Vornado 460 Small Whole Room Air Circulator Fan with 3 Speeds, 460-Small, Black

This fan is amazing. We have one long hallways that spans the distance from one end of the house to the other and this fam actually is so effective that it can blow air and circulate it that entire distance. Yes its actually intended as a single (large) room circulator and it does a fantastic job at that, we can set it on low and it moves the air very nicely and you dont hear anything. Its awesome.

After just a month of light use, the fan already clicks and rattles.

One is whisper quiet. The other makes a clicking sound as if something is loose. Nothing is loose. If you remember the days when kids took a playing card and put it on the frame of their bike; and as they rode it, the card made a noise constantly because it was always being hit by the spokes of the bicycle wheel. Thats the sound one Vornado 660 makes, whereas the other Vornado 660 is whisper quiet. Quality control is inconsistent unless the Vornado makers are targeting people that want sound and people that want no sound. I prefer no sound. The other fan is in use in the room with One who is not as bothered about the noise, as I am. If the other fan had been rejected by the One using it, I would have sent it back and not purchased a replacement. The Vornado 660 makers were able to sell two version of one fan model using different manufacturing quality. We have two versions of quality in our two fans. Would I buy another Vornado 660? No, I have two. I kept two. Would I buy another Vornado of any model? Probably, as my current odds are there is 50/50 chance Ill get a good one with good quality control behind it Am I glad I bought these two? Yes, I am, and only because the noise making one is accepted by someone else in the household. The Vornado 660 has four speeds. For me and my use, of the model 660 this summer; the Vornado has one, because I would not use the lower speeds this summer. In the winter, I may find a use for moving air at lower speeds, but for the reason and season someone like me purchases a Vornado 660 Whole Room Air Circulator for, only the highest speed is useful for me. If you turn the model 660 toward the middle of a room on a hot day and expect it to cool it down, it wont happen. The fan is designed to bounce the wind off a solid surface and circulate the air. A box fan will be set to blow air across a room. The Vornado 660 should be set to bounce the air off a wall, corner, or circulate diagonally along the ceiling. Heated air rises, and if not circulated or dispersed properly, the heated air will get stagnant and compact itself in the upper surface area of heated area, and the Vornado 660 would not be as effective blowing air across an open area room if the heated air is concentrated at the top of that room There are fans made specifically for pusing air across open air space. Our household has found using the Vornado 660 as it is designed and intended to function works better than using it against its design and function. I do not believe nor think I wasted my money because I am using using both Vornado 660 Whole Room Air Circulators. I am aware that there were prior comments of noise, and those comments are just as accurate as the comments of quiet operation. I have learned over time, that if someone experiences something, its not for me to decide what they have experienced, I was not there when they experienced it, so I rely on what they tell me was their experience before I make a decision to potentially experience the same thing or chance on experiencing something different; and I know what I have experienced owning these two Vornado model 660s. Two Vornado 660s, looking identical, from the same manufacturer, ordered and shipped from the same business, shipped at the same time, no damage to the external boxes, still in manufacturer packaging, plugged into the same and similar outlets, and one Vornado 660 sounds like there is a loose object in it as long as it is operating and in use. It is operating 24/7, and is only quiet when it is turned off. One Vornado 660 is so quiet you can easily forget its in the room and it is also operating 24/7.

This fan is absolutely very good. I use it on low and get a comfortable cool breeze.

If you are looking for a fan that moves a lot of air & provides consistent white noise, youve found it. There is NO rattling. I tried a different Vornado fan that fit my decor but it rattled. They sent me a new one. It rattled. I gave up & purchased this less expensive model that doesnt fit my decor & I am very happy with it. I would recommend this fan to anyone...

I have been converted to a Vornado fan for life because of this product. I couldnt quite grasp how a seemingly simple fan could demand such a price point, but it soon proved its value when we received it. First thing after taking it out of the box I set it on the ground, plugged it in and promptly pointed it at my wife across the room and turned it on. Without fail she said she could clearly feel the breeze from the fan from quite a ways away, and also remarked on how quiet it was. My childish testing of the fan wouldnt be complete without finding out of my cat also could feel the breeze, so I pointed the fan up to the bed where my cat was sitting and watching me. She began to squint her eyes a bit from the fan soon after pointing it her way, giving me the answer I needed that yes kitty did indeed feel the breeze. But this is where the Vornado went above and beyond being just a fan, the air stream coming off of it managed to work its way under the throw blanket on the bed and began to inflate it like a parachute. Kitty was nothing less than terrified that the blanket was now inflating towards her suddenly so she promptly jumped up into the air away from the edge of the bed. But this simple move was no match for the power of the Vornado as it continued to fill up the blanket towards her as she landed. Her last and final effort was a quick and blind jump off the side of the bed and sprinting out of the room. This whole series of events within the first minutes of owning it made me a believer in the product. On a more serious note the Vornado has drastically helped my wife and I for keeping the bedroom cooler. The house doesnt have the best circulation and I have on several occasions seen a 5 degree difference between ceiling and floor temperatures. In order to try and keep the bedroom cool enough that we can sleep under the same blanket, wed have to take the house down to 69 degrees at night, where we normally run 72 the rest of the day. Since owning this fan we have never had to lower the temperature in the house, and this is with it only on the second lowest setting! We can feel a huge different in the comfort of the room temperature wise, and when I use my infrared thermometer to check the temps of ceiling and floor now that we have the Vornado, theyre always the same temperature now. I can point it at a completely different part of the room and still feel the flow of air it creates on the other side. If I ever need another fan without question it WILL be a Vornado.

I have purchased 4 of these. The are far reaching and blow really strong. I little pricey so I dont appreciate paying over $100 with tax for each of them, but they work well and I have purchased others that are much less expensive but dont pack the same punch, so I keep buying these for myself and my kids and the spare room

I love this fan! Its perfect for my need which is in a smallish condo bathroom with no window. I take a lot of long bubble baths and need air circulation - and with hot showers too obviously . A hot bath is wonderful but without airflow, it gets too hot and suffocating! I could drag my big Lasko cyclone or wind machine floor fan to the bathroom door but thatd be a pain everytime. It is the perfect size too. I had one of those (worthless) tower fans that even on high is not much better than this fan on low or low-medium. For a long bath, Ive found the 3rd highest setting is perfect pointed at me about 7-8 feet away and then after, I point it more upwards and crank it to the next level which is the highest I think - just to get everything in the bathroom good and dry (mirror, towels, whatever). It takes up the same diameter floor space as the tower fan I had but really works MUCH better. The noise on the first or second setting is barely audible but the 3rd and 4th settings are definitely louder but not so loud that I cant hear my music or anything. I know this is a long review for a fan, and quite pricey but if it works to keep me cool during baths and keeps the room from turning into a swampy rainforest after that or showers - its worth it. Trust me, Ive tried many fans (including other small floor fans) for this particular need and finally found it :) In this case, I feel its money well spent. Also small and light enough to easily take to a friend or family members home if need be. My only minimal complaint is that the chrome handle on the back is quite difficult to move the fan position up and down. Also, I wish it oscillated from side to side but considering for the size its the strongest breeze fan in such a small size - and for my needs - Im keeping it!

I love the size and look, it looks great in the house. The white color gives it a classic look. Excellent for large space and medium size space.blows cool air.
