> 3 dayThis was easy to setup and install. I installed two different ones and they both are working, grouped together and controlled by Alexa. The only issue I had was I tried to put a 3 way splitter on one of the plugs (as I have 3 extension cables running Christmas Lights). It would only allow for 2 of them to work with the splitter. However, if I plugged in an extension cord and then put the splitter at the end of the cord, it worked like a champ. Hopefully its not pushing the limits on what it can handle. As mentioned, the setup was easy. Just use the online setup within the application to help you setup Alexa as theres no Alexa instructions in the printed instructions that came with it. The app was a little quirky when you have multiple outlets, However, the price of the outdoor outlets were well worth it. And now that Alexa controls it, dont really need the app for much anyway.

> 3 dayThe instructions leave a bit to the imagination, but after I figured out how to initially connect this thing to my router its been working flawlessly since. I use the Android app and have no issues. There is about a 10-30 second delay on turning the outlets on/off manually, but I can deal with that easily. Its in a very wet environment and exposed to all the elements so its holding up as advertised. Dont expect it to manage each of the two outlets independently. Both outlets turn on/off together. I would definitely buy another unit. Just be patient with the setup. Its probably not faulty - it just has faulty instructions.

Greater than one weekFor a few years, I had 5 of these controlling my outdoor landscaping lights. I liked that they didnt require a hub, didnt require communication over the Internet with a server somewhere, and was completely self-contained on my home network. I finally abandoned these in favor of a hub-based system (like SmartThings and Wink) because they are just way too unreliable and have very few programming options. The app that controls these is atrocious and looks like it was designed by someone with no app design experience. Although it can do things like turn on the lights at sunset and turn them off at sunrise, theres no way to do something like turn off the lights 4 hours after sunset unless you program it manually. That may have changed in the few months since I got rid of them. It should be something easy to implement if someone was actually working to improve the app. These have to be in range of a really good wifi signal, otherwise they are impossible to program and control manually. One nice thing is that it will remember the programming, even if not connected to wifi. There were lots of times where the app said the switches couldnt be reached by wifi, but they still turned on and off at the right times. When that happened, the only way to reset the wifi connection was to physically go to the switch and reset it, which was a huge pain. I was constantly having to mess around with the app and the switches to get them to work. Since switching over to a server-based hub system with a better app interface, Ive not had to touch or reprogram my landscape lights once.

> 3 dayEdit 2: It seems Southwire / Woods has merely rebranded the ECO Plugs RC-028W. I was able to install the ECO Plugs app from the Google Play store and successfully connect a factory-restored WiOn outlet to my router with it. It took me a few factory resets and forgetting the ECO-serial network on my phone and reconnecting, but the connection eventually succeeded. Although the Woods WiOn app is abandonware, the ECO Plugs app is a passable substitute updated for compatibility with Android 9. Connecting with the ECO Plugs app is quirky, though. A successful connection to the router does not deactivate the plugs temporary wifi access point. --- Edit 1: Beware! The Woods WiOn Android app doesnt fully work on the latest version of Android. It doesnt appear that Woods / Southwire has updated their app in a year and a half. Unless you have access to a device with an older version of Android, you may not be able to get this outlet to connect to your router. The out-of-box router connection dialog simply will not appear as it should when a new outlet is detected, regardless of clearing your phones cache and app data or resetting your outlet back to factory defaults. Maybe the ECO Plugs app would be a suitable workaround? Maybe, but I havent tried it to see. I ended up digging an ancient Android 4.4.2 device out of a drawer to perform the connection to my wireless network. Also, the WiOn products domain seems now to be controlled by a cybersquatter. There is no longer a website available for you to find support or documentation for this outlet. The outlet and its app are abandonware. I emailed Southwire a request for assistance, then followed up with my Android 4.4.2 workaround. If they respond with anything worthwhile, Ill update this review. So far my emails have gone ignored. --- Original review: Rugged, stable network connectivity from the opposite corner of the house and through walls, and Alexa integration is flawless. The WiOn app features above-average flexibility, offering automation with many triggers: time of day, countdown, astronomic, and random vacation timers. It does not offer Google or IFTTT integration, though. Bear in mind that Internet of Things devices such as this are heavily dependent on a reliable router. If youve got a garbage router, dont bother with this or any other IoT / smart home devices until youve upgraded. The Internet of Things tends to expose latent instability in mediocre routers. If youre not running Tomato, DD-WRT, Google Wifi, Ubiquiti, or better, dont blame inexplicable disconnections on your outlets. With OEM router firmware, more often than not, bugs are par for the course.

> 3 dayWe bought to use with the app and turn on roof heaters when we are away. It’s funky the way it connects to the Wi-Fi compared to other plugs and frequently goes offline when other Wi-Fi devices are still on and fine. Just not very seamless.

> 3 dayThis device works great but the app could use a couple of improvements: 1) Please add an auto-off timer feature: Id really like to be able to set a custom max run time so any time I turn the outlet on, it will automatically shut off again after, say 2 hours, or maybe 3. I hate waking up in the morning to realize I left it on all night. 2) Change the color scheme! I dont think I suffer from any form of colorblindness however I have a really tough time differentiating between the gray off and green on colors. The green is so pale. Add it bit more contrast and pop to the palette please! Other than these tweaks, I think its a great product.

> 3 dayThis was easy to set up and is easy to use. The only problem that I have is that it is not accessible from outside of your home wifi network. I use this on my covered back porch to turn my string lights on and off instead of having to unplug them each time. I am looking into buying another one for my front porch. EDIT: 2 years later and I am still using this. I have it set to turn on some porch lights on my front porch every day at 6pm and turn off at 11 every night. This has been used daily for 2 years and works perfectly.

> 3 dayBelow is my original review - mainly due to non-responsive customer service. I finally did get an email response and a phone number (and name) to call. I spent about 15 minutes on the phone with the contact person. He walked through several possible causes and solutions. And although we couldnt pin it down to any one of them directly, the past two days the App has been flawless, with both timers (two locations/two different servers) show up immediately every time I open the App. I have changed my rating to a 5 star - the product is fantastic (the timers always worked flawlessly), and now I can control both locations from anywhere, any time I log in. For anyone looking to use one of these timers to control a 1/2 horsepower/15 amp pump - this works like a charm. Im ordering more of these, plus the wall switches. Great products. Original review below. I give the product itself a 5-star for working as stated in the advertisement. I give 3 stars based on the following: I bought two of these. One is used in a primary home, the second in a vacation home. Both were set up and the timers operate as scheduled. And both are linked to wifi and the cloud. However, when I open the App, the outlet in my primary home shows up each and every time. But the one in my secondary home only shows up periodically. If I shut down the App, then restart - eventually both timers show up, but it may take 15 or 20 restarts to get both on the screen. If I turn off the wifi and rely totally on my 3g/4g/lte the secondary home never shows up, and the primary home will only turn on/off with the APP on occasions. Most times I get an error message .....wifi is not stable. Well, of course not, its turned off. And, I give zero stars for their customer support. Even though there is a fantastic compose and send a message icon, right on the Wion APP, the company has not responded to my message - not even a well check this out and get back with you.

Greater than one weekFantastic device, quite easy to set up and it seems to be working reliably after 4 days in use. I am using it to remotely control a pond aerator that requires a very specific on/off schedule. An added benefit of using a WIFI-enabled device in the cloud is that I know the house power and my home wifi network are functioning generally, and also that the aerators circuit has not tripped the GFI. This unit can handle 15 amps and 1000 watts, well above the 1/3 hp 5-amp draw (650 watts) of my pond aerator motor. The WiOn app on my iPhone is easy to use and offers great programming flexibility as well as manual on/off override independent of the time settings.

> 3 dayBought this to operate a fountain in the backyard. The outlet it is plugged into is not particularly close to my inside wifi router, yet it receives the signal just fine. The app to operate this device works well, even if the UI is a bit eccentric. But all in all, I am very pleased.
