Digital Soldering Station with Chisel Tip Pack T18-D08/D12/D24/D32/S3

After eight months using this as a second station to my Weller digital, I cant recommend it. Ergonomically, its very nice. I dont mind the program controls either. But if they are all like mine, tip temp seems to wander. The display will read the proper temp, but the tip will stall. i dont know another way to put it. Its inconsistent and frustrating. I may have a defective unit. Unfortunately, Ive only used this unit approx. two hours in that eight months, so the irritation has been a slow burn.

excellent iron whether youre a beginner or pro

This Hakko Soldering Station with tips was an excellent purchase for my vintage electronics repair shop. I had an old Weller/Ungar soldering station that was my favorite, until they discontinued it and the tips for it. I tried a new Weller soldering station and it was okay, it had a really long and kludgy soldering iron, that just didnt hold up to the heat and came loose from the handle. The Hakko FX-888D is absolutely fabulous, the control unit takes up much less space, than the Weller. The iron is the right size for me. The cable is long enough to perform various soldering tasks without moving the base. The Hakko heats up extremely fast and has great temperature recovery, even when using a wet sponge. It is very easy to change temperature, once you download the manual from Hakko. The tips are great and are all very useful sizes. The iron with the largest tip on about 750 degrees has no problem flowing solder to chassis grounds. The space worked out so good that I was able to drill partial holes right in front of the Iron on the back of the bench and put the tips there for easy access and to keep them in order from small to large. Overall a fantastic product, I would definitely recommend the FX-888D for the hobbyist to the professional.

This is my first nice soldering station. It is amazing how much better it is than the old cheap soldering irons I was using. Highly recommended. Heats up very quickly, and maintains temp.

This is the soldering station you want. Very good tips, on the comfortable and solid iron, with a very nice flexible cable. This has solid temp control. VERY well constructed and good support. THIS is the one you want! Just pay a little extra for this, over the cheapos and you wont be disappointed.

Best soldering system I have ever used.
