Since receiving a Dremel Idea Builder, I have used three different colored PLA spools. The colors are bright and vibrant. I havent had any trouble installing or using this official Dremel PLA in my machine. My only concern is the lack of variety in the color choices. Other brands have a very large variety of colors to choose from and right now Dremel only offers a select few. Id love to see more options in the future. Update: After going through a few reels, I have found that the filament get very brittle as it ages. I dont go through filament as quickly as some and when I get towards the end of a reel, it seems to break quite easily.

I have 12 3D Printers. 1 Prusa MK3S, 1 Matterhacker Pulse XE Advanced NylonX, 1 Dremel 3D45, 2 Dremel 3D40, and 7 Dremel 3D20 printers. These are my own personal printers and I use them to build several projects with my kids everyday. We design and build our own things using Matter Control, Slicer, Tinkercad, Autocad and Autodesk Print Studio. We have tried the other brands of Filaments from the different vendors but we now only buy filaments from Dremel, Matterhacker and Coex. For my more exotic filaments for the Prusa and Pulse XE Advanced NylonX, I buy from Matterhacker and Coex. But for PLA for my Dremel, It is only the Dremel PLA that is worth it for my Dremels. I have a Dremel 3D20 with the top opened feeding from a 5 lb. Spool of PLA from COEX. But all the other Dremels only use Dremel filaments. One reason is that I really like their filaments. After figuring out the perfect slice settings, I get perfect prints every time. And All my printers are printing every day non-stop. With the cheaper filaments, I find that the slicer settings that were perfect with one spool, is not perfect for the next spool. Also, since I have long print times, I like it that the Dremels are enclosed so dust does not get in and ruin my builds. The Dremel PLA filaments are the level if the PLA Pro in Color and consistency. The colors are bright. They are also silky and have a pretty sheen. The white us very white, unlike the slightly off white if the cheap brands. Look at the picture of the things I am building as they are so silky that you can see the reflection of the LED lights of the printer on the object. Mind you I am printing those in the lowest quality setting for Fast print. I have been using their filament for years. I find I spend less money because there are less errors so I don’t have to repeat as much as the cheaper filaments. The last thing you want to do is feed garbage to your beautiful Dremel. I tinkered with one Dremel and found that it just is not worth it. This Machine was designed to use this filament. Filaments are very different based on the manufacturer. I found the perfect settings for my use years ago, and I have not changed them since my filaments are consistent. Feel feee spending all your time trying to print perfectly with other filaments. You will have to find the perfect print temperatures for different layers, perimeter and layering, cooling, adhesion, support, infill, retraction, Z offset.....among the hundreds of things you will need to experiment with. That is assuming you have had lots of experience making those adjustments. Or you can just get the filament that was meant for this printer and be done with it. Dremels are known to be the easiest to use, reliable and among the best print quality. Use it the way it was intended.

Ironic that the Dremel filament gave me the worst time with a Dremel printer. It would clog, bunch up, and generally suck at its only job. After 3 failed attempts, I ended up throwing the rest in the trash. Next time Ill save myself the trouble and just throw some money in the trash instead. I switched filament brands and havent had any issues since.

The prints came out great but after every job I had to replace the line since it would break when I went to use it the next day. At $40 + for a small spool of filament is not worth it. This is not the way Dremel.

Horrible product. The height of them spool, or the diameter, or the interior spoke will NOT fit your printer. You will have to redpool this filament. Horrible. Do not buy.

Perfectly packaged, shipped quickly. Went through the first spool of filament that my printer came with pretty quickly so ordered a couple more. Worked just as well the the filament that came with it and was easy to install. Not the cheapest filament, but prints nicely, and hasnt broken on me yet! (knock on wood)

Im relatively new to 3D printing, i purchased my first printer a Dremel 3D45 6 months ago. At first I thought the filament was great, now after Ive gone through many spools at a ridicules price Im finding this stuff is garbage. I have many years of experience programming and running CNC machines so i picked up this hobby up pretty Quick. Im finding once you open a spool its OK but about 2/3 or less through the spool then it becomes very brittle as a result failed prints . If you place it between your thumb and four finger and bend it, it snaps(garbage). I love the Dremel printer but the filament is less to be desired. Im now looking for an alternative.

I dont typically review items I havent purchased but its worth pointing out for people new to 3d printing and/or those who have (for some reason) purchased a Dremel printer that this filament is extremely overpriced. Typical spools are 1kg and for that amount of filament $25 is a pretty good price. This is basically a half spool for the same money. If youre willing to pay this price then check out some of the premium brands like filamentum.
