> 3 dayFIrst usage at the track as a corner worker and Im somewhat impressed. Battery life was pretty good, with a set of AA batteries lasting about 12 hrs (1.5 days) before it needs to be changed. Controls are not intuitive, so youll need to spend some time with the manual just to turn it on. Unfortunately the manual spends a lot of time discussing scanning scenarios, but as a track worker I know the frequency I want to monitor, and the manual doesnt give many hints as to how best to handle that situation. Picked up transmissions without issue, and was as clear as the high-end track issued radio our station captain was assigned. Belt clip worked well and kept the unit on my belt even when jogging to respond to things. One issue Ive had is getting decent volume into my headset (a Racing Electronics headset), but that may very well be a function of the headset as opposed to the scanner as when I unplug the headset then the volume of the scanner through its own onboard speaker is plenty loud. Id recommend this my fellow corner workers.

> 3 dayI bought 2 of these which were said to be used. They were brand new, still in the box. One still had teh plastic across the face, and the other didnt. Both worked amazing from the start and work BETTER than my Realistic Pro107. I put a stronger antenna (less than $4 on ebay) and can pick up over 50 miles away! I love the computer program feature which got me over 200 channels. I can now pick up everything in the surrounding area and can hear the ambulances! I also pick up fire, railroad traffic, and all the police, county sheriff, and highway patrol. Im beyond happy with my purchase from Amazon!

> 3 dayThe Bearcat BC75XLT is a great starter scanner for the beginner. I am finding this device to be a huge asset when it comes to knowing what is going on around me. Search my name, the make and model of this scanner on Youtube for a complete in-depth video presentation. Features I like about this radio: * Searching through the VHF/UHF frequencies is very fast. * 300 Memory Channels * Priority Channel mode. * Close Call mode. * Great reception when compared to my other HTs. * Customized Search feature that can be done directly on the radio. * Ten Service Bands, makes finding certain frequencies that much quicker. * Delay...oh how you need this. * Good build quality. * Uses 2 AA batteries, either Alkaline or NiMH. * Smart Charger built in for the NiMH batteries. * USB power can supply the radio enough power to run without battteries. * USB connectivity to the computer for downloading and uploading data to the scanner. Free software download. * Included USB cable. * Headphone jack is excellent, no noise, clean sound. * Nice and evenly lit LCD display. * Scanning stored channels is a breeze, and can be customized. * Temporary and Permanent lock out feature. * Informative Manual, lots of detail. Features that could be added or improved on: * A separate squelch knob would be fantastic. * A monitor button. * A full stop on frequency when searching. This would be nice so you dont have to have your finger resting on the hold button all the time. Overall, for the cost of this portable scanner, I am very impressed and recommend this as a first scanner to purchase and learn with. Just enough to keep you busy for months. I am surprised by the amount of analog activity that still exists around me.

> 3 dayNice little unit, worked as expected. The only comment is the programming of the unit was a pain in the a*&. I ended up using the computer / USB interface to program it. I had to learned the hard way to save my work on my computer before sending it to the scanner, and remember every time I added new channels I had to work off of the old setup / profile or I lost the channels I had already setup. Nice little option for the money. I would have given it five stars if the programming was easier. I never did get one channel programmed off the units keypad itself, and the instructions really didnt help me.

> 3 daywell it is a good handheld scanner, indoor use or handheld works pretty good. pick up police frequency with no problem. loud and clear. store frequency is easy. scan function is good. HOWEVER, dont try to use it in a car. i keep it in my car and while the car is moving in town, the result is not good anymore. so if you would like to use it in car, consider using an additional long car scanner antenna for it. i m guessing it would helps a lot. but overall, this is a good scanner.

26-04-2025I bought this scanner based on the good reviews and fairly low price. I wanted something decent but not astronomical in price, but not cheep either. I have hardy been able to use it. I have tried so many different rechargeable batteries it isnt funny and NONE of them work for more than 5 or 10 minutes before the unit starts beeping and flashing the low battery warning. I take the batteries out and test them and they ALL show fully charged. Im not using cheep batteries either. I am a photographer and use expensive batteries in my equipment and even those dont work in this thing. Regular batteries with the switch on Alkaline work fine, but Im not going to go through batteries every other week to keep the thing running. The worst part is Unidens customer service. I have submitted two warranty claims with them because apparently the didnt get the first one because I never even got so much as an automated response after filling out the form. After filing a second claim, I did get an automated response with return instructions. I questioned the return shipping policy on a warranty claim and never got a response. Then my claim was marked as closed. I have been dealing with their warranty department for months and had I known they would be so bad, I would have just returned it to Amazon... now its way too late to do that. Having been in and around the fire service all my life, I always thought Uniden to be a reputable company. Now Im not so sure.

Greater than one weekquick frequency install via internet radio frequencies list for owners( 80 mile area.) antenna provided 5 inch is fine but i put it to my old analog scanner one foot long multi element (at peak of rooftop antenna )and got so much going on at s c a n mode. get one of these and you can quickly hear that police emergency vehicle transmitt clear speech going tothat location ( of your curosity.) offers options like 200 lock out channels that made noise when scanning. buy two each 2300 mh aa batteries and listen for a couple of days current draw very low.these go for twice the cost elsewhere , see you tube reviews and how to plug and play . enter scanner bc75 xlt at search space.

> 3 dayThis is my seventh hand held scanner and tenth total, and I must admit, even for a seasoned user, programming frequencies in this scanner is not as straight forward as others I have owned. The good news, great news actually, is that Uniden provides a free download for both the drivers to connect the scanner to a PC and a FREE software package that is super easy and fast to use. I use this type of scanner mainly for listening at auto races, and after ham thumbing the first three of about sixty frequencies I needed to load I figured it would be easy and quicker to download the driver and software and go from there. The programming software is super intuitive, will run on anything from Windows XP to 8.1, and you can save the frequency package as a file, which means you can have multiple files of frequencies at the ready. It uses a standard USB cord, included. The only reason I did not give this unit five stars is the somewhat cumbersome method of manually loading frequencies, and I have not yet been able to determine how (or if) you can page through your frequencies one by one, versus having to use the hold, channel number, hold method. A little awkward, but no big deal. Amazons shipping was stellar as usual, and the unit was mint fresh new! EDIT: I have changed my score from four stars to useless. I am very careful with my equipment. I used this radio a dozen times at most, and the display became erratic, showing only half the characters. I did further review, and discovered this is a constant complaint regarding this specific model. I disassembled it, and it is not in any way a user repairable item because of the way they connected the ribbon cable to the chassis. So this is now a piece of junk. Do not buy!

> 3 dayThere’s nothing like the original bearcat scanner. This one is a little difficult to program too many steps. I always have to look up on you tube when I’m going to program it.
