It works fine when the device is close to the router, once you are a good distance from the router the wifi signal is not present. Given that this is an exterior plug it probably has better weather shielding compared to indoor models, that might decrease the effective range of the wifi. Had to return mine since it didnt serve my purpose, will stick with my programmable plug for now until better wifi is made available. Maybe incorporate an external antenna into the case design like a smartphone which might improve wifi reception?

Bought my outdoor connector 2 years ago. It controls my 100+ feet of outdoor Christmas lightening and decorations for almost 2 month of the year (late November to early January). It Works flawlessly. This year I was surprised that after being disconnected and stored away with the decoration; the unit was able to reconnect to the home wireless network without me reconfiguring it. I plugged in the outlet, it blink rapidly like searching for the wireless SSID and connected without a problem. I like the application too. I have it installed on my IPhone and IPad devices. I find it to be user friendly and very flexible with the editing and scheduling of events. I also own one of their light switches which I used to control my front porch lighting. I have been using the switch every day for almost 3 years. It has lost connection to the home wireless 2 times, due to prolonged power outage in my nations capital city. To reconnect it to the home wireless, I just pressed the reset button in the unit with a toothpick, the unit blinks blue for a few it then stops blinking and the light becomes a solid blue indicating that the unit is connected to the home Wi-Fi. It is a well made product. I will buy it again and recommen it. NOone has payed/given me anything for my comment.

Easy to program and it works well. I have two of them in my two houses, each run on different wi-fi/internet, I can control both from my Samsung Android very well. I like the Timer that I can add any day/time for start and end. Do not have by dates though, but I do not need programming by date either. If you have your network name hidden, then you need to type in the network name (and the pwd) on the WiOn apps so that it can find your network. Thats is the only difficulty I ran across.

UPDATE: Thanks to a review from another person, I finally figured out how to make mine work with alexa. The key is the plug needs to have a 1 word name (in WiOn app). If you use 2 words, it wont connect to alexa. Now that its working with alexa, its a great product. The company isnt great though. No support and their iOS app is the worst UI ive ever seen. Original review: Use this for my x-mas lights on the patio. Now I can turn them on and off without going outside to plug/unplug it, which is awesome. I use the timer usually. Only issue is that Alexa wont find the device, so I cannot use voice commands. I have the skills connected, but the device wont be found.

I haven’t written to many reviews on Amazon but felt I needed to for this item. People have knocked it because they cannot get it setup within Alexa. It took me a bit to get it setup as well but after reading several reviews once, I did get it to work with Alexa. You NEED to use a one word name within the Wion app. Don’t worry, you can rename it once it’s setup in Alexa/Echo. When setting it up at first winthin the Wion app, just name it “wion” that’s it. Check to make sure it works in the Wion app first, then set it up within Alexa/Echo. Once it’s setup, change the name to whatever you want within the smart home option like any other device you’ve setup. You shouldn’t have any issues and it should work if you do this. It would give it 5 stars if each connection worked independently and not together as one. Hopefully at some point that will happen.

Working well. I’m getting ready to order my third. WiFi range is good. One is in a crawlspace under the house. Even next to a steel beam, it’s connecting to WiFi well. Instructions on setting up and controlling second unit could be better. I found help on an online video. To adjust second or additional units, you have to shift the devices icon to the leftmost position on your display. Once you know to do that, it’s simple to set up. I have it set up on a non-broadcast WiFi network. That can be tricky with some devices, but not this one.

For a few years, I had 5 of these controlling my outdoor landscaping lights. I liked that they didnt require a hub, didnt require communication over the Internet with a server somewhere, and was completely self-contained on my home network. I finally abandoned these in favor of a hub-based system (like SmartThings and Wink) because they are just way too unreliable and have very few programming options. The app that controls these is atrocious and looks like it was designed by someone with no app design experience. Although it can do things like turn on the lights at sunset and turn them off at sunrise, theres no way to do something like turn off the lights 4 hours after sunset unless you program it manually. That may have changed in the few months since I got rid of them. It should be something easy to implement if someone was actually working to improve the app. These have to be in range of a really good wifi signal, otherwise they are impossible to program and control manually. One nice thing is that it will remember the programming, even if not connected to wifi. There were lots of times where the app said the switches couldnt be reached by wifi, but they still turned on and off at the right times. When that happened, the only way to reset the wifi connection was to physically go to the switch and reset it, which was a huge pain. I was constantly having to mess around with the app and the switches to get them to work. Since switching over to a server-based hub system with a better app interface, Ive not had to touch or reprogram my landscape lights once.

I installed 2 of them yesterday to control my mechanical weed control system on my beach. They work great so far. I would have given a 5 star rating but the iPhone app is not very easy to use. It does every thing but for a simple app - it is very difficult to figure out how to do simple things like rename the device. The feature is there but the visual queues are not very obvious/standard.

This 15A outlet is Wi-Fi controlled so I can turn it on an off using an app on my phone. I can also control it using my voice with Amazon Alexa and if my network goes down for some reason I can control it with an onboard switch. A great and versatile addition to my life.

I first purchased one of these nifty little devices to control a table fountain located on my patio table and to my surprise it worked great! So I ordered two more, one for another fountain in my backyard, and one for the mister pump for the patio misters. All three work flawless. The app doesnt always recognize all three timers right away while your device is using mobile data, closing and reopening the app solves this problem. When at home and this happens switch your device to wifi if its not already and all three will appear instantly. Overall for the price the technology and convience these devices provide, the little app problem is minor and is easily overlooked in my opinion. Great job Woods products for another innovative worth while line of devices! I have ordered the indoor power strip to monitor power consumption of my entertainment center. I will write an updated review when I receive this product and give it some time to prove itself.
