> 3 dayIn short, I am very happy with this purchase and would buy it again. The reason I took off 1 star is that although the outlet works just fine and is reasonably priced, the whole idea of a smart outlet is to be able to be controlled via an app. Since most people will buy this first, then download or even look at the app after receiving it, I thought this might be helpful for people to be aware of the one shortcoming I found. My use case was very simple, though probably fairly common for most people looking for an outdoor smart outlet, controlling Xmas lights. I simply wanted them to go on at sunset, and go off at a predetermined time, like 1am. At least with the Android version of the app for this, it isnt possible. You can do on at sunset, off at sunrise (which seems excessive to have Xmas lights on at 4 am), or you can turn on at a certain time and off at a certain time, but cannot combine the 2. Other than that small issue, everything works fine. It pairs fairly easily, and works like it is supposed to.

04-06-2025I bought two of these to use for Christmas lights and both work perfectly. The 2nd one was a little bit harder to set up until I unplugged my 1st one, then it set up instantly just like my first one did. I use the timer for the entire week and that has worked flawlessly and reliably. Im very happy with these and would recommend them for sure.

> 3 dayThis is the second Wion outdoor plug I purchased. Over 1 year ago the first one installed with out a hitch and works great. The timer function (dusk to dawn with 20 minute offsets) is easy to set up. The distance it receives the wifi signal is impressive - it is mounted on my dock and easily picks up the WIFI signal from the house more than 100 feet away. The second one was a nightmare to set up. First I had the problem with naming the plug with a name longer the 5 characters. Thanks to all the Amazon reviews I figured that out. Next I used different amazon account for each plug because I forgot which account I used on the first plug 1 year ago. Even with that mistake, the WION app found both plugs but Alexa could only find one plug. The fix was easy, put both plugs on the same amazon account in the WION app. Next I disabled the WION skill in the Alexa App, then I re-enabled the skill and signed on to the Amazon account. Then Alexa was able to find both plugs. I normally would not give 5 stars to something with such limited customer support - but these are well engineered and easy to set up if you dont use a name longer than 5 characters and make the mistake of using two different amazon accounts. I have smart home devices from Leviton, iHome, Insignia(Best Buy), Amazon brand, Ecobee, and others. I think these plugs are some of the best designed, best operating and easy to install. Its too bad the traps in setup are only documented in Amazon reviews ...

> 3 dayI installed 2 of them yesterday to control my mechanical weed control system on my beach. They work great so far. I would have given a 5 star rating but the iPhone app is not very easy to use. It does every thing but for a simple app - it is very difficult to figure out how to do simple things like rename the device. The feature is there but the visual queues are not very obvious/standard.

> 3 dayWorking well. I’m getting ready to order my third. WiFi range is good. One is in a crawlspace under the house. Even next to a steel beam, it’s connecting to WiFi well. Instructions on setting up and controlling second unit could be better. I found help on an online video. To adjust second or additional units, you have to shift the devices icon to the leftmost position on your display. Once you know to do that, it’s simple to set up. I have it set up on a non-broadcast WiFi network. That can be tricky with some devices, but not this one.

> 3 dayThis review is for the Wi-FI version of the outlet, NOT the standard remote control (non-Wi-Fi) version. An outstanding product. Unboxed, plugged in, connected to wi-fi, and was using the app on my phone in about ten minutes. Pros: * Easy to connect to wi-fi * Has a variety of settings that are easily accessed through the app on my iPhone: Programmable Timer, Countdown Timer, Astronomic Timer, Vacation Random, and Security Random. The Programmable Timer (a multi-day timer) is easy to set and adjust. * You can give a custom name to the device(s) that you are controlling. I called mine icicle lights. * Has two outlets. Its worth noting that the two outlets can not be controlled independently. Whatever settings you use for one outlet have to be used for the second outlet. * Has a simple on/off switch on the app so I can easily override the programmed settings. * A good value for the cost. Cons: * Havent found any so far. Setup: * MY WiOn 50049 Outdoor Wi-Fi Outlet (2 outlets), is connected to an Airport Extreme router. The WiOn app is installed on my iPhone 6s. Works very nicely. Used to connect my icicle lights to my wi-fi network. No more having to go up and down the stairs to turn them on and off or fiddling with a clunky digital timer or reprogramming the timer when the power goes out. One thing to note: When the app searches for the router, it can take a few minutes for it to find it, depending on the speed of your mobile device.

Greater than one weekI first purchased one of these nifty little devices to control a table fountain located on my patio table and to my surprise it worked great! So I ordered two more, one for another fountain in my backyard, and one for the mister pump for the patio misters. All three work flawless. The app doesnt always recognize all three timers right away while your device is using mobile data, closing and reopening the app solves this problem. When at home and this happens switch your device to wifi if its not already and all three will appear instantly. Overall for the price the technology and convience these devices provide, the little app problem is minor and is easily overlooked in my opinion. Great job Woods products for another innovative worth while line of devices! I have ordered the indoor power strip to monitor power consumption of my entertainment center. I will write an updated review when I receive this product and give it some time to prove itself.

> 3 dayI bought these to use with our Christmas lights. They are very easy to set up and even easier to control. The options are endless as far as programming it to turn on with a timer or controlling it with your device. Ive been using it for about 10 days now and love them. Weve even connected it to Alexa. My kids love to turn the tree and outside lights on and off through Alexa. The cost is so worth me not heading out at 11:30pm every night in the freezing cold to unplug lights. One thing I did learn through looking at reviews and FAQ is that in order to connect to Alexa you need to name the device with one word.

Greater than one weekThis was easy to set up and is easy to use. The only problem that I have is that it is not accessible from outside of your home wifi network. I use this on my covered back porch to turn my string lights on and off instead of having to unplug them each time. I am looking into buying another one for my front porch. EDIT: 2 years later and I am still using this. I have it set to turn on some porch lights on my front porch every day at 6pm and turn off at 11 every night. This has been used daily for 2 years and works perfectly.

> 3 dayEasy to program and it works well. I have two of them in my two houses, each run on different wi-fi/internet, I can control both from my Samsung Android very well. I like the Timer that I can add any day/time for start and end. Do not have by dates though, but I do not need programming by date either. If you have your network name hidden, then you need to type in the network name (and the pwd) on the WiOn apps so that it can find your network. Thats is the only difficulty I ran across.
