> 3 dayThis unit is identical to a Black and Decker unit being offered on Amazon right now. The Black and Decker offer provides a very helpful instructional video. Watch the B&D instructional video to know how this thing works. I found the B&D video AFTER installing the shelf (and I bought it two years ago). I realized it is not for my type of window (double pane), but it still works for my situation, with some adjustments and customizations.

> 3 dayI had a nightmare time trying to install my 12000BTU AC in my condos window. The window is old and the sill is strange, and other brackets that required bolts just didnt line up properly. I decided to go with this one after reading the wirecutter review and wow did it do the trick. I simply installed the arms and the locking mechanisms and it fit just right. It turned a project I dreaded doing into something I found quite easy and fun. Would buy again.

Very solid
> 3 dayProduct is very solid and fits really well into my window frame. Did slightly adjust where the AC lines up with my window so the lip doesn’t exactly align, and some air gaps increased, but that’s because I have an old style house where the side panels don’t line up with where the window slide open. Some rolled up towels were able to seal the gaps. Definitely feel much better about having my window AC above the front of the house, especially if we experience any big earthquakes, I feel like this will actually stay in the window now. Anyways, my product had a slight defect (defects happens even with the best product manufacture design), I reached out to customer service, and they sent me a replacement piece right away. Replacement piece works great. Would buy again.

Greater than one weekWas easy to install and seemed quite sturdy. Was a touch expensive though and doesn’t really fully bear the weight of the AC except at the window jam. The problem is really with the AC as it doesn’t allow for that suggested 4deg down bubble due to being ‘clipped’ into the window pane. But my landlord said we needed brackets on all AC units so here we are.

> 3 dayYoull likely need a ton of insulating foam to seal up all the cracks this leaves, but it solves a niche issue and for that I am very thankful. The rubber feet pads are terrifyingly hard to press in and fall out almost immediately - also the spring loaded button stops for the arms are not particularly made the best - one refused to pop out no matter what I tried. Rest of the item seems very sturdily built. Like some other reviewers I have outside flush vinyl windows and no real good way to brace a heavier AC. The last AC I put in damaged the window due to its weight so I needed something to help with the bracing, but didnt want to fabricate my own wooden bracket or shove a 2x4 in my lawn. I set this flush with my inside frame, so the arms in front grab on the sides of the window sill - then used a ton of foam to seal up all the cracks. Not the prettiest but definitely is getting the job done so far.

> 3 dayI didnt want to pay ninety-nine dollars for this -- but there was no other solution. I must say, when it arrived I was very impressed with the packaging and build quality and my angst over the price dissipated to the point where I could swallow the price. Packaging -- it comes in foam packaging with cutouts for each part so they safely stay separated and undamaged. Build quality -- theres no way this is bending and it looks to be powder coated for a great finish that wont peel or rust easily. Problem: I had to return it though because it wasnt obvious to me that it would add an inch (eyeball measurement) to the overall height of the window sill. This made it impossible for me to fit my AC in the window. Even if I had been able to fit it in, I wasnt sure I liked how the feet were pressed against the bottom edge of my vinyl siding shingle (is that what its called?). I wish there was a way to lower the legs somehow so that I could place them squarely on the top part that is closest to my actual house where it wont be subject to the same pressure. I worried that over time the vinyl siding would crack.

> 3 dayIt took some time to figure out how to adjust it. Instructions says to put sides in the third hole. Found out that meant third from the shortest setting. After that, I got it in place. As a former welder, I can appreciate the construction of it. My window frame is not the best for it, but got it to work. Placed a 2x6x24 piece of redwood under the AC unit to keep it from tipping too much. Will work better after I anchor the wooden piece. It will give me peace of mind that my A/C unit is well supported and should not put a strain on my apartments window frame.

Greater than one weekThis ac mount is well made. It was packed well too. My Milgard windows are flush with outside wall. Before purchase, I looked at TopShelf Website. I knew the two feet at base would not touch my wall without a little modification. Each foot is removable and has four holes with rubber cushions inserted. I removed the cushions and attached a piece of primed, painted wood (approx 1 in. pad) using wood screws. I believe the attached wood provides even better distribution of force on the stucco wall. The mount works well and looks good.
