> 3 daySince receiving a Dremel Idea Builder, I have used three different colored PLA spools. The colors are bright and vibrant. I havent had any trouble installing or using this official Dremel PLA in my machine. My only concern is the lack of variety in the color choices. Other brands have a very large variety of colors to choose from and right now Dremel only offers a select few. Id love to see more options in the future. Update: After going through a few reels, I have found that the filament get very brittle as it ages. I dont go through filament as quickly as some and when I get towards the end of a reel, it seems to break quite easily.

> 3 dayUsing this in a Dremel Idea Builder 3D45 and the results were great! The standard 3D45 spools come with RFID so once placed into the printer, the settings are automatically set. Because these do not have said RFID tag included, the printer prompted me to choose the material type and then the various other settings for the material such as extruder temp, heated bed temp, etc. This was no issue and I had control over each either at the printer itself or within the Dremel slicing software as well the online printer interface. The product came properly vacuum sealed and with desiccant pack included. Because of habit; once opened I placed thefilament in my DIY dry box (semi-airtight box with loose descant) for them to properly cure and remove any moisture, however, this likely may not be needed right out of the seal. The material a day or two later was placed in the printer and not a single issue. Being hard pressed to find something wrong; the only thing I could come up with is that the actual spool the filament is on, unlike the 3D45 counterparts, does not have holes or spacing in the spoked areas. This makes it a bit tricky to get the spool back out of the spool holder built into the printer. I have large hands and as such could not get a grip on the edge to remove so I simply had to place a wooden stick and slide/pry out the spool some to get a grip. Overall nothing to be concerned with but something that caught me in one of those Ah Ha! moments. Overall a great product and price and I will continue to purchase these spools of filament. They work great and cannot recommend enough!

17-11-2024Like all of the other Dremel PLA Ive used in my Digilab 3D45, this filament breaks between every couple of uses if it is not used for more than 2 days at a time (it snaps apart in 2 or more places due to the strong circular shape memory and brittleness of the filament). This happens in up to 3 places: inside the guide tube, outside the guide tube, and near the extruder. I dont have this problem with any other brands of filaments in my other non-dremel 3D printer. Ive contacted Dremel support about this issue earlier this year with the silver PLA and they sent me a free replacement spool of equally brittle filament that results in a lot of waste as I have to cut and re-load about 6 inches of filament fragments apart every single time I print after not printing for a couple of days. I was hoping it was just a problem with the silver dremel PLA but it occurs with the red as well apparently. PLA is not known for its flexibility but it should at least not break while its on the spool, before its even used to print anything. I maintain a low-moisture room where my printing occurs, so its not filament spoilage from my local environment, and the desiccant pack was intact, this is not the first spool this has happened with, so I think Dremel just has a faulty formula for their PLA. Its a shame at the high price they charge for it. Its the most problematic and brittle filament Ive ever used, but at least it doesnt cause any jams and seems uniform in width. Ive lost over 3 feet of this spool so far to breakage since I received it on Nov 28th. I only use it because using non-dremel filaments requires an outside spool holder and will void my Dremel printer warranty and Im not ready to do that yet.

> 3 dayIm relatively new to 3D printing, i purchased my first printer a Dremel 3D45 6 months ago. At first I thought the filament was great, now after Ive gone through many spools at a ridicules price Im finding this stuff is garbage. I have many years of experience programming and running CNC machines so i picked up this hobby up pretty Quick. Im finding once you open a spool its OK but about 2/3 or less through the spool then it becomes very brittle as a result failed prints . If you place it between your thumb and four finger and bend it, it snaps(garbage). I love the Dremel printer but the filament is less to be desired. Im now looking for an alternative.

> 3 dayHopefully it was just from a bad batch, Ive had to be super careful with this filament to get it to stick. Its the only filament that Ive had trouble with. Luckily there are other fish in the sea...

> 3 dayThe white PLA extrudes perfect with no bubbles, ripples, or other defects that I have had with other PLAs, but much more importantly, this is my second spool, which is now nearly done, and the winding is perfect. I have had serious problems with other companies (I have another 3d Printer, a Makerbot Replicator that accepts any PLA or ABS), and am not a newbie to this, with the winding of the filament to the degree that filament is overlapped so that it cannot unwind without assistance. I love this Dremel filament spool because it unwinds perfectly, and I can leave my machine unattended for hours, something I was NEVER able to do with the Replicator.
