> 3 dayNice little scanner that does the job - so far, so good. The instructions are very detailed, so you have to pay attention to them in order to get the scanner up and running properly. Take some time to familiarize yourself with the features before jumping in and trying to make it work. If you jump right in, you will become frustrated very quickly. Also, the antenna that comes with it did not pick up any reception in my location. I picked up the UpBright 16 Dual Band antenna, hooked it up and it picked up reception instantly.

> 3 daywell it is a good handheld scanner, indoor use or handheld works pretty good. pick up police frequency with no problem. loud and clear. store frequency is easy. scan function is good. HOWEVER, dont try to use it in a car. i keep it in my car and while the car is moving in town, the result is not good anymore. so if you would like to use it in car, consider using an additional long car scanner antenna for it. i m guessing it would helps a lot. but overall, this is a good scanner.

> 3 dayThis thing works perfectly. Im using it to feed a scannerradio.com feed for a local PD. Yes, its an incredible under utilization for a scanner like this, but Im providing a service to my neighbors and thats okay for me. Either way, its one of the least expensive scanners that can do what Im doing, and I find it works great. Word of caution, scanning correctly can actually be kind of difficult to get setup correctly. Its not really meant for people that dont have some computer-type skills, or someone available to them that can help set it up.

> 3 dayI cant give you too much technical jargon. What I can say is the following; Very easy to set up. Manual was an easy read. The YOUTUBE videos make programming and setup a snap. My advice before you buy is ask someone in your area about scanning as this is an entry level scanner. It may not do all of what is required in large cities/metropolitan areas. I live in the rural northwest and I am enjoying all the frequencies in my area. I also put rechargable batteries in my scanner and they seem to last about 9 hours a charge. This may vary with your scanner depending on what you have it doing. 4 stars because the plastic feels a little bit brittle and so I handle it with kit gloves.

Greater than one weekPurchased to use for nascar race seeing it was about the same cost to buy as to rent headsets for the weekend. Worked great all weekend on one set of batteries.

> 3 dayWe bought this to take to a Nascar race for the ability to tune into the racers channels and hear what is being said. This was a pretty easy device to program. I simply looked up the Nascar line up, found a YouTube video to show me HOW to turn this, and then input the correct numbers as needed. It worked just fine and doesnt seem to use much battery usage at all.

> 3 dayThis is my first scanner. The menu options took some getting used to and you have to read and re-read the manual a couple of times, but once you learn how to scan, search and store frequencies you are all set. Size and weight wise, it is actually smaller and lighter than what I was expecting and that is of course a good thing. I dont have any information on the range it is catching, but I can hear all the incoming airline pilots who are landing at the airport close to where i live.

> 3 dayFortunately, I have had a lot of experience with police scanners. This one worked right out of the box once I programmed it and put batteries in it. Was easy to program using the keypad on the unit itself. I have heard that it can be programmed using a computer, but I havent tried that yet. But it works fine and was easy to set up. For those reviewers that did not seem to be able to figure it out, all I have to say to that is you actually have to be smarter than the box the unit came out of. It is so simple. I didnt even read the owners manual when I set it up, and I was able to do it. There is nothing wrong with this unit and it is easy to set up, and yes, it works great. UPDATE: I just installed the software from the Uniden website to program this scanner using my computer, and I have to say programming the scanner using my computer is so much easier, especially when adding a new bank of frequencies. Anyone that has trouble programming this, Uniden does have a good YouTube video that will walk you through it, which you can also get from the Uniden website. I found it by using Google. Way to easy.

> 3 dayThey need to make the antenna NOT be detachable. Mine fell out of my pocket and then when I sat down, I lost the antenna. Like - gone. Where did it go? Well the answer came 4 months later when I had my colonoscopy. Doctor removed it but it was half digested and no longer functioned as intended.

> 3 dayGood reception in my town even with stock antenna. Using store bought energizer rechargeable batteries, they last plenty long enough. The only annoying thing about these is the low battery alarm beep that cannot be disabled. The alarm beep volume is determined by the current output volume so if you have it set high, the alarm beep will be somewhat loud too. Its a very frequent beep.
