> 3 dayDefinitely cools a room down. My fiance had doubts because we already have so many fans, but you absolutely feel the difference even on low

> 3 dayThis is a fantastic fan and I recommend this purchase. I live in a hot and humid climate with exceptionally expensive electric rates, so I tend to rely on fans more than air conditioning. I have gone through seven fans in the past two years, all name brand. I purchased two off-brand metal bladed fans a year ago and those are great except they are very loud and are dangerous with small curious children in the house. This led me to Vornado. Here are my points to consider: Pros: Reasonably quiet, even at the highest setting. REALLY moves air. My living room is 22 across and it has no trouble directing air that far. Size--this is a very small fan in comparison to the other fans Ive owned (box, pedestal, floor, table), yet it does a better job. Appearance--looks pretty, and isnt an eyesore like other fans Safety--my 1.5-year old has failed in her attempts to shove her fingers through the grill. Im sure she could if she tried harder, but it wouldnt be easy. Efficiency--Ive been without power for two months now (thanks, typhoon) and rely on a power inverter. With this plugged in, it uses 50w at the highest setting. Thats compared to my pedestal fan that uses 75w at the lowest setting. Cons: Price--this is not cheap! I purchased this repackaged from Amazon and it saved me $15 from anywhere else I could find online. Buttons--I think the shiny buttons are meant to attract small children, and it does that very well. Though, I dont know where else the buttons could be and still be convenient for adults to adjust. Unless it was a classic dial adjustment. Speed settings--level 3 and 4 are really the only speeds Ive used and I cant imagine using anything less...the lower two levels just seem a little useless. But maybe if I didnt live in the tropics, the lower settings might be useful for a whisper of air movement here or there. Lastly, I wanted to address a couple of things I read in reviews. First, this fan CAN be used to direct air at you, as you would a normal fan. It does a very good job at that, in fact. Its just not maximizing the fans potential as a whole room air circulator if you choose to aim it at yourself for cooling. Secondly, this fan is not hard at all to adjust. Im not sure what people are attempting to do in terms of angle adjustment, but you simply slide it and its done. And no--it does not slide out of position on its own. Im not kidding, its very simple and effective. I chose the 660 versus other models based on reviews citing efficiency, and also because it looks nicer than similar models. I am happy with this purchase, its better than I expected it to be, and Ill be buying two more for the rest of my house...as my budget allows.

Greater than one weekIve gone through a lot of oscillating fans. The problem is that the oscillation mechanism invariably wears down, and it starts making clicking noises. Some people might not mind this - it puts me in a homicidal rage. The Vornado 660 does not oscillate. I was skeptical of this when I bought it, but took a chance, and Im glad I did. The product does exactly what it says in the advertisements. It blows a powerful narrow stream of air, which you direct upwards in the direction of the opposite wall. The stream spreads out, and circulates throughout the room, cooling it within a minute - and you never have it blowing in your face (if you point it properly). I typically operate it in low and medium speeds. Low is almost silent. Medium is audible - but only if the room is otherwise silent. Theres also high and turbo, which Ive only toyed with. Very effective, but a bit much. But this is without a doubt the best fan Ive ever purchased.

> 3 dayThis fan is quiet and actually pushed air. I’ve had so many junk fans that make a lot of noise and don’t push air. I’m sticking with this company going forward. Awesome fan

> 3 dayI bought this Vornado to replace a very old Vornado of the same size when it finally died. I am not even sure what model the old one was because it was so old that the nameplate with all the model information was worn off. I looked at other fan types and brands, but decided to go with another Vornado. Pros: - Stylish: I like the looks of it. The gloss black portion can get attract fingerprints and dust, but it sits under a desk most of the time - Capable of moving a lot of air: It gets noisy at the third and fourth settings, but if you need it to push a lot of air it will - Relatively quiet at 2nd setting while still moving enough air: I mostly run it at the second setting where it is a good balance of air moved at a low noise level. It has a relatively pleasant white noise hum at this setting similar to my older Vornado. Cons: - Harder to move around and tilt than previous Vornados: This one may look more stylish than older models, but is a little more difficult to adjust the tilt. There is also no good place on top or back to hold it while you pick it up other than the sliding arm. That means means when you do pick it up and then set it back down, you have to adjust the tilt again. - Touch buttons: The location of the on/off and speed settings on the top may be more convenient than than a knob on the bottom like my old Vornado, but it comes with drawbacks. When youre trying to move the unit or adjust the tilt, it is very easy to hit one of the touch buttons to change speeds or turn it on/off. Not a big deal, just annoying. - On/Off button - Related to the last con, when you turn the unit on it immediately goes to the highest fan setting which is very loud. It is a minor annoyance, but I dont know why they set it up that way instead of starting it off at a lower setting. - Made unpleasant noises out of the box: It eventually went away, but it made some unpleasant noises that sounded to me like it was out of balance or defective initially. It was most apparent at the lower fan settings, but I decided to give it some time to see if it would go away before going through the hassle of sending it back. After about 4 or 5 days it had smoothed out and began to sound like my old Vornado. I have had no issues with it since. The cons I listed knocked it from 5 to 4 stars, but I am still satisfied with this fan. You will be hard-pressed to find another fan this size that is capable of moving the amounts of air it can when needed. You will also find it difficult to find another fan this size that is capable of relatively quiet operation while moving decent amounts of air like this one does at the second fan setting.

> 3 dayI love this fan! Its perfect for my need which is in a smallish condo bathroom with no window. I take a lot of long bubble baths and need air circulation - and with hot showers too obviously . A hot bath is wonderful but without airflow, it gets too hot and suffocating! I could drag my big Lasko cyclone or wind machine floor fan to the bathroom door but thatd be a pain everytime. It is the perfect size too. I had one of those (worthless) tower fans that even on high is not much better than this fan on low or low-medium. For a long bath, Ive found the 3rd highest setting is perfect pointed at me about 7-8 feet away and then after, I point it more upwards and crank it to the next level which is the highest I think - just to get everything in the bathroom good and dry (mirror, towels, whatever). It takes up the same diameter floor space as the tower fan I had but really works MUCH better. The noise on the first or second setting is barely audible but the 3rd and 4th settings are definitely louder but not so loud that I cant hear my music or anything. I know this is a long review for a fan, and quite pricey but if it works to keep me cool during baths and keeps the room from turning into a swampy rainforest after that or showers - its worth it. Trust me, Ive tried many fans (including other small floor fans) for this particular need and finally found it :) In this case, I feel its money well spent. Also small and light enough to easily take to a friend or family members home if need be. My only minimal complaint is that the chrome handle on the back is quite difficult to move the fan position up and down. Also, I wish it oscillated from side to side but considering for the size its the strongest breeze fan in such a small size - and for my needs - Im keeping it!

> 3 dayOne is whisper quiet. The other makes a clicking sound as if something is loose. Nothing is loose. If you remember the days when kids took a playing card and put it on the frame of their bike; and as they rode it, the card made a noise constantly because it was always being hit by the spokes of the bicycle wheel. Thats the sound one Vornado 660 makes, whereas the other Vornado 660 is whisper quiet. Quality control is inconsistent unless the Vornado makers are targeting people that want sound and people that want no sound. I prefer no sound. The other fan is in use in the room with One who is not as bothered about the noise, as I am. If the other fan had been rejected by the One using it, I would have sent it back and not purchased a replacement. The Vornado 660 makers were able to sell two version of one fan model using different manufacturing quality. We have two versions of quality in our two fans. Would I buy another Vornado 660? No, I have two. I kept two. Would I buy another Vornado of any model? Probably, as my current odds are there is 50/50 chance Ill get a good one with good quality control behind it Am I glad I bought these two? Yes, I am, and only because the noise making one is accepted by someone else in the household. The Vornado 660 has four speeds. For me and my use, of the model 660 this summer; the Vornado has one, because I would not use the lower speeds this summer. In the winter, I may find a use for moving air at lower speeds, but for the reason and season someone like me purchases a Vornado 660 Whole Room Air Circulator for, only the highest speed is useful for me. If you turn the model 660 toward the middle of a room on a hot day and expect it to cool it down, it wont happen. The fan is designed to bounce the wind off a solid surface and circulate the air. A box fan will be set to blow air across a room. The Vornado 660 should be set to bounce the air off a wall, corner, or circulate diagonally along the ceiling. Heated air rises, and if not circulated or dispersed properly, the heated air will get stagnant and compact itself in the upper surface area of heated area, and the Vornado 660 would not be as effective blowing air across an open area room if the heated air is concentrated at the top of that room There are fans made specifically for pusing air across open air space. Our household has found using the Vornado 660 as it is designed and intended to function works better than using it against its design and function. I do not believe nor think I wasted my money because I am using using both Vornado 660 Whole Room Air Circulators. I am aware that there were prior comments of noise, and those comments are just as accurate as the comments of quiet operation. I have learned over time, that if someone experiences something, its not for me to decide what they have experienced, I was not there when they experienced it, so I rely on what they tell me was their experience before I make a decision to potentially experience the same thing or chance on experiencing something different; and I know what I have experienced owning these two Vornado model 660s. Two Vornado 660s, looking identical, from the same manufacturer, ordered and shipped from the same business, shipped at the same time, no damage to the external boxes, still in manufacturer packaging, plugged into the same and similar outlets, and one Vornado 660 sounds like there is a loose object in it as long as it is operating and in use. It is operating 24/7, and is only quiet when it is turned off. One Vornado 660 is so quiet you can easily forget its in the room and it is also operating 24/7.

> 3 dayI have purchased 4 of these. The are far reaching and blow really strong. I little pricey so I dont appreciate paying over $100 with tax for each of them, but they work well and I have purchased others that are much less expensive but dont pack the same punch, so I keep buying these for myself and my kids and the spare room

> 3 dayWe just spent almost $17,000 for a state of the art AC unit a couple weeks ago due to the phasing out of R22 / Freon and wanting to not continue punching holes in the Ozone later. As budding hippies we wanted to do the world a service but ended up super depressed when it was 115 degrees out and we discovered that the new units don’t really cool as well as the clunky old enviro-killers that were the R22s. Even with the thermostat at 72 degrees b our bedroom would hit 80 stuffy degrees due to ductwork and the fact that it is living on the roof where it is 165 degrees in the blistering Arizona sun. Anyway, you want to hear about the Vornado, not my rude awakening about modern AC units. So I was crazy excited about this purchase and was waiting at the door for it. I had watched some YouTube reviews and was sold even before the endings. Take my money NOW!!! Unboxing was standard. Very nicely packaged and a very solid fan. I adored how robust it feels and that it isn’t on a pedestal. Having 3 fans in the bedroom is not only a pain for us but confusing for our poor Roomba that is officially afraid of trying to map / chart our floor layout due to constantly moving pedestal fans. And cords everywhere. Just no. Anyway, we set up our little Vornado (the 660 is the model we went with) on the bedroom dresser and turned it on. Woah! It wasn’t fake force wind “WOAH!” but more like wind chill “woah.” We have a hot spot in the bedroom between the bed and window that gets really hot and stuffy. Our thermometer there reads 78-79 degrees. Well, I have taken all the pedestal fans out of the bedroom and have been running the Vornado for about 25 minutes and we are already reading 76 degrees and dropping. The ice cold air from our hallway is actually mixing in with the hot bedroom air and cooling effectively like the AC fan and ceiling fan is failing at. Mind you it is 107 outside and climbing. I can’t even describe my joy. We sat on the bed and it feels like cold air is going all around us. No weird hot spots or humidity. Just a really consistent “cold air is all around me” feeling and the absolute bliss that I don’t have to drop another 10k on ripping out all the ductwork. Guess who is buying another one of these for the guest suite? Yeah. This girl right here. 5 stars. I’m absolutely sold on this.
