> 3 dayI’ve had several other brand of WiFI gear - Netgear, Ubiquiti, Linksys, Apple, Zyxel. I figured that TP-Link was just more consumer-grade junk. With a friend’s recommendation I bought. TP-Link Powerline Ethernet extender. Has worked like a charm for months, where the Apple and Netgear products didn’t fare well. After my Apple AirPort Extreme took a dump, I vowed not to buy anymore Apple products. I have a veritable graveyard or dead Macs, iPhones and other products of theirs that have experienced untimely deaths. No more. This access point was easy to setup. The POE works with the supplied adapter or from a POE switch. Their free, no frills app is simple to use. The AP has been rock solid reliable and provides good WiFi coverage and throughout in a two level 1800 sq ft house plus basement, with no issues.

> 3 dayWas very easy to set up with Omada Router, switch, and controller following several videos on line. I have an old house with lots of dead wifi areas and this setup fixed it. can get full signal anywhere in the house or yard. Have manufactureres considered making an access point that looks like a decorative clock? a huge sunflower (for example) would make it blend in so much better.

> 3 dayI love this, if you have good attic access and now how to run cat 5/6 cable this is the best way to add wifi around the house. No more putting a router on a table or desk. Plan on getting a second onfrom my nighthawk. Just want my nighthawk to just handle the routing table and just us the eap for wifi broadcasting Update: just order a 2nd one and give them both hooked up to the nighthawk, wifi off on nighthawk. Works great and the transition from one router to the other is good but it probably depends on the device.

> 3 dayI have a bunch of smart light switches, assistants, smart plugs, etc., and their constant chatter was overwhelming my WiFi. I tried mesh, as well as using Ethernet backhaul to multiple consumer/gaming routers configured as access points. Even my WiFi calling on my cell would stutter like I had a bad connection. Once I put a few of the EAP660 units in and set up an old notebook as the controller, ALL the WiFi issues of slow throughout and latency are gone. Even my voice assistants and smart devices respond faster to queries! Cell phone calls with WiFi calling are now crystal clear. Be sure to turn on roaming in the advanced settings. The configuration is a bit more complex, because I now use a router without WiFi that feeds into Ethernet to the EAP access points. If you already have a WiFi router, you can use it, but it would be best to turn off the WiFi part and just let it do the routing while your access points do the WiFi. I couldnt be more pleased. Well done, TP-Link!!!

> 3 dayUpdate 2/22/2023: TP-Link Support provided a beta firmware which fully resolved the issue I was seeing. THANK YOU!! My 2400 sq ft 110 year old plaster-walled home is back to having robust WiFi 6 coverage with just one AP. TP-Link support worked with me, taking note of the problems and various troubleshooting performed, asking appropriate questions, suggesting steps to test solutions, and escalating to engineering. The device ships with firmware 1.0.5, which works just fine, but without mesh capability. Something about my client load and firmware 1.0.6, 1.1.0, and 1.1.1 cause the device to become unstable at high client loads (experienced when several new devices took up residence around Christmas); reducing radio output power slows and prevents the instability/reboots at the expense of range and speed. Update 1/1/2023: After 13 months, this access point has a problem. Happy New Year to me. A half hour before the ball dropped, the WiFi got silly. Every 10 to 20 minutes my EAP660HD reboots, dropping all WiFi since it is my main access point and the head of my home mesh network. This has rendered our WiFi network almost useless. I have gone back to a pair of EAP245 APs--solid but slower. I have a help ticket in to TP-Link for the EAP660 HD. Ill update on customer service and warranty service. For now I downgraded from five stars to two. Original review: I replaced a TPLink EAP245 AC1750 WiFi5 access point with this WiFi6 AP. I have a TP Link EAP225 outside at my shed to cover the back yard connected via mesh to the indoor unit (a firmware update was necessary to support mesh). With the EAP660 HD in the exactly same spot as the EAP245 in the center of my house on the 2nd floor, the signal strength to the outdoor unit was 12db stronger (per the EAP225-Outdoor)--that is over 10x the signal power received at the outdoor unit!! The outdoor speeds are significantly faster now. The extra $90 saved me the time, effort, and money of running cable to the desired performance. And this AP is super fast inside and handles our large home schooled family and all our devices from the latest WiFi6 down to the lowly Wireless N old laptops. A 3D art and animation computer downstairs connects routinely on WiFi6 over a 1 gigabit. I am only running this AP on Gigabit Ethernet, but who cares, since our cable internet is only 300megabits and my network backbone is only gigabit. POE+ 2.5G switches are a small fortune. Just use a TP-Link 48V passive gigabit POE Adapter (TL-POE4824G, $14) so you dont need to find an outlet within six feet of the included power adapter. NOTE: I am using the Omada management software; it is required to create a mesh network. It has performed wonderfully, allowing us to have a managed network at home with fast, seamless roaming, seamless hand-off from 5ghz band down to 2.4ghz as signal strength fades, etc.
