    Update 2/22/2023: TP-Link Support provided a beta firmware which fully resolved the issue I was seeing. THANK YOU!! My 2400 sq ft 110 year old plaster-walled home is back to having robust WiFi 6 coverage with just one AP. TP-Link support worked with me, taking note of the problems and various troubleshooting performed, asking appropriate questions, suggesting steps to test solutions, and escalating to engineering. The device ships with firmware 1.0.5, which works just fine, but without mesh capability. Something about my client load and firmware 1.0.6, 1.1.0, and 1.1.1 cause the device to become unstable at high client loads (experienced when several new devices took up residence around Christmas); reducing radio output power slows and prevents the instability/reboots at the expense of range and speed. Update 1/1/2023: After 13 months, this access point has a problem. Happy New Year to me. A half hour before the ball dropped, the WiFi got silly. Every 10 to 20 minutes my EAP660HD reboots, dropping all WiFi since it is my main access point and the head of my home mesh network. This has rendered our WiFi network almost useless. I have gone back to a pair of EAP245 APs--solid but slower. I have a help ticket in to TP-Link for the EAP660 HD. Ill update on customer service and warranty service. For now I downgraded from five stars to two. Original review: I replaced a TPLink EAP245 AC1750 WiFi5 access point with this WiFi6 AP. I have a TP Link EAP225 outside at my shed to cover the back yard connected via mesh to the indoor unit (a firmware update was necessary to support mesh). With the EAP660 HD in the exactly same spot as the EAP245 in the center of my house on the 2nd floor, the signal strength to the outdoor unit was 12db stronger (per the EAP225-Outdoor)--that is over 10x the signal power received at the outdoor unit!! The outdoor speeds are significantly faster now. The extra $90 saved me the time, effort, and money of running cable to the desired performance. And this AP is super fast inside and handles our large home schooled family and all our devices from the latest WiFi6 down to the lowly Wireless N old laptops. A 3D art and animation computer downstairs connects routinely on WiFi6 over a 1 gigabit. I am only running this AP on Gigabit Ethernet, but who cares, since our cable internet is only 300megabits and my network backbone is only gigabit. POE+ 2.5G switches are a small fortune. Just use a TP-Link 48V passive gigabit POE Adapter (TL-POE4824G, $14) so you dont need to find an outlet within six feet of the included power adapter. NOTE: I am using the Omada management software; it is required to create a mesh network. It has performed wonderfully, allowing us to have a managed network at home with fast, seamless roaming, seamless hand-off from 5ghz band down to 2.4ghz as signal strength fades, etc.

    UPDATE: After working with TP Link business customer support over the course of several weeks, I finally got my AP working. Turns out certain CAT 6 cables cant power this device, so I had to return and replace the cable. The device works as expected, but I never did get the Omada Controller piece working. Updating to 4 stars. Original Review: I recently purchased an EAP 225 v3 AP. I am attempting to configure it as an additional AP on my existing network. I have identified the local IP of the device and attempted to access it via a browser but it refuses connection. I have attempted to connect to the default wireless network from multiple devices and they all fail to connect. I have plugged directly into the device and attempted to access the management interface and have failed there as well. In troubleshooting, I ran several portscans on my LAN and found that the device seems to be very unstable. It has gone up and down several times within a period of 30 minutes. When the device is up, all 1000 ports are closed. On the physical device, the green light is solid most of the time, and then about once every thirty seconds it alternates between blinking green and blinking green once, red once, orange once, and then back solid green. With all ports closed, it seems to me that the device is not configured. I have reached out to customer service but if I dont receive a good response shortly, I will be returning, which sucks because install isnt exactly a breeze.

    I read several reviews, saw the top ranking at smallnetbuilder.com, and decided to give this access point a try. I also have an older TP-Link router that resides on a shelf that I use as a backup router and access point. That device has worked quite well over the years for the times I have needed it. I received the EAP225 from Amazon and it arrived with no signs of damage. However, during installation when I plugged in the LAN cable, the connection indicator on my switch did not light up. I could see the access point had power, as its status light went through a boot sequence and arrived at a nice green glow. I could also see that it was broadcasting default SSIDs for both 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz bands. I went ahead and checked my router, and couldnt find any IP assigned to its MAC address. I tried connecting the AP with and without the injector and also tried using TP-Links software to find the device on the wired network. There were no signs on life on the LAN port. I unplugged the AP and connected my old TP-Link router to the line and it was instantly recognized on the network. I got a unit with a bad LAN port. It happens sometimes. I returned the unit and went on to try another brand. I wasted an afternoon playing with this AP, I wasnt about to get another of the same.

    These wifi access points are really great in my network setup. I have two EAP225 wireless access points, a hardware controller, a Jetstream switch, and their TL-ER605 Gateway. One thing I love about these is being able to power them with POE (Power over Ethernet). I was able to free up some plugs in my house. My network is great now and I have one central point to administer it from. I have VPN access to my home network and I am able to diagnose issues early with the analytics they have. I like that there is a local web based administration and an app, unlike many of the new systems that only have an app and seem more controlled by the makers than by the purchasers.

    First, I have two teens and my partner is WFH like many folks are currently. Had a Linksys Velop that would not serve up my Gigabit (think I spelled that right) internet any faster than 130Mbps and would frequently drop much, much lower. Very frustrating when you cannot see whats going on with the network or the access points due to severe software limitations from the vendor. Thats where the TP-Link Omada comes in. I set up my new network using the OC200 controller, managed POE+ switch and two of the 660HD APs. WOW! 500+ Mbps speed using CAT8 cables and I cant tell you how awesome it is to have ROCK SOLID Wifi all over the house.

    This review is for the AC1350 version of the product. Currently I run 4 of these in my home, 5 in a friends home and 8 in my office building. Before these I was using Velop for my office and home setups. These are way better. Pros: The signal, its ridiculously strong. I have a 2800 Sq ft, 2 story home and so I went overboard and bought 4. But in all honesty, when I had just set up the first one, everything in my home connected (over 40 devices) and nothing skipped a beat. I run a smart home, with all the lights, multiple smart speakers and tvs and switches all through wifi. This kept up without fail. Once the others were set up, I simply installed the Omada software on an extra computer I had and connected them all that way. I have them set in bridge so they all use the same SSID and I have set hidden alternate SSIDs for devices I want to always connect to the same one. With these units you can configure multiple networks and VLANs and even setup a guest network within minutes. These come with a POE injector. Which is awesome for the price. You can also set them up via a phone app, but I really like the omada software. Ive had these a few months now and cant brag enough about how solid the wifi has been. There has been zero downtime. Zero. Which is amazing compared to the Velop which would always freeze up. You can also turn off the LED so the light wont bother you and you can use the locate feature to blink the LED so you know which is which when renaming them. This version also has wireless mesh available if you want to get that configured. Its a one click option and the controller handles the rest. Cons: Theres only one con for me... And thats that there isnt an extra gigabit port going out. Other than that, these are perfect.
