Ok after many reviews and one really good one about the EZ mount funny enough a gentleman said he ordered both and the other one just worked better, so as this one was less I decided to start with this one. We have metal siding and any hole is forever and no ductwork in a 1952 home so at the high price this was solving what could be very expensive if I had water damage and our very short hot season in Oregon. We have a sill and I just adjusted to have a pitch with the legs. Now I can see how it would not work for some and there was only the position shown and way in front but with no holes I was willing for it to be ugly as a window unit is already ugly. The pegs are not supposed to line up per instructions as pictured I literally laid out the window and bounced and I’m far heavier than my 60lb black and decker 12000 btu AC. I say it’s absolutely worth the risk of not working with 30day returns

First of all the instructions booklet with an English cover is in Spanish and the one with a Spanish cover is in English -- obviously not at big deal. Neither is it a big deal that the instructions are upside down. The construction quality seems very sturdy. I think this thing is going to hold up longer than the AC, possibly. I bought this for a new LG LW1019IVSM unit which weighs 63 lbs. Its holding the AC up without issue. However, I had to take the bracket back apart and re-assemble it backwards then put it back into the window as well as adding a piece of wood underneath it on the outside of the window. Without this, the bracket would raise up the unit so high thered be a huge gap underneath and other spaces allowing air to travel through. It has these optional clips with it that attach the accordion fins to the bracket but I really dont see a purpose in this. The 4/5 is the combination of the poor attention to detail on the manuals and the struggle finding a solution to make it work, which resulted in having to re-assemble it upside down and add a piece of wood underneath it. Shouldnt have to do that, especially not for $80.

Extremely sturdy and easy to install BUT needs some modifications if using with an AC requiring to install the cabinet then the AC itself. I used 2 pieces of 3/8 thick aluminum I bolted to the far crossbar , then I could install the cabinet (bolted to the crossbars). I would suggest the manufacturer to offer this modification as an option. Fits tightly and very nicely. Required very little weather stripping. For all other window ACs, can be used easily. Just check that your windows are compatible with this shelf: go on the web site of the manufacturer: there are some good pictures. By the way the instructions are not well written.

Conceptually, I think this is a great product. I really wanted to like it and make it work. Other reviewers have also mentioned they measured their windows and it didnt fit. I did the same. Based on measurements, it shouldve fit but didnt. If you have standard windows and are looking for an AC brace, I highly recommend. For the most part it was easy to put together. Mine showed up a bit scratched, which I noticed as I put it together. Also, when purchased I purchased under the TopShelf link but the Black & Decker branded one showed up. I guess they have a partnership but I can imagine it being confusing for some customers.

I was surprised that it was as good as they said it was . It had all the parts only a couple of dings in it so all I had to do was put a heavy spray seal on it just like new . Not often you get an item that’s $76.00 for $17.00 . Works great

My 22,000 btu unit and I think most large ac units require the outside metal cabinet be installed and secured first. Then the actual ac unit is lifted up and slides into the cabinet from the home interior pushing the unit outward thru the window and into the cabinet. The ac units bottom is a tray that has all the components bolted to it. The bottom tray of the ac unit is the bottom of the whole air conditioner so the cabinet itself has a large opening in the bottom. Problem is the cabinet is open at the bottom with slide rails on each side. The cabinet falls down and around the bracket unsupported. Once installed the ac units bottom tray will rest on the bracket but the cabinet needs to be supported at during installation.

First, this went together very, very easily. I had it assembled, adjusted, and in the window in a few minutes. Sliding the A/C unit in place was very easy. But a couple thoughts on making it a bit better 1) The alternating pins are very clever, but need to be called out in the instructions. I thought something was wrong for a moment, until I realized how it was walking into place, moving one detent at a time. 2) its not clear in the instructions how the wings that hold the inside of the window frame are supposed to fit up against the window frame and trim. I ended up extending the wings as far as I could within the window (based on the flat portion on the bottom), and let the tabs reach as far as they could. 3) I padded the support against the window with some foam, and put some of the foam that came with my A/C unit (meant to be applied to the window sill) to the shelf in a few contact points to reduce the amount of metal-to-metal contact and vibration (its noticeably quieter, now).

I bought this brace for my new AC and the pins cannot work since the holes do NOT line up .. Attempted to contact company regarding this and they never bothered to get back to me. I also found another person who had the same issue. Poor quality control. Poor customer service. DO NOT BUY UNLESS YOU KNOW HOW TO RE-LINE THE HOLES UP TO FIT

This unit is identical to a Black and Decker unit being offered on Amazon right now. The Black and Decker offer provides a very helpful instructional video. Watch the B&D instructional video to know how this thing works. I found the B&D video AFTER installing the shelf (and I bought it two years ago). I realized it is not for my type of window (double pane), but it still works for my situation, with some adjustments and customizations.

This is a great bracket that doesnt require any drilling whatsoever, which was one of the biggest priorities for me when searching brackets online. I live in a rental and wanted to avoid doing any permanent damage to the window sills from drilling holes. Also, Ive been able to move the bracket around to different windows with the greatest of ease when figuring out the proper spot for the AC. Other pluses of this bracket: Easy to take out during the winter Enough adjustments to get the right width and angle of the AC unit Plenty of support for my 12,000 BTU unit Really easy to assemble Peace of mind when installing a heavy unit alone Few notes: My AC unit wasnt as flush and snug in the window as it usually is without a bracket, but I feel like this is usually the case with most brackets. I highly recommend buying some AC insulation foam to place behind the panels and to stuff underneath the bracket in order to fill in any gaps. Also, it may take a few tries to get the right angle. My AC is not totally flat underneath so I had to readjust a couple of times to get it right.

Finally, easy to install window air conditioning support bracket that installs in minutes from the inside and doesn’t require any drilling, tools hardware or fasteners. Just attach the wings and legs, place in the window and the installation is complete. The Top Shelf A/C Bracket features the following: Avoids damage to the structure/window sills, supports up to 200 lbs., rustproofed, two year , Safe, durable and convenient DISCALIMER: The Top Shelf A/C Bracket works with single or double hung windows between 24" and 38" wide and does not work in slider, crank out, casement and some wood windows, such as the Anderson 400 series. It will also not work with slide out A/C units. The Top Shelf A/C Bracket needs 10” of clearance below the window. It also requires a minimum wall thickness of 6" and maximum wall thickness of 12". The dimension is taken from the inside lower window frame to the exterior sill or ledge if one exists. Always measure the window you intend to use to verify the Top Shelf A/C Bracket will accommodate your window. For further clarification, send photos of your window (open) to the Top Shelf website for review.
