Digital Soldering Station with Chisel Tip Pack T18-D08/D12/D24/D32/S3

No experience soldering prior to buying the Hakko (just watch the electronic Aussy guy on Youtube demonstrate it). My first ever soldering (a PL-259 connector onto RG-58 coax) task was challenging and successful, if not beautifully perfect. I definitely made the right choice with Hakko.

Just cant go wrong with a Hakko. The first time you use a temperature controlled iron, youll wonder how you ever worked with a single-wattage iron or a cheaper adjustable wattage iron. Consistent solder joints are a breeze.

The temp adjust is a bit finicky but it’s nice it can be done. I found that running a higher temp for my 63/37 solder was better than running per formula. Iron is easy to handle and having the ability to change tips quickly is an advantage. It is a good design although wish the display was a bit tilted up for better viewing. Heats up quickly. Easy to pick temps. I prefer using the presets which must be turned on to use. The manual isn’t difficult to follow and use. I do suggest watching the several videos online supplied by hakkousa. I think those reviews knocking this station are too critical and more likely due to user error.

Wish I would have bought this earlier. I dont solder a ton but its the best unit Ive ever used and wished I would have purchased it sooner. After about 6 other units, Ive settled on this one.

This thing is amazing. I solder guitar cables and electronics in guitars. It can heat to 750 in a matter of seconds, and it doesnt cool while you are working. No melting, no weird smells... Get it.

Very robust, excellent design. hopefully it lives up to EEVBLOGs recommendation.

Everyone was right about the instructions being somewhat vague, however instructional videos can be found on YouTube on Hakkos page. It will take a little getting used to just to get the sequence to get the temp you want. Thats the only reason for only four stars. For the type of iron it is and the price, it would be hard to beat. Hakka offers repair/replacement parts that many others don not.
