    I replaced my consumer-grade router with an EdgeRouter X and the EAP225 v3 AP from TP-Link. In my home environment, everything is performing well, with no slowdowns or reboots. The UI using a web browser is intuitive and easy to navigate. Im powering both my EdgeRouter and the EAP225 with the included 24V POE injector. The AP supports VLAN tagging. I assigned my guest/IOT network to a VLAN on an isolated subnet where my wireless guests can only accesss the internet and DNS/DHCP services on the router. Up to 8 SSIDs per frequency band are supported. Overall performance and stability have been outstanding. This is a cost-effective AP, but you get a lot for your money here.

    This is our second TP-Link WiFi Access Point. Our home has a large, central masonry structure which blocks all WiFi signals in specific corners... of course, the ones where you want to be able to cozy up with a device in an easy chair. After trying to get by with a variety of fine WiFi Routers alone, then with signal repeaters, we decided some extreme measures had to be taken. Fortunately it turned out that the measures were not extreme at all! We already had run Ethernet cable to network streaming devices, so adding a Ethernet splitter at the right spot, and utilizing the TP-Links Power Over Ethernet adapter to send power through the Ethernet 6E cable, we were able to choose exactly the right locations to put access points. Since this is made for a business environment, the capabilities and security options for this device are far beyond what we need for our home, but it is reassuring to know theres potential there and the control software accessed through the web browser is phenomenal. Setup is easiest ion standalone mode, but later adding paps is simple and the resulting coverage even lets me take a device outside the house at some distance. The ceiling mounted installation is also very simple and really unobtrusive once operational.

    Im a big fan of the business line access points from Ubiquiti, TP-Link, Netgear as they tend to have better hardware and customer support than the consumer product line while costing not much more. For comparison I had a Ubiquiti UAP-AC-LR & UAP-AC-HD and a TP-Link EAP225 V3. All three APs had their cons and pros but vastly outperformed the wireless portion of any consumer router I bought. With TP-Link you dont need a controller to setup or access the GUI. Technically Ubiquiti is the same but really you need one in order to change a lot of the major settings. Thats one big plus for TP-Link. TP-Links firmware updates arent as frequent as Ubiquiti, for example, but I find them less buggy. And this is coming from someone who subscribed to their beta channel and liked testing the latest and greatest firmware updates. Setting up this AP is pretty straightforward. Simply plug in the Ethernet and power (if you arent using PoE). You can log into the AP using the IP address which is set up by your router or you can access it over wireless. Mine performed fine for about a week then for some odd reason the 5GHz wasnt being recognized. All of my devices would revert to another AP. After some troubleshooting I discovered the 5GHz radio died. Never had something like that happen to me but glad it happened within the 30-day return window on Amazon which made it easy to get a replacement. The replacement EAP660 HD has been functioning fine since I got it (~3 weeks) and the overall throughput is better than the other APs I had. I was getting 60MB/s with WiFi 5 and 70MB/s+ with WiFi 6 transfer speeds from my devices to my server. Did I mention I had the AP in my basement while all of my devices regularly one or two stories up? Pretty impressive. Two major reasons I bought this AP from TP-Link over Ubiquitis offering is that it has a 2.5GbE PoE port and its fairly affordable. Other companies like Cisco, Meraki, EnGenius would have been way more costly for me.

    Replaced a couple Meraki MR33s with these. Pros: On-prem software controller that runs on linux for the win! Free cloud service (didnt test). Super cheap. Cons: 802.11k, client roaming, sometimes sticky.

    I got 4 of these to put in some offices & setup was kinda honky and weird but simple. Ill know for sure how good they work when my clients use then but the signal was as expected not lightning fast but enough for an office. One of them Im setting up as a gateway but so far havent been able to make that function work, I put the mode in through the app but theres still a separate network listed when searching wifi networks. Hopefully I will find the trick to getting it to function as a gateway withing the main network so server files can be accessed. Al and all they werent that expensive and will do the job as far as I can tell so far

    Im well versed in networks and have set many of these up before. I was replacing an old wifi router that drops out a bunch, so I figured it was time to get separate access points and router. I saw this one offers 450 mbps on 2.4 ghz and 867Mbps on 5GHz. I know that these numbers are in a perfect world and youll never get exactly as advertised, but what I got was abysmal. My internet speeds are 200mbps down/15mbps up. On a wired connection (picture attached) I get 200/16. The other two pics I supplied are side by side with my old Netgear r6400v2 that is dying. Left is the EAP. Right is the dying Netgear. ` As you can see, the old dying netgear beats it on speed on both 2.4 (60ish mbps) and 5ghz (~100mbps). I have confirmed there is nothing else on the channels Im using, and I have tried switching channels. I performed the tests from near and far, with no success. I performed the tests with no other wireless devices connected to the network, with no advantage. Save your money and get something else.

    I bought this for my new house. I got one with the idea that I would get another later to cover the whole house. After installing this though I do not need another. This single AP covers my whole house and I can get a full 5 bars throughout my entire house. The speed is also very good when using the 5Ghz band. I am impressed. I chose this over the Ubiquiti since it has the software built in so there was no need to run controller software on my server. I am also using POE to power it and have had no issues. I am quickly becoming a fan of TP-Link products.

    Exactly what I needed. My modem and router are in the basement and I needed better WiFi coverage on the 2nd floor to support laptops, cell phones, and cameras. I tried extenders but the speed was horrible. This solved my problems and was easy to setup. Also no issue with broadcasting on the same SSID.

    I paired this with a gocoax moca adapter to get wifi to my detached shop as I already had a coax cable running there that I wasnt using for TV. Works great and Im now able to stream youtube tv no problem. Set up took plugging it in, downloading the app, and setting up passwords and that was it. Would recommend.
