I am no soldering station aficionado but I do have an eye for quality and this product passed the test with flying colors. I wrestled with the decision to invest in a higher end tool versus buying a cheap model since I do not solder all that often and a local electronics store would fix my delicate repairs for free half the time. My old solder gun came from the shack about 35 years ago and wasnt suited for circuit board work but it would get me through most of my basic needs. Enter the Hakko FX888D. What a dream machine this is. It heats up quick, maintains temp, feels great in the hand, and passes my is this a cheap piece of junk test with an A++. As with many tools there is a big difference in the outcome when using a quality piece of equipment versus a cheap knock off. A friend of mine ragged on me for buying this unit while he boasted of the value of his $7 model which supposedly did the same thing. He went on to confess that having a fan on way across the garage was enough to make his iron lose temp so he had to turn it off when soldering! Bottom line, I would buy this again in a heart beat if for some reason I needed to. PS, other reviewers are not exaggerating when they talk of the sturdiness of the gun cradle. You will not be disappointed.

A useful tool at a good price. Works well.

After a few weeks 750 wont melt a tiny amount of solder. Replaced the element...still faulty.

Fast heating, great set, however note that it is 120V.

Wish I had purchased this station years ago. The more I use it the move I love it. Thanks to the engineer on You Tube for his recommending this one. Ive recommended to my group of amateur radio operators as their primary solder equipment.

Great for hobby or professional use. This is a high quality product. I used this to get my certifications and have soldered various projects with this unit. It works just as well as the $500 dollar units I have used.
