Greater than one weekpurchased this to replace the HD in my 2011 MacBook Pro which became incredibly sluggish, often taking a minute or more to open programs. After following instructions on CNET, the MacBook would not recognize the Samsung EVO 860. I researched various solutions on several reputable websites, but nothing worked and concluded the unit must be defective. Returned the unit to amazon as defective, which sent out a new unit for no additional charge. The new unit arrived and was instantly recognized by the MacBook, cloned the HD to this SSD, and installed it. The process worked perfectly and the speed of the MacBook is like new...Fantastic $72 upgrade.

> 3 dayDoes exactly what it says - a fast SSD with no issues. I bought two - an 860 and an 870 for different purposes. Well worth the money. No issues!

04-06-2025Replaced spinning rust and sped an anemic Pentium Silver to usable status. Super easy to install replacing super slow OEM Toshiba 5400rpm and with a fresh install of Windows it’s as fast as possible without OEM crud.

> 3 dayMY PC has a very quick NVMe, but only 500gb. Also a 3tb hard drive but is painfully slow. Unfortunatley my PC doesnt have room inside for an internal SATA drive so my only option was an external enclosure. That can be limiting through USB, but the one I got is supported for USB C 3.1 gen 2. So with that an a thunderbolt compatible USB C cable, I can finally use this drive.

> 3 dayI have a Macbook Pro 2010 model that was getting sluggish. I maxed out my RAM and cant upgrade video card or processor, so swapping in a Solid State Drive seemed like a good option. Following some helpful directions from Cnet, I was able to clone my drive onto the new SSD and then install it myself. All that is needed is a special torx screwdriver and a USB to SATA cable for the file copying. With the Samsung SSD drive installed, opening programs such as Lightroom and Photoshop are much faster (Lightroom used to take 1-2 minutes to fully open, now is open in less than 10 seconds, and overall performance is much better. Now I can continue to use my old Macbook for at least a few more years!

> 3 dayYou need this. My 2013 HPE i7 3770 desktop boots in less than 20 seconds. SSD is the only way to go. I will buy a second when the price drops more.

> 3 dayOur family archive (common files, videos, pictures, projects, etc.) were on a 4TB spinning hard drive. I configured the machine it was in to let it sleep when not in use. Backed it up to a portable 4TB drive periodically. Then a few weeks ago it disappeared from the network. I logged into the server and it was a hard failure. (CRC check errors)

> 3 dayIgnore the highly rated 1 star review with the low speeds. That user is clearly using the drive in a device with only SATA2 speeds(300MB/s theoretical max), or has the device configured to run in that mode.
