> 3 dayI decided on the Tornado 660 after searching for one small fan for my bedroom to replace a large white noise machine and standup fan. This was the Perfect purchase. I use the highest setting at night for the noise. Since it is not as loud as my sound machine, I was concerned it wouldnt be enough but actually is just enough soft noise. The air flow is beyond what I expected. I keep my house 67/68 degrees and have a medium size bedroom. My room was noticeably cooler in minutes. A lower setting would cool the room if you are not wanting the noise. The fan design is a plus, I love the look.

> 3 daythis is a very powerful small fan. it blows a lot of air in one direction. has a sturdy base. it wont fall over if the cat knocks it. it does not oscillate, but you can adjust the direction of air stream up or down. my only gripe is the fans position is held by friction- and it slips a little. if you aim the fan toward the ceiling, or the floor for that matter, it will eventually level out. (l guess that means its well-balanced) l resolved this issue by jamming a toothpick between the frame and the bracket to hold its position. no big deal. this fan has been been busy since its arrival. it still appears clean. l dont think the guard comes off, so it might be tough to clean. well see... l would buy this fan again. its way more effective than a $10 fan from a box store

> 3 dayThis fan is exactly what I needed in every way. First of all its not actually a fan, its a circulator. When this thing is running even on the lowest setting my entire bedroom has a very gentle whirlwind of air moving about. But the most important reason that I purchased it is because I need a little bit of white noise when I sleep. On the quietest setting this thing makes a pretty ample amount of white noise. How noisy? In my bedroom standing 7 ft from the circulator 1 - with the circulator turned off I registered 27 decibels 2 - with the circulator turned on the quietest setting I registered 42 decibels 3 - with the noise circulator turned on maximum, I registered 58 dB If you are unfamiliar with how decibels work, its hard for me to quantify, but I can assure you that it gets much noisier the higher You turn it up. If you are looking for something that makes a really nice but peaceful white noise while laying in bed, this is absolutely it.

Greater than one weekI really am impressed by this fan. It has great white sound on medium and high. It really circulates the air in my bedroom.

> 3 dayI love this fan! Its perfect for my need which is in a smallish condo bathroom with no window. I take a lot of long bubble baths and need air circulation - and with hot showers too obviously . A hot bath is wonderful but without airflow, it gets too hot and suffocating! I could drag my big Lasko cyclone or wind machine floor fan to the bathroom door but thatd be a pain everytime. It is the perfect size too. I had one of those (worthless) tower fans that even on high is not much better than this fan on low or low-medium. For a long bath, Ive found the 3rd highest setting is perfect pointed at me about 7-8 feet away and then after, I point it more upwards and crank it to the next level which is the highest I think - just to get everything in the bathroom good and dry (mirror, towels, whatever). It takes up the same diameter floor space as the tower fan I had but really works MUCH better. The noise on the first or second setting is barely audible but the 3rd and 4th settings are definitely louder but not so loud that I cant hear my music or anything. I know this is a long review for a fan, and quite pricey but if it works to keep me cool during baths and keeps the room from turning into a swampy rainforest after that or showers - its worth it. Trust me, Ive tried many fans (including other small floor fans) for this particular need and finally found it :) In this case, I feel its money well spent. Also small and light enough to easily take to a friend or family members home if need be. My only minimal complaint is that the chrome handle on the back is quite difficult to move the fan position up and down. Also, I wish it oscillated from side to side but considering for the size its the strongest breeze fan in such a small size - and for my needs - Im keeping it!

Greater than one weekWhen I first opened the box I thought this fan might be too big for my room (13 x 11) but in fact it is just perfect. And on the low speed so quiet! Its been running steadily 24/7 for 8 months now with no problem. A well designed machine that I can recommend without reservation.

> 3 dayThere is nothing remarkable about this item. It’s just an overpriced fan. I really thought this might resolve the issue in my room, but at least it’s a silent fan

> 3 dayPowerful! I have 3 other models. Great for cooling an entire room. Turn on switch in a strange place, but doesn’t take away from the fans power.

Greater than one weekVornados sleek new 660 model is their smallest whole room unit Ive used. Its comparable to their Vornado 733 (which Ive used for years). Besides the smaller size and sleek design, it adds infinite angle adjustment, push-button power/speed settings, and a much shorter cord. Its slightly quieter. See my pics for a side-by-side comparison (the new 660 is the smaller unit with silver trim). This model (660), compared to the 733: * 4 speeds vs 3 speeds * Push-buttons (on the top of the back) instead of a dial (in the middle of the back) * Infinite adjustable (slides along a metal support bracket allowing pick-an-angle) * Slightly smaller across the head of the fan, and much less deep (the back of the stand is eliminated), so its much more compact. * Slightly quieter * Lower power consumption at low, similar at medium * Shinier * Power cord is 2-3 feet shorter. Negatives: * The power cord is too short for all the places Ive used Vornados before, I had to use a power strip as an extension cord. * There is an audible beep from each button press, I dont like devices that make noise for no reason. * Power-on goes to the highest fan setting (rather than last setting). Ideal would be if the speed buttons also acted as power-on buttons. * The lower settings dont move all that much air. Unfortunately Vornado, like other fan manufacturers, doesnt generally provide CFM (air flow) and dBa (noise) ratings on its fans, even though these are likely the two most important metrics to fan-buying consumers. I dont have a way to measure those, but I did compare power usage. Note this is versus a 733 that has been running non-stop for 4+ years (so its motor may be less efficient or dirtier than ideal): 660 (1) vs 733 at low: 30W vs 42W Setting 1 is notably quieter (and less air flow) than low on the Vornado 733. If you use this setting, and the fan runs non-stop all year, youd save 105kwh with the newer fan, about $11 at my average energy pricing (approx). But this setting moves too little air for my purposes. 660 (2) at med-low: 37W Setting 2 has some audible noise and moderate airflow. If you used this setting instead of medium on the Vornado 733, and the fan runs non-stop all year, youd save 70kwh with the newer fan, about $7 at my average energy pricing. This setting moves enough air to be useful (but not enough to circulate my open foyer/staircase). 660 (3) vs 733 at medium: 46W vs 45W Setting 3 has noteworthy audible noise and moderate-high airflow, very similar to the medium on the older fan. At this setting they essentially have the same power draw. I didnt test high since its too loud for me to ever use. Neither fan showed any vampire draw: the power meter indicated 0 meaning less than 1W of draw while powered off. If you need substantial air flow (as in between two rooms or in an open foyer, at medium) and are not space constrained, the

> 3 dayI have a 300sqft studio and it gets stagnant. So I needed room circulation for general, coolness at night, and appropriate noise levels for both. Levels 1&2 are good for air circulation with VERY low noise level so I can keep it going and not have to yell to talk to someone. At 3 it does kinda start making sound but still pretty good. 4 or high blows well and produces enough background noise to drown out a lot most sounds at night as I sleep. Very happy with this purchase!
