> 24 hourThe charger that comes with the Kindle Fire is lame at best. Poor quality and construction, no detachable USB cord, and cannot be used as a USB cable to connect/charge with a PC. This cable charger combo is a much better product. I guess theyre trying to save on costs offering the device at $199, and I can understand that. I personally prefer this white combination of the USB cable and detachable charger. Works much better for me.

> 24 hourUPDATE: After reviewing other reviews, and after purchase, I contacted customer support online and requested a refund due to a defective product. Within 12 hours, I received a response indicating that they have provided a full refund on my purchase and 1 day shipping for my product. I will still receive it tomorrow. Excellent customer service and turnaround time. However, Amazon still needs to address the quality issues with the adapter product. ___________________________________________________________________ Original Review: After a few months of use, the charger became loose when plugged into the Kindle. I originally thought that maybe the Kindle opening for the charger was defective, or became defective over a period of time, causing the charger to not fit. As long as I wriggled the charger and set it very carefully after getting the yellow light, I could get a charge. After a time, using the charger plugged into the wall stopped working completely. I had to get a replacement Kindle, and thought that I would finally be able to charge successfully, based upon my original thought that the Kindle opening was defective. However, after receiving the replacement Kindle, the charging issue got worse. I realized then that the issue was the actual charger itself; not the Kindle. So, here I am, ordering a new charger. Therefore, the issue actually started a few months after the purchase of my Kindle; not a year after my purchase of the Kindle. I would like for Amazon to address this issue. It appears that there are many problems with the charger; not just the fact that the charger becomes loose and capricious in its charging ability. I do not want to have to buy a new charger every three months, because I live in Mexico, and only come to the states every now and again.

> 24 hourPerfect! Excellent replacement power adapter. It works as well as the first one that came with the Kindle and now I have an extra power adapter. It works well with my 2nd generation Kindle. If you need to replace your cord, this is the perfect replacement.

> 24 hourI had to buy a replacement Kindle power adapter because mine was coming apart and wires were showing. I believe the hard cover around the wires should be more flexible. The outer covering is a hard plastic which makes it crack with all the movement of the cord. I wish they would re-design the outer plastic cord and make it more flexible.

> 24 hourI needed an A/C adapter for a Kindle that I bought as a gift. The item was extremely easy to locate on Amazon and the entire transaction was very pleasurable. I made payment, it was shipped. Very fast turnaround which is just what I needed to be able to give it along with the Kindle.

> 24 hourI had to order a new replacement power adapter for my Kindle due to the casing on the original cord having completely disintegrated. I contacted Amazon.com, described my problem and it immediately reimbursed me for a replacement! (Thank you, Amazon.) I am very satisfied with the response but dismayed to think that the problem happened in the first place. Hopefully the problem has been fixed and there will be no further defect.

> 24 hourLess than a year after purchasing my second Kindle and twice replacing the charging cable because the outer casing deteriorated immediately, flaking away, I am debating whether to again spend the +$20 cost of another replacement cable or just applying the loss to the purchase of an iPad. Spend more then $70 to replace Kindle defective cables within one year? What would you do?

> 24 hourThe replacement Kindle charger I ordered from Amazon was the exact same cord I had received with my original Kindle. My original cord had been broken at the Kindle end and also had a few breaks in the cord where it got mashed. Taking care of the cord will keep me from having to order another one, athough Amazon is amazing and got my order to me quickly.

> 24 hourWe have two Kindles, and we love them! Both of the power cords after 6 months of service began to have a sticky feeling to the plastic coating on the wire portion of the cord, a month or so later the plastic coating started to flake off exposing the bare wire below. This was clearly a safety hazard. I called Amazon and they IMMEDIATELY replace the two cords, at no cost to me! In my view, this is just another example of Amazons great customer service! I never worry about anything I buy from amazon because they make purchasing and returning merchandise so easy.

> 24 hourWhat a terrible product!! Ive never seen anything like this before. I have two cables. Both I bought at the same time Ive purchased my Kindle, March 22nd 2009. Today, after a month that I didnt use my Kindle, I reached the cable to charge it and its cover was falling apart, all cracked up.. Then I look after my other cable that I have in my backpack and it had the same issue. It seems like a lot of people are having the same problem. Amazon should send a new cable to everyone. That is the least I expect from a company like Amazon. Take a look at that: [...]
