the C Volume that had already been cloned. Just dont select the Recovery Volume before starting the migration, and it should finish successfully. Youll know because the computer turns off when it is done, at which point, you can swap the old disk with the new one. You can always make a Win10 Recovery USB dongle later. Finally, the cloning goes much faster if you can connect the new drive using a SATA connection rather than USB. The difference for transferring 500MB is 2 hours compared to about 6-7 hours. I did also get the Corsair Dual SSD Mounting Bracket 3.5, which comes with all the mounting hardware you need to install the 2.5 drive in an older desktop.

I had now problem changing out my old hard drive. After cloning my old hard drive and installing this hard drive my computer booted right up and was much faster.

I put this into an old laptop, replacing the 5400rpm HDD, and it was like a whole new laptop! So much faster! I would totally recommend this as a boot drive for an old rig or laptop, or a secondary drive!

I bought this together with Kingston Technology HyperX Impact 16GB (2 x 8G) Memory for my Lenovo G510 laptop to do a long-overdue upgrade.
