> 3 dayIve been using Wyze home automation products for a couple of years now. I wanted to keep all the devices within the same product brand and Wyze is reasonably good quality with reasonable prices. A couple of weeks ago, one of my Wyze plugs failed, so I ordered 4 new ones and of the 4 only 1 was able to successfully update the firmware. When the firmware update fails, the plug doesnt work. Ive tried every plug at least 10 times, tried reconfiguring my network, contacted support. Nothing worked. Theyre obviously just defective. Apparently Wyze has some defective product on the market right now and until they fix it, I strongly recommend against purchasing Wyze. In addition, Wyze needs a few products added to their product line. In particular, they need a double wall light switch and wall light switches that dont require a neutral wire. It would also be nice if they would make a bulb camera.

> 3 dayI could not update firmware and once the device was listed on the Wyze app it didnt work. Even after adding to the google home app it didnt do anything. The device did show in the wyze app (without an ip address) and did show on google home but neither app would control anything. I did find the issue and it was my wifi security setup. Solution: Thought Id let you know that if you use access control on your router like I do that you have to add the device to the network first then restart the device before trying to pair. Problem: I allowed the device (2 of them) on my network when I got to the network signin step on the Wyze app add a device and it never added the ip address to the wyze app (so no firmware update) though the device did show on my network. Hopefully this will help anyone else who uses access control on their wifi router.

> 3 dayThis is a GREAT product. Just buy it. FIVE STARS! A great compliment to home security. Can make you look like your home when you’re not through automated “vacation mode” light controls. And much more. Originally I gave it a one star review bc the plug kept dropping off wifi connection. Basically making the plug not an ideal choice for home security. However, there was an OTA firmware update two weeks ago. Since then, none of my plugs have dropped off wifi. Very stable now. Plugs work great now. AMAZING product. Thanks Wyze! p.s. below was my original one star review for context ******** I am a loyal Wyze customer. I have many of their products in my house from cameras, outdoor floodlights, plugs, etc. In total, about 17 wyze products in my home. Many of my Wyze products are GREAT. So it pains me to have to write a negative review on their smart plug. These smart plugs have a huge flaw - they randomly disconnect from their wifi connection. And their is no way to reestablish the wifi connection unless you are physically next to the plug and have to do a hard physical restart. The plug is incapable of reestablishing wifi connection automatically. And you can not prompt it to do so remotely via the app on your smartphone. Since most people will use this plug to control lights when they are away for security reasons (vacation, coming home late from work, etc), this random wifi drop problem makes it a terrible choice as part of a home security setup. Went on two vacations recently. Both over a week long. A few days into each vacation, my app started showing a few of my plugs as “off line”. Basically you can’t control them remotely and they are no long working. Basically your home security with lights going on and off at night is gone. I’ve spoke to customer service many times on this issue. I’ve done it all - hard resents, turning off 5ghz on router so plug can connect to 2.4ghz, erase/reinstall app, etc. Nothing works. When you google this issue, there’s a lot of people out there experiencing the same thing with this plug. Wyze has openly stated they are aware of the issue and have sent firmware updates to fix it. Firmware update have been sent, but the issue is not fixed. This is the first negative Amazon review I have ever written. I hope Wyze reads this and understands that loyal customers of Wyze are super frustrated over this issue. PLEASE FIX THIS. It’s my hope that you can fix this asap. And then I can turn this one star review into a five star! Thank you

> 3 dayI initially found the Wyze plugs at that orange hardware store. I knew I had to have more! This Four-Pack is a bargain! We have a detached garage some distance from the home and never found a good solution for controlling the lights from the house. Apart from trenching the two buildings and running underground conduit the Wyze plug fit the bill as an effective solution! This product is not rated for outdoor use but Wyze does have outdoor plugs. We installed a low watt super bright LED motion sensor flood light on the out side and have it run it an outlet on the inside and it works perfectly! Wyze app has rules that you can set to your geographic location automatically to turn the light on at sunset and off at sunrise and even voice activated via your Amazon Alexa, or you cellphone Alexa app, or your Wyze app! You can even check the device status while you are away from your home! We even use Wyze plugs for fish tank lights!

> 3 dayNote: Im writing this review on the same day I installed the plugs so I have not experienced the long term effects of using the plugs. The plugs were easy to install and sync up with my Google Home Hub. You have to install the Wyze app to configure the plug...and by configure, the plug only needs to know how to connect to your local home wifi so that other devices (Google Home) can communicate with it. To install, you run the Wyze app, add device, plug in the plug, and wait a minute for the app to find the device. Note: There are 2 types of plugs on the app: the older version and new (2021) version. At first, I chose the older version, thinking that these were older plugs. Couldnt connect. But when I chose the newer version it connected in a snap. I named the plug Tea Kettle and my Google Home was able to find the device with ease. Plugs like these work fine for devices like my tea kettle and wax aroma device. These are simple devices with merely an on/off switch. Devices like a Mr. Coffee or Keurig may not work since you have to punch more buttons to make them work. I was not bothered by the noise level of the click when it turns on or off. Its audible, but not enough to annoy me. Its also satisfying to hear the click, knowing that the device is working. If the plugs continue to work great after a month, then Ill be buying more.

02-06-2025I purchased a two-pack of Wyze plugs in August 2021 and was quite happy with them; so much so that I purchased another pair in December. In late January, however, I started having an issue (I was using three of the four plugs Id purchased). All three plugs would go offline and refuse to reconnect. I power-cycled them. I deleted them from my app and re-added them. They would again go offline within a day or two. So I contacted Wyze customer service. I was disconnected from the first customer representative and had to start over. The second customer service representative was unhelpful (and borderline condescending). I definitely dont appreciate clearly explaining all the things Ive already done to troubleshoot the problem only to have someone ask me if the plugs are connected to power. And then send me the boilerplate troubleshooting text I can easily access on my own via their website. Once again, I deleted my Wyze plugs from the app, power-cycled them, and re-added them to the app. Once again, they worked for approximately two days and then went offline. I factory reset all of them and repeated the process, same result. This was not an issue with my Wi-Fi connection/internet service (i.e. network health issues), as I had 1GB fiber internet and a Wi-Fi 6 router. One of the three Wyze plugs that kept going offline was in the same room as my router, literally less than 9 feet away. Regardless, I ran their Route This Helps app, as instructed, and it indicated my WiFi network health results were Very Good. Eventually Wyze notified me that, since I purchased the plugs within the last 1 year, then Im eligible for a Warranty Replacement or Wyze Store Credit for the amount of your product. Great... so I can get a new set of plugs that dont work? Dont waste your money on these Wyze plugs.

Greater than one weekWorks exactly as expected. Works well with Google Home (most of the time) and Wyze app and Wyze automation.

Greater than one weekWhen setting these up for the first time the app asks if you have the original or the 2021 version of these plugs. There is no way to distinguish between the two. After a few failed attempts at the original method, I tried the 2021 method and it worked immediately. This is a great improvement over the older plugs which were always a PITA to set up. My main criticism is they seem to be in such a hurry to release new products they skip details like identifying the version of the plugs I received. Minor problem but nonetheless shows a lack of focus on the customer. Finally, my last gripe is how they laid an egg regarding the door sensors. A crappy product, released with much fanfair to their loyal customers, which disappeared like a fart in the wind. Wyze, please slow down, pay attention to the details, and do it right the first time!

> 3 dayI’ve purchased a number of these plugs and I love them. The last purchase I ordered a double pack. I used the first one and it was great. I didn’t instal the second one until months later. Unfortunately it doesn’t work and I can return to Amazon.

> 3 daySome of these are connected to devices so I can have small space heaters turn on/off by a schedule.. and others just give me a way to restart a device that maybe 60 miles away. Also had one on my coffee pot, so it would automatically turn off if I forgot, by gps location in Alexa.. Good way to make non smart devices better on the electric bill, or give you some peace of mind that you may have forgot t whatever small appliances on.. I can always double check from the app if that silly coffee mark was left on or not.
