Smart Zone Games Hive Pocket

This is an amazing game. We love that its quick and easy to learn. I carry it when I fly and play with strangers when were stuck at the airport. Anyone can pick it up in a few minutes. We love that its zero luck and all skill.

I bought this for my husband for Christmas after reading several reviews on two player board games. It was easy to learn, the directions recommend how to play as beginners, with more tiles added once you have learned the game. By the third round we had the idea down and as we continued to play we noticed our own strategies evolving made the game feel brand new as our evening went on. I love the portability, a small bag, tiles and any flat surface can be the table- perfect camping game. I love how simple it seems, yet how complex it can be. It resembles Chess, in the way that each piece moves specific to its character, as well as the strategies to capture the Queen. Highly recommend as a two player fun evening of games.

This game is excellent. Very straightforward, yet has a great deal of complexity and variety -- it has the same sort of replay value of a game like chess. Plus I always beat my GF when we play. :-)

Hard to overstate how fun this game is. The simplicity and elegance, yet depth of the game, are hard to replicate. The quality of the tiles are extremely high. The more I play this game, the more I note the balance in the ability of the pieces and the expertise with which the rules were crafted.

Gave this one away as a gift, but I have the full-sized version. Excellent travel game (even at full size) - this is a great game for kids or adults. Easy to learn, but deep/strategic enough to play over and over. I once played it for three hours straight while snowed in at an airport. Worthwhile to have in your collection.

Really, nothing. But a pocket-sized (well, relatively pocket sized, lol) Hive set is a great thing for travelling. We had it during our last rock climbing trip and played it in between burns, while at camp, and even during meals. Great fun, and intriguing even to bystanders and watchers. If youve never tried Hive, its a wonderful chess-like strategy game with excellent balance and a few twists. No board necessary, which makes it eminently portable. Excellent, and highly recommended.

I was looking for a good two person game to surprise my husband with, and I discovered HIVE. This game is a hidden gem. The games can be played in as quick as 10-15 minutes or as long as +1.5 hr, depending on how much thought and strategy you want to put into it. Thats what makes this game super versatile and replayble. We have played over 30 rounds easily since purchasing, and we have introduced this game to many others (quick and easy to learn!) who have also loved it. My husband loves chess while I dont, yet we both enjoy Hive.
