> 24 hourSOG makes in my opinion some of the greatest knives/hatchets/multitools for your hard earned dollars. I have this hatchet in both the polished finish and oxide finish. Both have held up great in all kinds of situations. I bought this fast hawk to carry lashed to my hunting pack for splitting pelvis bones and quartering (I think its faster than sawing lol). I previously used the regular larger version of the fast hawk but it is slightly heavier. Using it day to day for what it is designed for it will work great. I did loosen the head of my larger hawk due to accidentally hitting cement while splintering some wood for fire starter which sucked but it is still very usable (very durable) although im sure after more use it will only start to loosen more now. It does use hex bolts to fasten the head to the handle and im sure if i wanted to buy those I could tighten it right back up. Very good blade, I recommend to anyone and every one.

> 24 hourAt this price this is a well built combat tool. Feels natural in my hands, well balanced, parts dont wiggle, not easy to break and very solid. Also not as handy as the larger one for wood work, I would only use this smaller one for tossing into hay bales at the farm and for pulling out if someone threatens me. It might be good at hacking small limbs or a survival tool and maybe for working on a deer but not an everyday wood cutter. Bought this with a Buck 650 Nighthawk knife, very good combo. Update: Got a second one and been throwing them for a few weeks. Handed one to my bud and he tossed it into first one on accident, handle is missing a chunk at very bottom where the one he threw landed with the flat part of the head onto the handle of the first then deflected. The steel for the head is very hard and still just as sharp as it was from the factory, the handles just seem a tad too brittle for me to consider buying any more. I will try find some black epoxy and see if I can repair it. These tomahawks are not expensive like the Laganas but they are expensive enough to prohibit easy replacement. I might look at local flea markets for more axes to throw, these tomahawks work well but you are always bound to have accidental bumps when you throw a few at the same area and that exposes the achilles heel of these otherwise fine tools.

> 24 hourFirst throwing axe I have ever purchased. Arrived 19 May 2020. Yesterday, 1 June 2020 (not quite two weeks later) I was out throwing it at my old dead tree in the back yard. Upon tugging on it to remove from tree I thought I felt the portion between the head of the axe and the handle, give a little . Sure enough, upon closer inspection I found that the top set of star/hex head screws were gone. I had not been hard on it either. I had thrown it maybe 5 or 6 different times with maybe 20 throws each time. To be honest, up until that point, I probably would have given this product 5 stars. Arrived very sharp and holds the edge well up to now. Well balanced and easy to throw. Will update after I contact customer service and see how that process goes.

> 24 hourI am a Cold Steel fan, and really admire their quality. I also like the American Hickory handles. BUT, this tactical tomahawk is well built too !!! It throws well, and can be very, very sharp. I do have some training with different weapons, and this little baby is no slouch in that department. Its real use comes from the fact that it is almost designed to run along the Molle webbing of my Maxpedition Sitka. It comfortably sits there and wont go anywhere despite a rigorous hike. One small velcro tie, and this wont slip out accidentally - no way and no how. But the velcro strip is easily removed, and this Tomahawk deploys nicely. On dried wood, from the middle of the summer, this will service nicely. It is smaller and will require a bit more effort to get rid of a downed tree, but from a survival perspective - just perfect. I have not pressure tested the handle, but suspect it can withstand a brutish amount of force. It wont come a part on you. I bought mine on a bit of sale, and it was well worth the price. Put this on your wish list, and strike when that iron is hot !!!

> 24 hourI love this thing!! I am very pleased with my purchase! The quality of build is better than expected. I read some reviews that stated the head had come loose after multiple uses... This one has not done this to me. I imagine if it did come loose (and this fix has been mentioned) it is not the build quality, its the fact that the hex screws come loose. I would and I havent yet, put threadlock on them if you are concerned about being surrounded by bears in the woods and only have a SOG Tomahawk to defend yourself. If thats the case, then I suggest Bear Repellent and a .44 Magnum and save the Tomahawk for the tree out front at your neighbors house. This SOG has been one of my FAVORITE impulse buys--

> 24 hourThis beautiful, fun and exciting weapon of mass distraction.... I use this beast and the 2 others I bought as throwing tomahaks....As I live in a semi - upscale neighborhood my neighbors seem think I may be unstable due to my activity of choice, they all sit on their balconies and watch me drill these bad boys into my backboard with a thunderous ca-thunk (much like it was thrown by the hand of Thor himself). The only inadequacy I found in my order of this fine product was that I failed to order 3 more. 10/10, I recommend. Id give them 7 out of 5 stars if I was allowed to by this infernal Amazonian machine. In all seriousness, keep up the good work SOG, as always a tremendous product, you sick beautiful prodigal men of savagery.

> 24 hourIt is really sharp. It seems to be balanced quite well for a cheap hawk. Even a novice can use this hawk and make it stick! The loss of one star is for the sheath it came with. After only a few uses, the hawk cut some of the stitching on the case which now makes it incredibly difficult to remove from the sheath. I think a kydex sheath would be a much better option. I have now made a leather sheath for it. Overall I would recommend for anyone to purchase at this price point.

> 24 hourI purchased this after looking for an alternative to a larger hatchet for camping, backpacking, etc. While it does have a mean look, and although its called tactical, I dont think Ill be splitting zombies heads open any time soon with this guy. Like others that have reviewed it and commented, I wrapped mine with 550 para cord to improve the grip around the handle. I did this for a couple of reasons. I purposely got sweaty and tried to hack some limbs off of a felled tree. The hawk was sharp out of the box but it didnt give me the grip that I wanted after getting sweaty. On hawks, you dont want too sharp of an edge; it wont split out the wood as well as it just cuts through. If the branches are small enough, a sharp edge will cut through in one swing which is good but most of the time, it doesnt work that way. I havent used it to hammer (the center of the head has a pounding surface) anything but if I were, Id stick to larger stakes or spikes. I wouldnt use it to hang trim or anything. The spike isnt sharp but it isnt supposed to; its to provide penetration and leave a gaping hole once removed. Not really useful for camping or hiking but Im sure itd work to stop an intruder or zombie ;). I wouldnt suggest getting close enough to either one to try it, though. Overall, a great little addition to my camping equipment and one that Ill bring with me when I go out in the woods.

> 24 hour5 stars all round! the axe has been to hell and back. constant bashing against rocks, days submerged in muddy water/sand, left in the snow for months, and it can STILL slash, chop, and stick like no other. the blade is SUPER strong and well built. if it gets dull, just take it to the belt grinder and youre all set. some rust spots here and there, but thats expected from such abuse. il be buying another soon!
