Overview - the SteelSeries Arctis 7 (2019 edition) has a good quality set of drivers and microphone, plus is made from very high quality materials and includes lots of extras which leaves very little to be desired. The Good: Build Quality - 5 out of 5 These headphones are made from very durable and quality materials, and overall feel very solid. I especially like the ski goggles headband style since you only have to adjust it once for your head and then never have to worry about readjusting it, unlike the traditional telescoping headband that most headphones have. The headband is made of steel and plastic with an elastic band for support, and the earphones are made from high quality plastic. The ear cups are made from memory foam covered with an interweaved material which is light and breatheable, but still keeps external noise out well. There are very few points of articulation in this headset which I like because that means there are less potential points of failure. Sound Quality - 4 out of 5 Overall the sound quality is solid, and these headphones have a generally flat frequency response, with a slight bump in the mid-lows. Its taking me some time to adjust to this flat EQ because the headset that I was using previously was excessively muddy and boomy in the lows (Kingston HyperX Cloud), however the sound is very balanced across the frequency spectrum. Connectivity Options - 5 out of 5 This headset includes a ton of connectivity options right out of the box, and you can tell that the engineers who designed it took interoperability and ease of use into consideration when building it. It includes a wireless dongle which plugs into your computer via USB and is used to sync to the headset wirelessly, as well as a USB charging cable for the headset and a 3.5 mm headset jack to mini usb cable for use with non-bluetooth enabled devices (such as the Xbox One). I especially like that the wireless dongle includes an audio in and audio out headset jack, so you can run an alternate line in (like a music player) or line out (to a secondary set of speakers). The best part is that the wireless dongle will automatically switch over to the line out when the headset is powered down or disconnected, so you can run the line out cable to a set of external speakers and can switch between your wireless headset and the external speakers by just turning the headset on and off. The included configuration software is also very nice and has many options for adjusting the input sound, frequency levels as well as saving various profiles for different uses. The Bad: Comfort - 3 out of 5 Unfortunately, these arent the most comfortable headset Ive ever tried or owned, and due to their design they are very limited in terms of adjustability (more of a 1 size fits all approach). Many people complain that the headband was too tight or too loose for their head, but luckily it seemed to fit me perfectly. My problem lies with the earcups themselves. While the cups are soft and very breatheable, they are quite thin and the inside of the cups dont offer nearly as much padding as other headphones that Ive owned. I also wear glasses and have large ears, which ultimately means that these headphones cause fatigue in longer wear sessions. I have found that I can only wear them for a few hours at a time before my ears start to get sore and I need to take them off for a bit. If comfort is the most important feature for you then you are probably better off looking for a more adjustable headset, however I find these to be as good or better than most so ultimately it wasnt a deal breaker for me.

These worked great for a little over 2 years before they started getting a lot of static when adjusting volume and having overall sound issues. Id expect something with this price to last longer. But while they worked they were fantastic headphones.

I really like this headset. I wear it for 10+ hours a day and it stays super comfy. The sound quality is great and I love the game/voice dial, its super useful. Plus the wireless is perfect, it has great range (about 40-50 ft) and they arent too heavy. However, the mic audio could be a tad better, according to people listening. Its not a deal-breaker though; the mic input audio is still miles ahead of airpods and other built-in mics, and only a couple steps behind a standalone mic, like the Blue Yeti. The biggest drawback is the confusing battery indicator. Its got three levels -red, yellow, green- but how much time is left on each of the levels is always inconsistent. Could be hours or minutes left on yellow, even if they were green a second ago. You can wear and use them while theyre charging, but you hear a faint buzzing noise that gets pretty annoying. Also, if the battery is red (bad, apparently) and then I charge them for 5 minutes, theyll turn green again even though there is no way theyre even close to that level of charge. Theres even more battery nuances than that, but those are the biggest issues. Overall, I think the utility of the headphones outweighs the cons, so Im happy with my purchase.

My last headset (logitec) was falling apart and had a short in the wire to the right ear piece. I needed a new headset. Friends kept recommending me to the Steel Series Arctics. One recommended 7 and the other 9. I saved up and got the Arctics 7. First thing Im happy about. No cord, unless its charging. I have 3 cats, and two of them love wriggling stings and cables, the youngest the most. Id love to blame them for the issues with my last headset, but those issues started before I got these two cats. With the Arctics 7 headset, no cable!!! No worrying about a new headset being damaged by playful fluffballs, or the possibility of the cats getting hurt. Second thing: the stretchy band that adjusts, it makes the headset so comfortable and helps the headset fit snug on my head. Third: The ear covers are also comfortable and warm. My ears get cold easily so when a headset keeps my ears warm on top of being comfortable, its a bonus. My last headset was also comfortable and warm on the ear part, so its nice to have that again. Forth: Mute. I have a bad habit of accidentally muting myself or forgetting that Ive muted myself. The red light on the mic when muted is very nice! 5th: Sound Channels. Im still getting use to the volume controls and stuff, but I love how theres 2 different sound settings! Now if I can just remember that I sometimes set the media player sound to come through the chat channel when Im not chatting with people! I had a tv shows audio come through my stream once because I forgot about it. 6. Volume controls. There are two. One is the basic one that controls all volume. The other helps regulate what you hear more. I love it. I really love my new headset.

THe sound Quality is GREAT after you warm it up. the first couple days of using it, it almost seemed like it was cutting the audio out and popping as if it was a cold electronic warming up? hard to describe, but after using it for a couple weeks, NOW it sounds GREAT! Problem I have is if you are too close to the Wireless transmitter it can cause audio cuts. Hardly ANY noise cancellation (unless you have the volume turned all the way but, but then its just loud noises drowning out the rest of hte room). The headband is NON-ADJUSTABLE! if you have a small head its fine, Medium size heads would probably feel the metal bar and it could be uncomfortable, and if you have a big head then just forget it because it wont fit anyways.

I have been eying wireless headphones for a while. I love the sound quality of my current setup, but I wanted to have a little more freedom to move around while casually using my computer or gaming. When I saw these on sale, I decided to go for them. Sound Quality: The sound quality on these is pretty cool. At first, they sounded a little iffy, but I was able to go into the Steel Series software and tune it to how I liked it. This was really easy. I gave them a 4/5 because they work great for gaming and for casual use for YouTube and stuff like that it is closer to sounding good than great. I briefly tested the microphone so I could include it in this review. I would call it passable. If you are using it for chatting in-game or over discord, I do not think anyone would think it is bad - but I wouldnt do any sound recording with the mic. Comfort: These are some of the most comfortable headphones I have used. I love the headband design and wish it was used everywhere. It is super easy to adjust to fit your head and is barely noticeable while wearing. You can definitely wear them for multiple hours without fatigue. I have tried them with both glasses and without and have not noticed it being much, if at all, more uncomfortable with the glasses on. Miscellaneous There isnt much else to put here. I think the position of the controls is all right. I have been using them for a bit and still have a hard-ish time finding the power button or the mic mute button without looking. The software seems pretty robust (this is used to change the sound settings and all of that). The bright red glow on the microphone when it is muted is a little annoying. When I wear glasses, I can sometimes catch the reflection of it in the corner of my eye. I would have also preferred if it just muted when you slid the microphone into the hidey-hole rather than using a toggle/button. The wireless is amazing. My setup is on the second floor, and I can go literally anywhere in my house without it dropping. Even the basement. The only time the signal got iffy was when I was standing next to a microwave. Verdict Overall, I would 100% recommend these at the price point I got them ($100) if you are looking for a wireless headset with a microphone. Once you move past $100, you start to get into the territory of other headsets that also have good reviews. I have not personally used any other wireless headset for almost 6 years, so I cannot speak to that. I can say I still would have been mostly happy with these at their retail of $140 (as of writing this review). But my complaints about the controls would have been more substantial at that price point.

Review for the 2019 Arctis 7. Love the design and build quality. Materials and sound quality are completely solid, but I had to take off one star because of some strange behaviors out of the box. I charged them fully (or so I thought) before using them. I thought it was weird that the mic LED was flashing red for a few hours then turned off. The next day I tried them out while working and noticed below average sound quality (static and terrible bass range). I was actually quite disappointed and thought there was no way these would get such good reviews with this sound quality. This was also during/after tweaking the SteelSeries Engine Software. I looked into the issue and found some users required a firmware update to get things going. I hadnt been prompted to update my headset and noted that my Headset and Transmitter were at 1.19.0.0 and firmware at 2.3.0.0. Not finding any success in updating I initiated a hard reset by pinning the button under the left ear cup for ~20 seconds and repairing with the transmitter (hold ~5sec and headset for ~6sec). I immediately saw a change when the charge LED flashed green. I hopped back into the software, and although my software/firmware versions didnt change, my headset now indicated I had a full battery and sound quality dramatically improved. I hope this helps if some of you are experiencing the same thing! Sound quality and Comfort: I still have my wired Bose QCs for noise cancelling head down work, these are a great substitute when mobility is a plus. Sound quality is comparable with a little tweaking in the SS Engine Software. Although Im not too convinced of the 7.1 surround quality, it is enjoyable. The headset is also very comfortable, both on the ears and on the head. They are pretty light compared to some other headsets. This helps if youre going to use them for extended periods of time.

Ive gone through a lot of high end headphone including, logitech, corsair, razer, sennheiser, sony, jbl, turtle, hyperx, beyerdynamics, sony, boss, lucid sound, technica, and jabra-just to name a few. Ive owned some that werent aimed at gaming with price tags over 1k, focal, grado, onkyo. The arctis 7 I think are the best bang for the buck, the software is very intuitive with my frp games, the lossless sound once adjusted and maximized is excellent. The biggest thing is the fit, they dont squish my ear in any way, they dont fall off my head when i have to bend down and pick up the pizza I just dropped before the dog gets it. The buttons are placed so you dont change settings while turning them off and on. You know which button your pressing by the feel. No they dont sound as good as the over 1k headphones when playing music, but for gaming the Arctis is an excellent choice.

I bought this headset in 2019. As of writing this review, I have had it for 2 years and it still works great for me. Really like the ability to hardware mute my microphone. Feels much more comfortable than relying on software mute on some programs. I have plugged the dongle into Mac, Linux and windows and it works fine on each of them without having to install extra drivers. (Though some minor features may be missing without the extra drivers) While the soft ear pieces lasted a long while, they started to not smell so great after a while (I probably should have been washing some more frequently). So I bought some spares online for around 6 bucks and have had no issues. One of the double edge sword aspects of it is it has two audio channels. One for gaming and one for chat. You can tell separate programs to use one of the other and adjust the volume balance on them using the right knob. Sometimes I accidentally bump it too far in one direction and will be playing a game and hear the game just fine, but wont be hearing friends on discord, not realizing this for a while.

Arctis challenges everything you know about gaming headsets with completely overhauled audio, a new mic design with unmatched clarity, and improved comfort with materials inspired by athletic clothing. Arctis 7 features lossless wireless audio, 24-hour battery life, a premium steel headband, on ear game/chat audio balance, and DTS headphone: X v2.0 7.1 surround. Arctis 7 was PC Gamer’s Best Wireless Gaming Headset of the year for 2019. Compatibility: PC wireless via USB, DTS headphone’s surround, SteelSeries Engine 3 support, chat mix mic, wireless via USB; PlayStation wireless via USB; Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite wireless via USB in docked mode, wired via 3.5mm cable in tablet mode; Mobile wired via 3.5 mm analog.
