This thing is a little tough to setup but works fine once you get it connected. I had to factory reset it a few times and plug it in right next to the router to get it to connect. The application could be better but once you get used to it, it works Once you get through the setup it does everything well. I can turn it off and on quickly from the app or set a schedule pretty easily from my smart phone. Ive had it out in the snow and below zero temperatures so I can attest to how weather proof it is.

Pro: Very easy to set up using the app I downloaded to my phone. Connected to my WiFi without the need for a hub - as advertised. Can control my outdoor lights using the app remotely and via schedule. Con: Does not seem to integrate with Smartthings. App indicates it will work with Alexa, but, like most integration with Alexa, I have not figured out how to do this. Not saying it cant be done, but it is not simple. Alexa denies any knowledge of this device even when threatened.

Great purchase. For the price of not much more than a typical outdoor-rated timer, I was able to get this WiOn. Ive been using it extensively for the past month to control my outdoor Christmas lights. It took less than 10 minutes to figure it out and get everything working with my lights on a timer. Remote access through the app is super simple and works with no discernible lag via Wi-Fi or cellular connection (I am running the Android version of the app). The only negative is that I dont think this can be controlled by other popular app-based controllers (WeMo, etc.), but I could be wrong. Also, I have not yet tried using this with my Amazon Echo devices to test Alexa support, but I know that it is supported.

I ordered two of these units in 2018 (currently 2019) to control outdoor Christmas lights. They work great - easy set up, app is easy to navigate -though make sure you give them 1 word names - and very easy integration into Amazon Alexa. I set up a routine in Alexa to turn them off and on at given times, and grouped them under Outside Christmas Lights so that I can also voice command them. Then I put them in storage for a year, pulled them out this Christmas and they still work great. Ended up buying two more.

This would have been a 5 star review, except for one major issue: software. I have 4 of these outlets and they have worked dependably and consistently for several years. However, the WiOn app hasn’t been updated in quite some time, and it no longer works with my iPhone running iOS16. So… I’m unable to set up and program the outlets anymore, rendering them useless. I’ve contacted customer service three times (both email and voicemail; couldn’t talk with an human) and have received no response. I can’t recommend this item until the software issue is resolved. UPDATE: WiOn has updated their software to work with the new iOS update. All is fine, and I reiterate the complement I made: it works reliably and consistently. Highly recommend WiOn outlets.

Fantastic device, quite easy to set up and it seems to be working reliably after 4 days in use. I am using it to remotely control a pond aerator that requires a very specific on/off schedule. An added benefit of using a WIFI-enabled device in the cloud is that I know the house power and my home wifi network are functioning generally, and also that the aerators circuit has not tripped the GFI. This unit can handle 15 amps and 1000 watts, well above the 1/3 hp 5-amp draw (650 watts) of my pond aerator motor. The WiOn app on my iPhone is easy to use and offers great programming flexibility as well as manual on/off override independent of the time settings.

Works very well. I have three of them. Has a timer function and an astronomical function, so for example you can have it turn ON at sunset and OFF at 11pm. I have one controlling a webcam that’s set up to turn on at sunrise and off at sunset. Another controls landscape lighting that goes on 30 minutes after sunset and off at 10:30pm. The third controls a heated doormat, which I set to come on at 11:59 am and off at noon — I actually only use this occasionally so I turn it on manually and the noon setting is just to turn it off automatically if I forget to turn it off manually. My only complaint is that the manual doesn’t tell you how to change to a new Wi-Fi signal, but if you scan reviews you can find how to do that.

UPDATE: After three months I am still very happy with the devices. Worked through and rain and shine. And most importantly, someone finally figured out how to make them work with Alexa: Make sure when you name them use only ONE WORD such as Garage. If you do, Alexa will discover them and they seamlessly integrated into the Alexa experience. Use a phrase such as Garage Door, no dice. Amazing that the manufacturer was totally useless in helping to figure this one out. Ordered two, and I like them a lot. I use them for timed on/off of holiday decorations. While the units themselves work great, I am not impressed with the companion iPhone app. Not only a UI designed by a moron but the Amazon Echo integration is not working at all. I looked online, and I am not alone with that issue.

Would have had five stars for doing what it is supposed to do, easy set up and easy app but I had to replace one because it got water in it. Outdoor rated outlets really shouldnt let water in. Keep it in a place where it will stay dry and it will be great.

After wiring and installing low voltage lights around our backyard pool and spa, I wanted an easy way to turn them off when using the spa to see the night sky better. The low voltage transformer for the yard lights is on a side of the house not easily accessed from the backyard. A Google search for outdoor WiFi switch brought up this WiOn product and the description sounded perfect for what I needed. When I received it and set it up, it was exactly what I needed. Product was easy to install with the matching app and easy to use. On those cool, cloudless evenings when a soak in the spa with stargazing is the perfect ending to our day, I can easily switch the yard lights off from the pool with my phone. If I didnt have a dedicated, switched outlet for my outdoor Christmas lights, the WiOn switch is a great solution to add to an outdoor outlet to turn lights on and off from the comfort of your living room.
