> 3 dayUnit does not fit well for NYC condo buildings and after a few emails to the company still have not get word back if this unit is Local Law 11 approved or not for NYC. I do not think it is because it only has one point of attachment to the window frame instead of anchored in to the building. The trough is also not designed for commercial windows found on multiple dweller residential buildings but only for residential homes as the window casing is not as tall as commercial windows are. The bracket will not sit down far enough into the window frame and thus you will have a weird angled AC that will be hard to sit flush against the window. The wings that sit against the window frame could also be made of a higher gauge steel/a little bigger/thicker so as to distribute the weight more and give a better hold. We have a medium sized 12,000BTU AC and it does not sit in the channel like the shelf is designed for. It served its purpose for getting an AC in the window and passing visual inspection but it is not supporting the AC since it does not fit the window frame correctly. Still no word on if it is Local Law 11 approved. for $100 it should be Local Law 11 approved.

Greater than one weekI had a nightmare time trying to install my 12000BTU AC in my condos window. The window is old and the sill is strange, and other brackets that required bolts just didnt line up properly. I decided to go with this one after reading the wirecutter review and wow did it do the trick. I simply installed the arms and the locking mechanisms and it fit just right. It turned a project I dreaded doing into something I found quite easy and fun. Would buy again.

> 3 dayI bought this brace for my new AC and the pins cannot work since the holes do NOT line up .. Attempted to contact company regarding this and they never bothered to get back to me. I also found another person who had the same issue. Poor quality control. Poor customer service. DO NOT BUY UNLESS YOU KNOW HOW TO RE-LINE THE HOLES UP TO FIT

> 3 dayThis shelf has been fantastic. I was not sure if I wanted to buy it due to the price, but it was worth every penny. It was easy to install and did a great job. I got a huge window AC to cool down my living room, dining room, and kitchen so the AC unit was about 90lbs and I didnt want to ruin my windows by not using a brace. This shelf was easy to put together and fit into the window and gave my AC unit the extra support it needed.

> 3 dayWorked very well. Sturdy and well-made. Used it for a 10,000 btu a/c that happened to be the same width as the arms. The platform is 19 wide, the gap between them is 15. The struts have good feet with rubber nubs on them, but I added a wood beam at the bottom to spread the load on the fiber/cement shingles, which are a little brittle. (Not much weight on them so it was probably unnecessary.) Also added a 1/4 sheet of plastic to the platform to slide the a/c on. (Also not necessary.) A small bedroom a/c would look small on this; I also got a Jeacent unit that is 15 wide and fits the small units better.

> 3 dayFirst, this went together very, very easily. I had it assembled, adjusted, and in the window in a few minutes. Sliding the A/C unit in place was very easy. But a couple thoughts on making it a bit better 1) The alternating pins are very clever, but need to be called out in the instructions. I thought something was wrong for a moment, until I realized how it was walking into place, moving one detent at a time. 2) its not clear in the instructions how the wings that hold the inside of the window frame are supposed to fit up against the window frame and trim. I ended up extending the wings as far as I could within the window (based on the flat portion on the bottom), and let the tabs reach as far as they could. 3) I padded the support against the window with some foam, and put some of the foam that came with my A/C unit (meant to be applied to the window sill) to the shelf in a few contact points to reduce the amount of metal-to-metal contact and vibration (its noticeably quieter, now).

> 3 daySuper easy to set up. Read instructions, and it literally takes 5-10 minutes. It is very sturdy, and good quality. The reason I can’t give a good rating and my complaint is that for the price, why on earth would they leave the part where you put your AC with a glossy, very slippery surface?? Why not ad a gritty texture in the paint there, or ad a plastic slip proof surface, so when you are setting the AC on it, it isn’t susceptible to sliding around or even sliding off to possibly a long way down!? I was (an still am) shocked how slick and slippery it is and I want to shift my AC around and put more foam around our window to seal it better, and opening the window and moving it really does make me nervous, because of that huge design flaw.

> 3 dayI used this with a large 14,000 BTU A/C. It was easy to put together and get the A/C installed without having to drill a single hole. My biggest issue was that the instructions were vague and were concentrated solely on the bracket itself. There were no tips or any other types of information that had helped me get a larger window A/C unit installed with this bracket so I had to rely on competitor videos for a better understanding of how it should work. With that said, Id still buy it again now that I know how to get the A/C mounted in the window with the bracket.

> 3 dayI was very impressed with the apparent quality and workmanship of this unit (very versatile for just about any size and application) so I was very disappointed when my contractor tried to install it but said it would not work with my new Frigidaire window a/c unit. Im not a contractor so I cant say for sure why not, but I believe it had to do with the way the base of the a/c was made. They spent a lot of time trying to get it to work, but could not. Amazon return was smooth and painless - but I wish it would have worked. My a/c was installed in a window right over the street and if for no other reason but for visual assurance I wanted a beefy looking shelf unit to support it, and I am sure this would have been perfect -- even though Frigidaire said the a/c did not need any additional support. My 18,000 btu unit was very heavy and the contractor ended up fabricating his own supports for my peace of mind :-). I wish I could give further detailed information as to why it would not work with my a/c (it fit into the window perfectly) to help those reading this review decide whether to purchase - but Im not exactly sure what the contractors were up against but I do know they tried very hard to get it to work.
