This product is my gold standard for shaving soaps and I recommend it to everyone who asks for a soap. It lathers with no problems, whatever type brush you use (boar or badger) and the lather is thick, slick and cushiony. I love the scent as well though this is the most likely reason some people do not like this soap. If you are one of them, leave it open for a few days and the scent will fade a little without disappearing completely. I have used this with hard and soft waters and had no problem in generating a great lather quickly. You get quite a lot of product for the money and it comes in nice glass/ceramic tub that does not look out of place in a bathroom. Suggest that you get the After Shave (Lotion or Balm) to go with this soap!!!

This is an awesome shaving soap, great and very high quality soap and shaving bowl. Tabac is still one of my favorites since 1990. If you are out there for a shaving soap, dont think twice. I would strongly recommend it!

This stuff takes a little getting used to if you are new to using a brush and shave soap, but once you master it, it provides a very nice, extra long lasting lather, and it smells awesome. It truly smells manly in my opinion.

This soap will last a lifetime, I have had this one for several months and the container is still 80% full. Works really well, lathers creamy and the lather lasts for a long time. The smell is not for everyone, I got used to it and now I enjoy the smell but in the beginning I found it to old fashioned. The smell is too floral, not enough tobacco as I would expect from a product called Tabac.

Smells great, lathers even better. Ive tried a number of artisan soaps, and I have yet to come across another that produces a nice thick, slick lather as Tabac does. Currently sits atop my list of soaps, with my second choice, while a very good soap, still a very distant second. If I had to choose only one soap to use the rest of my life, I wouldnt hesitate to pick Tabac.

Well as a new wet shaver everyone said tabac tabac tabac. I bought some, it came very quickly consodering it came from jolly old England. At first i took the smell off and didnt like the scent. Then i took the gold foil off the puck and it got better but still didnt like it. Let it air our overnight and liked it. A creamy floral scent. Produced a rich lather that was very creamy. Came with a ceramic bowl and plastoc lid which is why i bought it in the first place. Very happy. With it. Now that i have the bowl Ill just buy replacement pucks.

I like the aroma...very fresh smelling. I have only used it once, but it lathered well, and I got a nice close shave.

I held off trying Tabac. The name, and way some have described the scent online seemed odd. The reports of its great lathering qualities had me intrigued. It comes in a nice white glass lidded bowl that looks great all with all your shave gear. The scent is very pleasing to me. It is not a modern fragrance, but if classic scents like Sandalwood, Old Spice, and the original Clubman scent are in your lineup, believe this will fit right in. For a person that likes lighter Citrus notes, maybe not. I would encourage anyone to try. It is light and barely noticeable while lathering. Doesnt really hang on or interfere with subsequent aftershave or colognes. Ive tried several brushes, but my Semogue 830 boar seems just right to load the soap and get it on my face. Minimal effort needed to whip up good lather even with hard water. Yes, almost explosive. Overall more impressed with the lather density. Some soaps very bubbly and take more effort, this is just creamy from the first few swirls in the bowl. It rivals creams for ease of use. Slickness and blade cushioning is about the best. I have sensitive skin and neck whiskers that grow in different directions on both sides. Tabac really allows me to make some nice close passes without fear of razor burn. The only gripe is that Tabac seems to take a bit more effort to rinse the residue off when done shaving, but this is quite minor and the soap otherwise seems to have moisturizing effect. It seems a bit pricey, but the bowl is re-usable and the soap really lasts. Will be buying more.
