> 3 dayBeing an engineer, I was disappointed that I could not get the device set up and resorted to calling customer support. The first person could not get it to work, so they connected me to someone else. I could not get it to connect to the device. The bottom line was that the customer support person says that it just does not work with some smart phones, and that I should try another one to get it set up. Trouble is I live alone. I will have to see if I can get another person to my house with a smart phone so I can connect the WION device to my router. These are the steps I took: 1. Plugged in the WION device. Blue light blinking. 2. Connected my Android cell phone to the WION WiFi signal. I have a Samsung Galaxy S4. 3. Started the WION app. It had a popup that said Looking for Router.... That is all it would do. Customer support said to click on the Plus sign to manually add it, but when I did that it would just beep at me with no other action. 4. This is a pain in the you know where!

> 3 daySome of these reviews are really bad. I guess its the same with most everything - people throw away instructions then cant figure out how to reconfigure. Dudes have all the time in the world to get on here and leave a bad review but not enough time to google how to fix their issue or search for instructions. Well Im here to buy a third one! These work great. I use the ECO Plugs smartphone app and Alexa. -BroSun

> 3 dayWorks very well. I have three of them. Has a timer function and an astronomical function, so for example you can have it turn ON at sunset and OFF at 11pm. I have one controlling a webcam that’s set up to turn on at sunrise and off at sunset. Another controls landscape lighting that goes on 30 minutes after sunset and off at 10:30pm. The third controls a heated doormat, which I set to come on at 11:59 am and off at noon — I actually only use this occasionally so I turn it on manually and the noon setting is just to turn it off automatically if I forget to turn it off manually. My only complaint is that the manual doesn’t tell you how to change to a new Wi-Fi signal, but if you scan reviews you can find how to do that.

> 3 dayThis was the third WiOn 50049 Outdoor Wi-Fi Wireless Plug-In Switch that Ive purchased which brought me to writing this review. The device is very easy to setup and the instructions are very simple and straight forward to follow. I originally purchased two (2) last year to help manage the Halloween lighting and decorations in my yard, as I got tired of having to deal with other timers that kept going bad or were difficult to adjust. I purchased a third (3) one this year for our Christmas yard decorations and it was a piece of cake to add to the existing smart phone app. I love the smart phone application access to adjust times to turn lights on or off, or even turn them on manually while Im away from home, to give the appearance that someones home. The item is very sturdy and well-made. I highly recommend this item, especially for the price-point.

> 3 dayThese work great; have purchased 3 of them, the first one about 2 years ago, and its still going strong. To be fair, though, I do live in Southern California, so the unit hasnt lived through much rain and moisture, but has stood up well to extreme heat. I have one unit set up with weekend sunrise/sunset timers for our patio string lights; I used another with time on/time off settings for our holiday lights. Gifted the third unit to our neighbors who, every night and morning, were pushing and pulling their holiday lights cord into and out of an outlet; just couldnt bear to see them do it anymore. Only negative is the apps interface, which could use some serious updating and streamlining; its straight outta 2010. However, with the various timer options, its pretty much set-it-and-forget-it, so the app shouldnt be needed after the initial set up. And initial set-up itself was fairly painless; just followed the simple instructions.

> 3 dayI ordered two of these units in 2018 (currently 2019) to control outdoor Christmas lights. They work great - easy set up, app is easy to navigate -though make sure you give them 1 word names - and very easy integration into Amazon Alexa. I set up a routine in Alexa to turn them off and on at given times, and grouped them under Outside Christmas Lights so that I can also voice command them. Then I put them in storage for a year, pulled them out this Christmas and they still work great. Ended up buying two more.

> 3 dayI purchased three of these as single devices since they were out of the bundle pack and received them yesterday. They were easy to connect to Alexa and have a pretty good wifi range. I am using them for Christmas lights and it makes it very convenient to turn them on and off with Alexa instead of the old wireless remote devices I had. The batteries for the old ones were $5-6 each. The only two things I would ask for is to add the usage functionality to them as the competitors have and to add it to the IFTTT app. With IFTTT, you can trigger the devices to turn on and off at sunset and sunrise, just like the competitors do. I bought these for price and function since the competitors dont seem to have an outdoor unit available. It seems like a great product.

Greater than one weekI absolutely LOVE this product!! I have been accused of being Clark W. Griswold with my Christmas lights. I have exterior lights on four different circuits with a WiOn on each circuit, and I can control the on and off times down to the minute. I can program them to come on mulitple times during a 24-hour period and can even select days on which the lights will come on or stay off. I can control it remotely through the app on my smartphone even while Im away from the house and not directly connected to my home wifi. Set up is easy with the provided instructions. I HIGHLY recommend this product for anyone wishing to precisely control on and off times of outdoor electrical items.

> 3 dayGreat idea. Works great when finally working. The Good: I can control various outdoor lights with the 4 devices I purchased. with the wion app and alexa. Worked through the snow we received in NY this weekend. Now that they are set up I really like controlling and scheduling outdoor lighting from anywhere. The Bad: Set up was a nightmare. Part of it was because I have a big property and had to assign different wifi networks to different wion devices and always check which had the strongest signal. The biggest problem was the instructions and the app. Sometimes the app didnt find any wifi. Or the app went out of set up. Then my android phone asked me if I wanted to stay connected to the wion device. Because this step wasnt in the app, I ignored it and never connected. I spent fruitless time resetting the wion to factory setting to try to connect.. Finally I instructed my phone to stay connected to the wion device and then connected promptly to wifi. The device plugs into a receptacle with a very rigid 90 degree plug, which made it impossible to put 2 wion devices directly into one receptacle. Dont plan on using 2 wion on one receptacle. The cord is very short and stiff, so it is hard to position with the plugs down to avoid water entry into the plugs. There are 2 outlets on the device. 3 would be more sensible. Im using 5Watt LED lights so power draw isnt an issue. In addition, the rim around the outlets is close so big outdoor plugs are a tight fit. In brief, poor industrial design and installation instructions, but a great concept and it seems to work well.

> 3 dayUPDATE: Thanks to a review from another person, I finally figured out how to make mine work with alexa. The key is the plug needs to have a 1 word name (in WiOn app). If you use 2 words, it wont connect to alexa. Now that its working with alexa, its a great product. The company isnt great though. No support and their iOS app is the worst UI ive ever seen. Original review: Use this for my x-mas lights on the patio. Now I can turn them on and off without going outside to plug/unplug it, which is awesome. I use the timer usually. Only issue is that Alexa wont find the device, so I cannot use voice commands. I have the skills connected, but the device wont be found.
