> 3 dayThis scanner is great for small town cities but not for the big cities. Its a great scanner for what it does. Probably one of the most affordable scanners available. But if youre looking to get big cities you probably want to go with a digital scanner. Because that is what most emergency services today use. You will still get to listen in on some agencies. But most are digital and this is only analog. If you are wondering if your favorite em. service is using digital, look it up online. Thats my one piece of advice. But its a great little scanner! It has a BOATLOAD of programmable channels that you can designate. It also has a feature built into it where you can select what you want to listen to (i.e. fire, police, air, marine,.....) and it will scan certain frequencies that the selected agencies use. which is very handy! So if youre looking for a great, affordable, and easy to use scanner for every day use, this is for you (depending on your wants and needs (Digital or Analog))!

Greater than one weekSO happy I purchased this tiny little powerhouse! I have always had a large desktop scanner or even a few base scanners (huge, heavy things). This is right on my nightstand next to my telephone and I enjoy it every single evening without fail. Easy to SEARCH then find the frequencies you like and set them up in the BANKS so you can SCAN. I didnt have any problems at all and know I will enjoy this while out in the back woods or camping or taking along on trips. Excellent purchase.

14-01-2025I bought this scanner based on the good reviews and fairly low price. I wanted something decent but not astronomical in price, but not cheep either. I have hardy been able to use it. I have tried so many different rechargeable batteries it isnt funny and NONE of them work for more than 5 or 10 minutes before the unit starts beeping and flashing the low battery warning. I take the batteries out and test them and they ALL show fully charged. Im not using cheep batteries either. I am a photographer and use expensive batteries in my equipment and even those dont work in this thing. Regular batteries with the switch on Alkaline work fine, but Im not going to go through batteries every other week to keep the thing running. The worst part is Unidens customer service. I have submitted two warranty claims with them because apparently the didnt get the first one because I never even got so much as an automated response after filling out the form. After filing a second claim, I did get an automated response with return instructions. I questioned the return shipping policy on a warranty claim and never got a response. Then my claim was marked as closed. I have been dealing with their warranty department for months and had I known they would be so bad, I would have just returned it to Amazon... now its way too late to do that. Having been in and around the fire service all my life, I always thought Uniden to be a reputable company. Now Im not so sure.

> 3 dayPurchased to use for nascar race seeing it was about the same cost to buy as to rent headsets for the weekend. Worked great all weekend on one set of batteries.

> 3 dayFor the price, this thing works great. I am a rail enthusiast, and this thing works great for use in the car when Im out looking for trains. The only thing I will say to detract from it is that the antenna that comes with the unit is not the best for any one frequency range just because of the design. An antenna designed to pick up such a wide range of frequencies is just not going to receive as well as one cut specifically for that frequency. Id recommend investing in an antenna more specifically attuned to the frequencies youll be scanning, but other than that, this is an excellent little scanner for the price!

> 3 daysince the FCC have changed the frequency and codes for scanners and 2 way radios i have been looking for an updated radiio. since mine are older models they will not except the codes because of different frequency. off and on i would check amazon to find a good radio that will except the the frequency and reasonable price. i finally found one and yes it was refurbished but it was at a reasonable price i can afford. i contacted the seller to find out if it will except the updated frequency and within the next business day i got an email stating yes it does. so i ordered and got it in a few days. yes it took some time to figured it out and to reprogram it but in a half hour i had the frequencies put in. so now instead of listening to my officers i now can here the dispatch as well. the only thing that i have to say negative is that for some reason the town that is my county has a different frequency which i can still pick up on my older model but not on this one. they are the only town that has its own code # but i dont think it has to do with the radio itself. i love and i love the honesty when emailing back and forth with the company i bought it from. thank you guys.

> 3 dayFIrst usage at the track as a corner worker and Im somewhat impressed. Battery life was pretty good, with a set of AA batteries lasting about 12 hrs (1.5 days) before it needs to be changed. Controls are not intuitive, so youll need to spend some time with the manual just to turn it on. Unfortunately the manual spends a lot of time discussing scanning scenarios, but as a track worker I know the frequency I want to monitor, and the manual doesnt give many hints as to how best to handle that situation. Picked up transmissions without issue, and was as clear as the high-end track issued radio our station captain was assigned. Belt clip worked well and kept the unit on my belt even when jogging to respond to things. One issue Ive had is getting decent volume into my headset (a Racing Electronics headset), but that may very well be a function of the headset as opposed to the scanner as when I unplug the headset then the volume of the scanner through its own onboard speaker is plenty loud. Id recommend this my fellow corner workers.
