> 3 dayIts only Spring so far, so have not been able to test the umbrella on intense days as yet. The material is thick and flexible, so seems like it will do a good job. I gave it less than a five star rating because it is a bit on the heavy side. I use an umbrella in strong sun and have done so for over ten years. Ive previously had a couple that were VERY light weight which is helpful when you are tucking them into a bag or holding it up for an hour or two. The lighter two came from travels in Hong Kong and were also much less expensive. I had the expectation that this umbrella, for the price, would have a great, lightweight frame. However, Im still basically pleased with it, and hope it will last for some time.

> 3 dayThis umbrella works exactly as advertised. The sun in Hawaii in the summertime can be brutal when its directly overhead and this umbrella provides cool shade wherever I happen to be. The reflective coating makes a very real difference. I have a very nice black Knirps compact umbrella and it provides shade but I can still feel the heat coming through. Its blocking the visible spectrum but the infrared is still coming through. The only con with it is that its a pain to fold this little umbrella up when Im through using it. Its got an added section on top thats supposed to keep it from turning inside out in the wind. That extra fabric has to be carefully folded before it can be rolled up small enough to fit in its bag. This takes time. So if youre in a hurry youve got a problem. I dont think that extra fabric provides enough function to justify it being part of the umbrella. Id like to see it fold up as quickly as my Knirps does. Bottom line is it provides enough added protection against the sun to justify the hassle folding it up. For me.

Greater than one weekI tested it and i could tell the difference of how it was blocking sun compared to regular umbrellas.

> 3 dayWalking through Masada and Petra in 110 degree heat made this purchase very worth it. Im not sure if it really cooled down the temperature by ten degrees, as promised, but it did provide a lot of relief. And it is was small enough to carry around without being a burden. Good in the rain too!

Greater than one weekI received first one broken. After trying another brand and finding their canopy still let a lot of light in, I decided to give this one another try. So I ordered this again, plus I was happy to find a medium size one just a smidge bigger, (I dont notice the size difference when I use), but without the compact folding. I hoped the simpler closing mechanism would wear better. So I bought two of these, the small compact and the medium. (they also make a golf umbrella umbrella, which I havent tried). Ive had both for a few months now, I predominantly use the medium, almost daily, and its held up well and is great. I love having it with a history of skin cancer and being in Arizona, I need this to walk dog or just go in and out of the yard doing chores during the day. Occasionally I use the compact, the size is nice if you travel, and I havent had any issues (or used a lot but I do use here and there). Im glad I gave it another try and the initial one that I received defective was hassle free to return and cost me nothing. So you dont have a lot to lose trying this out. Its been really great to have one of these.

> 3 dayThis is probably my worst Amazon purchase of all time and here’s why: the handle is not even 18 inches long. This means you need to hold your arm up high to keep it off your head and so you can see in front of you. There’s no resting it on your shoulder or anywhere. You have little to no leverage which makes it very hard on your wrist. Yes, the fabric does block the light but due to its very small size, it needs to be repositioned constantly. It has a very long Velcro strap that flops around in your face. When opening and closing, it’s like firing a gun. Super loud POP- And last but not least, when folded up it is very bulky and in no way lightweight. This product is not good for travel, the elderly, children, or anyone that will be in the sun for any length of time. I do not like this product and find the poor design to be a big waste of money

Greater than one weekOverall I’m very happy with this umbrella. I walked around Tokyo and with this umbrella I was def cooler and sweated a lot less than I usually do. I’ve never used any other umbrealla, so I can’t say for sure how much different it is, but watching other people walk with umbrellas, I did notice the sun getting though theirs, but mine was completely blocked out. So for the parts I didn’t like. When the umbreall is rolled up is a super thick, and a little heavy. I didn’t mind carrying it around. It was just wrapping it that was kinda annoying. The Velcro strap would barely go around and I’m sure that it will break eventually. I personally don’t lik the silver color, but I understand it’s supposed to be the best option for reflecting the sun. Just wish it didn’t look so cheap and bland. It is a little hard to close, but really easy to open. It’s a decent size that you wont bump into people walking past them, but at the same time, for all that bulk you are carrying around I wish it did have more coverage. Or the ver least bend in more. It’s too small for the rain. I was still getting pretty wet, and missed my regular umbrealla, but I know this is supposed to be for th sun, but I’m just emphasizing on the lack of coverage. Oh, and if you get a small guest a wind. You’re done. This thing is flipping up like those old cartoons. I was kinda surprised how easily this would just flip up from a very small breeze. Oh, and the handle length is really short. I was switching arms constantly because it was kinda too short. Other than that I do think this is worth the price. I’m sure the bulk has to do with the protection factor, but the other things they could fix in a updated version. I will most likely stick with this brand and even upgrade if they made a newer version. Just the comfort of walking around all day without th sun beating on you is worth it IMO.

> 3 dayI gave this three stars because it does block the sun and I like that it is certified as a UV blocker umbrella. However, if the smallest hint of wind hits it, it begins to jiggle around. If there is a little bit of wind, the flaps begin folding up in use like a regular umbrella would in real wind. Im in Florida and have several cheap umbrellas stashed in different locations for impromptu rains with wind and they dont move around like this one. Im guessing its the material. So, I love the concept but it seems like this particular umbrella isnt built well for the heavier material. Since it wasnt cheap, Im a bit disappointed.

> 3 dayThis umbrella does exactly what I wanted it to do. It keeps the sun off me and keeps me cooler. It’s a lifesaver for outdoor sporting events in the sun. I wanted this travel size for ease of carrying. It is a little on the heavy side, but so worth it!

> 3 dayI’ve had this uv umbrella for almost 4yrs now. I use this umbrella almost daily during the summer. I love how it feels noticeably cooler under the umbrella when it’s really sunny and hot outside. This has gone with me to Jamaica, Mexico, and Florida. I wouldn’t travel without it. It’s compact enough for me to easily carry along in a purse. It’s a bit pricey, but I think it’s very much worth the price. Buy it!
