Cost more than other irons on the market and you get less goodies but the bottom line is there is no substitute for the best and that is what you are getting with this Hakko temp is stable and fast never too hot or too cold verified by my fluke meter and temp sensor, no matter the load you put on it the processor will keep the temp stable

After soldering for a few years with a cheap iron I finally decided to upgrade. I bought the Hakko and couldnt be more thrilled. It has made soldering so much more fun and enjoyable. Heats up real quick, my old one took forever. It is small and easy to handle. The only thing is the U.I. It can be confusing but all you have to do is go to YouTube and search the iron and there are plenty of videos to help you through it; pretty easy after you learn. I am very happy with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone who is in the market for one. Do yourself a big favor and get this soldering iron, you will not regret it.

I have been dealing with 30-40 yr-old Wellers in various states of disrepair. I finally got pissed enough to throw all of it away and purchased this unit and I couldnt be happier. So far this that has soldered everything Ive put in front of it. It well exceeds any RC needs and will suit you well for any larger tasks around the house.

So much better than my old $20 solder station. melts solder so i dont have to hold the iron on a spot in worry that the component will overheat.

When I was young and into electronics, I hated soldering. The Radio Shack soldering iron I had was a royal pain to use. It was always too hot or too cold... The Hakko is an absolute joy. Set it for the appropriate temperature, and youre off to the races. It works great, its comfortable, and this kit comes with a range of tips for almost any job. The included stand is very high quality. For a home hobbyist, this is a great unit.

I have bought and thrown away many soldering irons over the years. The plan was always to save money but would have saved money if I just got the Hakko soldering station. It heats up in 30 seconds and I could not be happier.

I originally bought this for soldering in some very small components, but I have found that it works equally well (with the right tip) for some pretty heavy duty work. I recently had to solder some leads onto some 1/2 x 1/16 copper strip and was pleasantly surprised that this iron, with a large tip, was up to the task, but also able to handle some tiny surface mount components when mated to an appropriate tip for that work. I also like the soldering iron stand, which holds the iron securely while isolating the tip. When I made the order, I assumed that the stand would be a lightweight affair, but it is hefty enough to stay in place.

Holds its temperature, has a nice hard ceramic coated metal (not cheap plastic like it appears in the photos), and holds its temperature to within a degree, making it great for fine-detailed SMD work or hard core tear-downs. Since the controller is a separate unit, the soldering pencil itself is very lightweight and easy to grip. Got mine with a nice assortment of tips which work great if you are persistent in keeping them clean after each use. The advantage to a temp-controlled soldering iron is that even those with rheostat adjusted control, the simply overheat the tip. Contrary to popular belief, the tip of the soldering iron is the most important and sensitive piece, and making sure that it doesnt overheat is the single best way to keep your tips working for years. Love this so far!
