I used this in September in Jordan and Egypt where temperatures were, at times, well over 100 degrees Fahrenheit. It was definitely effective in shielding from the blistering sun but be prepared that it is a bit heavier than a rain umbrella of similar size. A bit if a funky chemical odor too but I was grateful to have this as it allowed me to really enjoy the historical sights without melting

My wife has been unsuccessfully looking for a good sun-umbrella for a long while...finally 2 years ago we brought our first uv-blocker travel umbrella: we really appreciated it!!! The travel umbrella, used in sunny and rainy days, is still perfect!!! Recently we received 2 compact: top quality confirmed! My wife uses to keep one inside her bag. In our opinion the uv-blocker umbrellas are the best available, effective and longlasting.

I like everything about this product. My dermatologist warned me to stay out of the sun since I have had many spots removed. Since I teach in Texas and take the students outside daily, I decided to upgrade from my regular umbrella and get something better. I call it my SUNBRELLA. Positives: blocks out TONS of light, one button to open and close, folds up small, big when opened, keeps you cooler, quality fabric. Negatives: the wind flips it inside out. I recommend this particular sunbrella to anyone who needs protection from the sun or wants to stay cooler from heat.

My wife as Lupus and cant spend too much time in the sun. So we have many solar protection products. This umbrella is a great product. For travel, you cant beat its compactness, light weight, and functionality. The blue underside is upbeat and the handle is very comfortable. We recently used it in South Carolina on vacation daily, during the heat wave - it was nearly 100 degrees every day! And this umbrella performed very well for sun protection while touring. Only slight downside is that, as others have stated, this umbrella does not do well in the wind. A strong wind (like at the beach) will cause it to invert - easy to fix but annoying. Since the canopy is vented for pressure relief, I think they could easily reinforce this umbrella to make it tolerate a good wind. But it is not bad enough to detract from the functionality as a good touring solar umbrella - just dont expect it to work at the beach or other windy situations. We also have a golf umbrella version of this umbrella that is totally wind proof, but it does not travel well. Overall, this ia a great umbrella and a welcome addition to our solar protection arsenal!

Hello, My review of this Umbrella is after using it about five times in Florida weather, including very hot (about 3pm) sun/humidity, I mean VERY hot and on a moderate day with mild wind gusts. We walked about 1/4 mile each way testing out this umbrella. Both my daughter and I tested it and together we came up with our review. I hope this is helpful. I had also just purchased a $15.99 umbrella from Walgreens a few weeks prior so I will do some comparison with this one as well. 1. First impression of this umbrella was that for the price, it was small in circumference and felt (when holding) to be flimsy. My Walgreens umbrella felt about the same. I thought I had purchased a more sturdy, well built umbrella but IMO this is definitely not the case. 2. The mechanical aspect of this umbrella was not impressive either, in fact, the rods (for lack of better term) that hold the umbrella material were made of what felt like the typical cheap plastic from China. 3. The handle is quite small as you can see in the picture. Quite difficult to hold on to even in the slightest of wind. 4. VERY difficult to close. In fact, I had to press it against my stomach or a hard surface to get it closed. 5. Okay so about heat deflection....I honestly did not feel any difference underneath my Walgreens umbrella than I did this umbrella. Sure wish I had better news but for us anyway, this umbrella was a big disappointment and seems to be cheaply built or a least not built any better than the cheaper ones. See my pictures for more information Thank you for reading and I hope you have better luck than we did. I dont see a link to post photos but if you would like photos please contact me and I would be glad to send them to you.

I have very fair skin and live in Hawaii so I normally not only wear sunscreen every day but also carry around a compact umbrella - useful for both sun and rain. I finally decided to splurge though and get myself something with real UV protection and Ive been very happy with this product. The double layer and UV coating make the umbrella slightly heavier and bulkier than your average compact but the shade you get out of it is well worth the extra effort. It is several degrees cooler in its shade, not to mention that Im in no danger of getting sunburned. The vents also do a pretty good job allowing you to hold the umbrella steady even when its a little gusty although there are limits, of course.

The plus, is that it came earlier than expected. On day two of use, I noticed that the frame of the umbrella created tiny holes on the material. You could see them on the outer fabric. I believe that the fabric used is very delicate and the rod-like framework is sharp and creates these tiny holes in the material. I believe it has everything to do with the way the umbrella opens and closes. It literally shots it open and close with the button. I have own many umbrella before. This one is the first to open and close so quick (forces the frame open/close while pressing through the material). The shade is awesome even in high temperatures (105 degrees in dry heat). It makes it more bearable to walk in the heat! I am sad that this really didnt work out as I thought it would. Just wish the material was thicker and the rods not so sharp! That is why I am returning this umbrella within 1 week of purchase.

Saved my skin while in Hawaii! It was recently my first time there so I had no idea the sun was so piercing - I felt like one minute without sunscreen would cause me to start burning. Luckily I carried this umbrella wherever I go so I didnt always have to slather on sunscreen. It comes with a little case which I promptly discarded (because lets be honest, who is going to take the time and squeeze it back in?). It also has a bit of a weird smell at first but it goes away in a few days.
