Wii Play with Wii Remote

> 3 dayThis was a great bundle. It came with a wii controller, which was awesome. My four year old needed his own controller. The games are cool for him to get use to and learn how to use the controller. I bought this used for 10.00 dollars, which makes me like it even more. Thanks for the purchase!

> 3 dayIf youve played Wii Sports and are expecting Wii Play to be more of the same fun, think again. Wii Plays games are much less involved, and while there are 9 games overall, there arent any hidden games or fun features that made Wii Sports so enjoyable, just mindless medals you can collect as you pursue high scores (Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum). While Wii Sports was a game in which you could unlock features as you progressed, the only thing you unlock in Wii Play are the 9 games, and youre forced to do this unlocking process when you begin. Instead of being able to play all the games, you start with one, have to play it, then you can play the next one, until you end up in the ninth and final game. What is really annoying about this is that your score during the first run does not count toward the medals you get, so dont worry about doing well in any game until you have them all unlocked. Also, once you get a gold medal, you have to play again to even have a chance to get a platinum medal. Every time you get a medal your Wii gives you a hint about the game. However, if you get a Silver or Gold medal before you get a Bronze for example, then you lose out on a tip. Very poor design if you ask me. Of the nine games, I found Shooting Range, Charge!, Tanks!, Billiards, and Fishing rather fun, but Find Mii, Table Tennis, Pose Mii and Laser Hockey are not that great. Five decent side-games for $10 isnt too bad though. The Enjoyable 01. Billiards -- There is a bit of a learning curve here and its awkward because there doesnt seem to be any penalty for sinking the wrong balls, but with time youll love it. Just find some music to play because this game has a terrible soundtrack. 02. Tanks -- While Tanks! is by far the most complex game on the disc, it is also annoying to have to start from scratch all the time. Nice freeform play though and there is no time limit for single player mode. Pretty addictive. 03. Charge! -- While there is only one course, riding a weird looking cow is pretty cool. Unlike the other games, you decide where you are going the whole time, and the freeform design, despite the time limit, is a lot of fun. 04. Shooting Range -- This game will make you want a Wii Gun, lots of fun but limited playback. Just fun to shoot targets with Wiimote. 05. Fishing -- Very limited hungry hungry hippo like game, casting can be awkward due to the fish running out of room to swim, but an interesting game. The graphics are odd though. The Boring 06. Find Mii -- There are some interesting scenes, but very easy to get bored. Great for puzzle seekers and memory building though. For the odd Miis out, just look for something like Miis looking the wrong way at tennis. 07. Pose Mii -- Once again, great for the puzzle-loving crowd, but not my style of fun. 08. Table Tennis -- All you do is move the remote back and forth like pong, no swing, no skill involved except twitch gaming. Much better for the Wiimote actually than Laser Hockey since you move left and right rather than up and down the whole time, but still rather boring after awhile. I mean, if you have Wii Sports, Tennis is just so much better than Table Tennis. 09. Laser Hockey -- Worthless to play in single player, youll end up watching the CPU score goals for you because the puck ends up weirdly getting past the paddle too easy and it becomes impossible to save. Youll do the same back sometimes for the CPU. Better in multiplayer but the game dynamics just suck. Its hard to play a game with the Wiimote when you are controlling the left or right side of the screen and the game would have probably been more fun to use with traditional controller rather than a Wiimote.

> 3 dayThis is the 2nd Wii Play that Ive purchased, the first being for myself and the second for my parents. Overall this is a great value for the money considering you get both the remote and some additional games. I particularly love Charge! where you race cows for points. What a cute concept!

> 3 dayA nice set of arcade games, and I bought this to get a 2nd wii remote! There are a couple 2 player games. My 4yr old is able to play everything on here w/out a problem except billiards. He esp loves the cow racing game and fishing. My 10 yr old has no problem at all. Great for adults as well if you like the short arcade games. I think there are 9 of them. They all use the standard wii remote.

> 3 dayI bought this for my husband and he and my daughters play this all the time. The Wii is an incredible toy to begin with. But, the games that come with this remote are hilarious. They especially love the skeet shooting game (the end where the aliens show up and try to take the people away has us cracking up every time!). But, my favorite is watching them do the cow races. Too funny! If you have a Wii you NEED this extra remote and cool game disc.

> 3 dayWii Play itself is about on par with Wii Sports, but with a wider variety of gameplay. For $10 more than the Wiimote it comes with, its a great deal, and has some truely enjoyable games. At the same time, it is simple enough that everyone in a family would be able to play it. However, 3 of the games appeal almost exclusively to small children, and in my experience Laser Hockey was the only game I found extremely addicting.

> 3 dayI ordered this so I could have a 3rd remote for my family (me, wife and son) as we only had 2 Wii remotes. I thought it would be nice to get a game thrown in for some extra fun on top of the controller, even though I knew from the reviews to not expect much. I was a bit dissapointed as this game was obviously created to teach you how to use the Wii controller and show off some of its capabilities but not really have any lasting impact. They should have INCLUDED this game for free with Wii Sports when you bought the system new. Only 10 games on here and only few are worth playing over again. All the rest are junk/fillers. Also the controller did NOT WORK AT ALL. I tried it with alkaline batteries and with my Nyko rechargabele battery pack and it would NOT SYNC.I hit the reset button and got it to flash the lights but still wouldnt work/SYNC, so this is GOING BACK for replacement. Hope the next one works or else I will just order the normal controller without the game. Maybe these are OLD OLD controllers as this game is old from 2006/2007. I had to play it with my other controller. Best Game - by far Pool/Billiards is the best and the one I play every day. The physics on it are true to life. You hit it harder or softer and it does it. You hit the ball below centerline or above and it puts the correct forward or backspin on the ball. Ive played pool over 25 years and I got pretty good at this game in a short amt of time since I know the angles needed to sink the ball and make good cut shots on the table and had the feel for how hard to hit it. Still trying to beat my high score of 42 points (only took 12 shots to sink all 9 balls). The only thing I dont like about pool is you cant read the ball numbers easily and on the view from above the table, it doesnt let you hover over each ball or zoom to see which # it is so it makes it harder to plan your shot. If they fixed that flaw it would be perfect for the price. You have to sink them in NUMERICAL order 1 thru 9, so if you get a bad line of sight or get behind another ball and you dont hit the object ball first, you foul and lose 3 points. If you scratch the cue ball, same thing you lose points off your total score. Pretty challenging..and fun. For 2 player you trade shots if you miss. You gets points equal to the number shown on the ball, so if you sink ball 1 thru 3 thats only 6 points (1+2+3 so your opponent could win just by sinking the higher # balls even though they missed more shots than you earlier on, so dont MISS and turn over the cue ball if playing 2 player, just like in real pool. I mainly played single player The only other semi-games are: Duck Hunt, Tank Game, and Fishing. I wont go into details on these but they are OK games. Shoot the ducks and clay pigeons; Shoot the tanks and reel in the big fish. Pretty self explanatory. Tank shooting is pretty hard and you have to use some strategy until you get to a higher level then just shoot uzi style to hit something so you dont get killed by your enemies. The other ones Id say, play them once to try them and then say bye bye: Find Mii - pretty hard to find the matches or differnt Miis (like Wheres Waldo for Wii) Table Tennis - not like real table tennis so dont get excited. You can only move left and right and forward and backwards and cant spin or angle that easily. Wii Sports Resort table tennis will be amazing Im sure and put this to shame. Pose Mii - forget this one, It gave me carpel tunnel syndrome in a short time. You have to twist your wrist too match the pose of your Mii and also gave mea headache as its a bit frustrating Charge - Like Mario Kart combined with Barn Yard theme. Cute but not so great. You really have to go go go and not slow down or you will never make it in time to finish. You ride on a cow and run over scarecrows and jump over hurdles and try to finish before time expires. I didnt like the fact that you had to play each one in THEIR chosen order, You cant select any of the games you want until you play it one time. Annoying. They want you to learn the controller at their pace thinking you arent smart enough :) After you post a score in each game then you can earn gold/silver/bronze medals in each when you earn a high score. Beat your highest score and earn a gold medal. This is the incentive to have you keep coming back to beat your high scores I guess. Id say buy the controller by itself if thats all you need (like me) and maybe save a few dollars unless you really want a semi-decent pool game, because thats all it will be good for me. My son might play a few games and like them more. haha it is after all HIS Wii :) (40 year old dad writing this review) Rent it first to try it out if you really want the games.

> 3 dayThe best part of this game is the free remote. If you are planning on buying another remote, go ahead and buy this game for the extra $10. However, dont buy it just for the games. The graphics are poor and the games arent that challenging. The best part of the game is that you can keep stats with your competitors as you play (wins/losses).

> 3 dayI bought this game because it came with the Wii remote (licensed by Nintendo) and the price was right. The games on this disc are fun but they got old quick. They are, however, good for practice using the Wii remote and hand eye coordination if you arent very experienced with the Wii! Great deal!
