Vornados sleek new 660 model is their smallest whole room unit Ive used. Its comparable to their Vornado 733 (which Ive used for years). Besides the smaller size and sleek design, it adds infinite angle adjustment, push-button power/speed settings, and a much shorter cord. Its slightly quieter. See my pics for a side-by-side comparison (the new 660 is the smaller unit with silver trim). This model (660), compared to the 733: * 4 speeds vs 3 speeds * Push-buttons (on the top of the back) instead of a dial (in the middle of the back) * Infinite adjustable (slides along a metal support bracket allowing pick-an-angle) * Slightly smaller across the head of the fan, and much less deep (the back of the stand is eliminated), so its much more compact. * Slightly quieter * Lower power consumption at low, similar at medium * Shinier * Power cord is 2-3 feet shorter. Negatives: * The power cord is too short for all the places Ive used Vornados before, I had to use a power strip as an extension cord. * There is an audible beep from each button press, I dont like devices that make noise for no reason. * Power-on goes to the highest fan setting (rather than last setting). Ideal would be if the speed buttons also acted as power-on buttons. * The lower settings dont move all that much air. Unfortunately Vornado, like other fan manufacturers, doesnt generally provide CFM (air flow) and dBa (noise) ratings on its fans, even though these are likely the two most important metrics to fan-buying consumers. I dont have a way to measure those, but I did compare power usage. Note this is versus a 733 that has been running non-stop for 4+ years (so its motor may be less efficient or dirtier than ideal): 660 (1) vs 733 at low: 30W vs 42W Setting 1 is notably quieter (and less air flow) than low on the Vornado 733. If you use this setting, and the fan runs non-stop all year, youd save 105kwh with the newer fan, about $11 at my average energy pricing (approx). But this setting moves too little air for my purposes. 660 (2) at med-low: 37W Setting 2 has some audible noise and moderate airflow. If you used this setting instead of medium on the Vornado 733, and the fan runs non-stop all year, youd save 70kwh with the newer fan, about $7 at my average energy pricing. This setting moves enough air to be useful (but not enough to circulate my open foyer/staircase). 660 (3) vs 733 at medium: 46W vs 45W Setting 3 has noteworthy audible noise and moderate-high airflow, very similar to the medium on the older fan. At this setting they essentially have the same power draw. I didnt test high since its too loud for me to ever use. Neither fan showed any vampire draw: the power meter indicated 0 meaning less than 1W of draw while powered off. If you need substantial air flow (as in between two rooms or in an open foyer, at medium) and are not space constrained, the

Ive tried other types of fans but nothing compares to these vornado fans! They work great and last for years! Definitely does the job circulating air through the house. We have a big home with window AC units and these fans do the job to help move the air through and cool down the rest of the house! We use this one in our high ceiling living room and I can feel the wind blowing from it all the way upstairs from the landing that looks down into the room.

Powerful! I have 3 other models. Great for cooling an entire room. Turn on switch in a strange place, but doesn’t take away from the fans power.

We just spent almost $17,000 for a state of the art AC unit a couple weeks ago due to the phasing out of R22 / Freon and wanting to not continue punching holes in the Ozone later. As budding hippies we wanted to do the world a service but ended up super depressed when it was 115 degrees out and we discovered that the new units don’t really cool as well as the clunky old enviro-killers that were the R22s. Even with the thermostat at 72 degrees b our bedroom would hit 80 stuffy degrees due to ductwork and the fact that it is living on the roof where it is 165 degrees in the blistering Arizona sun. Anyway, you want to hear about the Vornado, not my rude awakening about modern AC units. So I was crazy excited about this purchase and was waiting at the door for it. I had watched some YouTube reviews and was sold even before the endings. Take my money NOW!!! Unboxing was standard. Very nicely packaged and a very solid fan. I adored how robust it feels and that it isn’t on a pedestal. Having 3 fans in the bedroom is not only a pain for us but confusing for our poor Roomba that is officially afraid of trying to map / chart our floor layout due to constantly moving pedestal fans. And cords everywhere. Just no. Anyway, we set up our little Vornado (the 660 is the model we went with) on the bedroom dresser and turned it on. Woah! It wasn’t fake force wind “WOAH!” but more like wind chill “woah.” We have a hot spot in the bedroom between the bed and window that gets really hot and stuffy. Our thermometer there reads 78-79 degrees. Well, I have taken all the pedestal fans out of the bedroom and have been running the Vornado for about 25 minutes and we are already reading 76 degrees and dropping. The ice cold air from our hallway is actually mixing in with the hot bedroom air and cooling effectively like the AC fan and ceiling fan is failing at. Mind you it is 107 outside and climbing. I can’t even describe my joy. We sat on the bed and it feels like cold air is going all around us. No weird hot spots or humidity. Just a really consistent “cold air is all around me” feeling and the absolute bliss that I don’t have to drop another 10k on ripping out all the ductwork. Guess who is buying another one of these for the guest suite? Yeah. This girl right here. 5 stars. I’m absolutely sold on this.

I live in a small one bedroom in NYC with a very overactive radiator, so my bedroom can get very hot at night. This thing set in the corner and angled up toward the ceiling in the direction of my bed is so cooling. For the size it’s so powerful. Really pleased with it though it is louder than I’d prefer. Like a loud wind sound, not necessarily a mechanical sound. If you like white noise it might even be pleasant. I like white noise but think it’s still a touch too loud and wear earplugs to dull the sound a bit (and generally city sounds, the radiator, etc) to a volume that I do like. Overall I’d recommend it.

This van does not take up much room, but is a great cooler for a bedroom.

Its getting hot in here, so hot, so take off all your....wait you want me to what? Well, rather than taking off your clothes like Nelly suggested, we recommend picking up a Vornado air circulator to cool down your room rather than taking off all your clothes to beat the heat. Now a couple of things to know before you make the big jump to purchase this item. Is it expensive? YES! Will it cool your room down without needing to buy an expensive AC? Sort of. The fan does do a nice job of circulating the air around the room. Placing the fan with the head projected at the ceiling or wall will make the air bounce around in multiple directions to make the feeling of the air being circulated around no matter where you stand at. HOWEVER, the large to medium size models does a nice job of cooling down a small-medium size room, but it does not have the same impact on VAULTED CEILINGS. We suggest buying a larger model than the large size circulator if you have vaulted ceilings. You will still feel the air being circulated, but not as strongly as you would compared to it being placed in a non-vaulted ceiling area. It does not do a good job of cooling a room with hot air inside. We found that a combination of turning on the AC and turning on the fan allows the cold air to be circulated around nicely, however when the AC was turned off, the circulator would then just blow hot air around. We have a

Let me start by saying, if i was rating the function of the fan itself it’s a 5 star fan. The glaring problem is the stand. It does not stay locked in at the angle you put it. The vibration of the fan slowly makes it slide on the metal adjustment guide tilting it up in the air. If it had a simple lock it would be about perfect.

This fan is exactly what I needed in every way. First of all its not actually a fan, its a circulator. When this thing is running even on the lowest setting my entire bedroom has a very gentle whirlwind of air moving about. But the most important reason that I purchased it is because I need a little bit of white noise when I sleep. On the quietest setting this thing makes a pretty ample amount of white noise. How noisy? In my bedroom standing 7 ft from the circulator 1 - with the circulator turned off I registered 27 decibels 2 - with the circulator turned on the quietest setting I registered 42 decibels 3 - with the noise circulator turned on maximum, I registered 58 dB If you are unfamiliar with how decibels work, its hard for me to quantify, but I can assure you that it gets much noisier the higher You turn it up. If you are looking for something that makes a really nice but peaceful white noise while laying in bed, this is absolutely it.

If you are looking for a fan that moves a lot of air & provides consistent white noise, youve found it. There is NO rattling. I tried a different Vornado fan that fit my decor but it rattled. They sent me a new one. It rattled. I gave up & purchased this less expensive model that doesnt fit my decor & I am very happy with it. I would recommend this fan to anyone...

The Vornado 460 Air Circulator combines the signature Vornado grill and deep-pitched propeller to move air up to 70 feet, while aerodynamically circulating all the air in a room. The 3-speed control allows for speed selection to meet any circulation need. Have absolute control of airflow, with the fully adjustable chrome glide bar. Use the 460 all year long for added comfort and energy savings in every season.
