> 3 dayBought this to upgrade my Ender 3 that was incredibly noisy. Noisy enough to keep me up at night. Id previously installed dampers, but they didnt fit correctly because of the lack of grub screws on the stepper motors. I kept hearing about an upgraded mainboard that could solve my issues without the need for motor dampers. I was a little skeptical, but eventually broke down and bought this mainboard. Honestly, I would give the thing 6 stars if I could. HUGE difference. The stepper motors are basically whisper quiet now. Strongly recommended!

> 3 dayDue to a storm causing a surge that fried my BTT board, I decided to go with the creality 4.2.7 board. I did have to hard wire the board cooling fan so its on the entire time the printer is on, but the rest was plug and play. Its quieter than the BTT board, mostly because this was newer, but the prints are amazing, its ready to have firmware flashes on it without doing anything and its BL Touch ready.

> 3 dayUpgrade was not hard. Took about an hour, half of it removing my existing printer mods, OctoPi, camera, etc., labeling some of the cables with a marker and taking plenty of photos along the way, just in case. Id say much easier than the initial printer assembly. I cannot believe how much smoother and quieter the steppers are on the new board. I was going to say whisper quiet, but I can hear a whisper. The only sound now is the fan. Took noise measurements during print before (48db) and after (36db) to back my impressions up. Besides the TMC driver upgrade, the new board comes with Marlin 1.1.8, includes thermal runaway protection and bootloader for easy firmware upgrades. I upgraded firmware on my previous 1.1.4 board (which might affect warranty), but see no reason to mess with the new one for quite a while. I purchased my printer from Comgrow as well and have had a great experience with them. Including customer support interactions during my first 2 weeks of learning - they were always responsive and more than accommodating. Big thumbs up!

22-11-2024Installation was fairly easy and the detail diagram include made it easy to get all the connections back right. I only had one minor issue, it wouldnt get past extruder heating, just keep fluctuation 5-10 degrees once it got to temp and stuck at extruder heating step. If you encounter that just do a PID auto tune. Afterword it worked flawlessly and crazy quite compared to stock board. Now I just need to figure out how to quite the fans. For anyone unsure of how to do a PID auto tune: For ender 3 printers you will need a computer, USB cable, and a tool like pronterface printrun. For detailed instructions check out BV3D youtube channel for their PID AutoTune your Ender-3 V2 video.

> 3 dayThe only thing you can hear now are the fans. missing a star because onboard driver is 2208, no linear advance in newer Marlin. Still 8 bit. Should include extra extruder driver for the price. Better options out there for the money unless you just want silent operation and nothing more.
