Wyze Plug, 2.4GHz WiFi Smart Plug, Compatible with Alexa, Google Assistant, IFTTT, No Hub Required, Four-Pack, White

Tried these because they are about half the price of most competing smart timers. They work most of the time. The app is clunky and not intuitive. Firmware updates quickly upon initialization and the app finds the devices well (more than can be said of some smart home products) but it sometimes fails to turn on or off. And when I try to manually turn on or off a device, it won’t let me. Instead, the digital slider button will flip and then immediately flip back. But I have continued to order and use them on my house plant lights because they don’t tick like manual timers, cost just the same and work *most* of the time.

These worked out great for our vacation. Also works great for helping my baby sleep. This way I dont get up and make noise. Apps is easy to use so I can turn off the light in the click of a button!

I have now bought a scale and several plugs made by Wyze. They are seriously the most solid/reliable/easy to use connected products. I’m thinking about switching my entire house over to Wyze products. They have earned my trust.

I love these smart plugs to control my lamps and other electric items in my house, inside and outside.

This is my 3rd set of outlets and they work like they’re supposed to. If you’re looking for an inexpensive smart plug, these aren’t a bad choice. They can work with Home Assistant if you want to do a little extra leg work installing JoshuaMulliken’s integration.

It seems like every other day I have to go in and re-add one of these plugs to the app/network because it says its not available. Its not difficult to do, but if multiple go out at once, its difficult to see which one youre reconnecting to unless youre watching the flashing light patterns on each of them while going through the setup. Its just annoying to have to do this on a regular basis. When they do drop off, they still retain their schedule, so your lights will still turn on and off per the set schedule, but you lose the ability to manually turn them on/off with the app or with a connected assistant (google and alexa). Then, once you reconnect to them, if you dont do it the right way you lose the schedule for that plug and have to re-program that to get it to turn on/off automatically. Theyre easy to setup, configure, and manual button works fine if you can reach where these are plugged in. Firmware needed to fix the stability and reconnection on its own. My KASA plugs seem to not have this issue, whats so different in these?

Update to my original review - upgraded from 1 to 3 stars. Some of the recent firmware updates have improved the reliability of these smart plugs. I now have a total of 6 Wyze plugs. Been unable to purchase the Eufy ones that work well. Only had to reset / re-pair 2 of them in the last 3 months. Maybe by the end of the year, they wont be such a hassle to use. Still wont use them in hard to reach scenarios. ------------------------------------ We are a Wyze household and have been for many years. A lot of Wyze Cam V2, all of the V2 sensor addons, V3 cameras, Pan Camera, Robot Vaccuums. I basically needed to have a different WiFi network for all these devices. I purchased 4 Wyze Smart Plugs. They all setup easily and worked fine out of the box. Paired with the app and Alexa integration works. They operated as advertised. I was careful to make sure that I am not using them to connect any high wattage devices. Why the 1 star? These smart plugs lose their configuration regularly and randomly. All 4 smart plus have lost their configuration randomly over the last couple of months. Each time this happens and the most inopportune time (and you only know when something has failed to trigger or you may notice this on the Wyze app that the device is disconnected), you need to basically remove the device and do the setup thing all over again. 4 devices / 10 re-setups in less than 3 months. Pretty much makes these unusable. Coincidentally, I also have 6 Eufy and 4 TP-Link smart plugs on the same network connected during this time. The Eufy smart plugs were setup I think 3 years ago, the TP-Link ones over 2.5 years ago. Never had to do anything for those after initial setup. The Wyze smart plugs were kept updated (firmware wise) and had less electrical load than the other brands. I couldnt recommend these Wyze smart plugs given their finicky / random loss of configuration. Technically they work when the hold their configuration, but what if I installed these to control devices that were inconvenient to get to? What if I actually needed them to actually work over a long period of time?

Really easy to set up and get working. Read several reviews about have problems with firmware update . When you open the app , Do not go to the device to update the firmware , go to your account (bottom right of your phone app) and find the firmware update menu and use it to update . If you go to the device to update the firmware it might hang . Try it !

Works well. Connected to my wifi easily. Got it so my wife wouldnt leave her hair appliances on/plugged in and burn down the house. So far, so good
