Detach the drive before you let computer go into sleep or hibernate, otherwise after wake up the encryption software will prevent access, system might not be able to identify the hardware thus telling you that the drive needs check and repair, and you cant safely remove

I needed to transfer files from a PC to a Mac and this did it without trouble. No software to install or setup required for what I was doing. Dragged & dropped the files from the PC, unplugged it, connected it to the Mac, and dragged the files off. Easy.

Compact and works well. I wish it would run while my computer was sleeping.

Writing this immediately after taking the box out of the shipping package. You can see how the box looks. Cant tell if it was stepped on before or after it was put in the shipping package. The fit inside the box was tight and would have been even if the side wasnt smashed in. I can see any visual damage. Internal injuries? Will it work? Lets find out...

I like that it is compact but holds a lot. Easy to use and now has all my home videos stored onto it.

I purchased the drive in March 2021. Everything seemed okay at first except I was getting frequent messages to scan the drive or to reconnect the drive. Around the July 21th I discovered a message stating Last backup 3/28/2021. I searched the documentation trying to find out what was going on. First of all , this is not a plug-and-play drive. There are several programs that you have to navigate, Sea Tools, Toolkit, DiscWizard, and others. The quick-start guide consists of 3 small diagrams with no text. The bulk of the quick start dealt with the Mac computers and the various foreign languages. Deep down in the other documentation, I discovered that incremental backup was not supported in Windows 10 computers. I spoke with tech support for more that an hour while he searched to find out why the drive status showed that it was shown as locked in Explorer. Also, the Toolkit program could not test the drive. At that point, I had had enough. Im going to toss the drive in the recycle bin. In the past, I have used Toshiba, WD, HP, and Seagate (Barracuda) drives. I used another drive software and it generated a page full of errors. I am not a novice. I have been a systems programmer, a certified network solutions engineer, and a manager of tech support.

I had read a review about WD external drives being good with Macs, but it wasnt compatible with Big Sur, and I got no help from WD. So I found the Seagate Ultra Touch when I read a report about the best external hard drives for Mac that worked with Big Sur, and it worked perfectly from the get-go. I was SO relieved, because all the time I wasted ordering, waiting for, then trying to troubleshoot the WD drive put me VERY behind on an important photo editing project for work. I would definitely recommend this one. (In fact, I bought 2 of them.)

This is lightweight, compact and easy to use. But the way the USB cord plugs into the unit isnt stable. When its plugged into my laptop I have to be careful because jiggling the cord or knocking the drive can cause the cord to pull out of the drive.

The hard drive itself works great, the only issue is that the included USB C adapter does not work.
