Dyson V11 Torque Drive Cordless Vacuum Cleaner, Blue

So Ive been using this Dyson V11 Torque Drive Cordless Vacuum Cleaner for a while and these are the pros and cons Ive found with the product. First of all, Ive used a vacuum cleaner that was nearly 100 dollars previously and had to sell it back because the suction power was just too weak. (It was made from China) Now that I’ve got it changed to this Dyson V11 product the difference all I could say is that it is crazy. There is a reason why people were buying this expensive product for a reason. And from this experience I was able to understand why people say expensive products are expensive for a reason. As I was saying, Dyson V11 series at current point has the strongest suction power in the vacuum cleaner market. When you are using this product, you wont feel any worry that this machine wouldnt have the capacity or the sucking power to suck something out from the ground. When I do use it, it even feels as if the vacuum cleaner is sucking the carpet fur itself and not just the dirt, thats how strong it is. In terms of the weight, some people do say females would have a hard time using it for a long time because of its weight. It is partly true, considering that Dyson V11 is not a lightweight compared to other cheap vacuum cleaners I’ve used. But this bit of weight actually brings more stability to cleaning and that’s what I personally felt more positively than the weight being something to worry about. The battery life so far is lasting good and you can change the modes(each mode lists the battery time left on the screen) to your own choice how long and extensive you want to use your Dyson. In the end, to me, this product was not a waste of money but a life lesson why you should buy a good product in the first place for a reason. Because it sure does its job well and Dyson’s warranty system is also trustworthy in this case for future problems.

My only disappointment is having to continue to hold down the on trigger. Everything else is perfect.

Purchased this vacuum looking for a premium product that would do the job well, have good reliability and in situations where there were issues, would have a good support team backing it up. Because after all, this is the premium option right? Unfortunately, this was not the case. The product lasted ~4 months with fairly minimal use and regular cleaning before the trigger began having issues. The product would turn on when you pull the trigger, but upon release, it would continue to run for 30 seconds to a minute before finally turning off the motor. We worked around it for a few days thinking it was just a bug or an issue but it continued this behavior. I was actually excited to contact Dyson because typically when dealing with a premium product like this, the customer service is top notch. Unfortunately again, this was not the case. The chat feature on their website would not work. It would take you through a script before asking you a question that would just error out. I ended up calling their support line where I had to jump through menus before finally getting to talk to someone where the immediate vibe was not how can we help but instead what do you want. I went through the issues with the representative where they informed me, that before they could do anything to even answer my questions, they needed to register me in their system. Fine, not a big deal. I went through the process of tracking down the serial number on my vacuum, communicating that to them over the phone, and telling them my information multiple times, only to be told that the product was already registered under a different name. I asked them how this could happen, and was told that the only way this could happen is if I was sold an open box product, which I will address later in this review. I told the representative that I had purchased it brand new from Amazon and that I would be happy to send them a PDF copy of the invoice from my original purchase (even though I dont think I should have to jump through this hoop for them to just make their $700 vacuum work as expected). The representative basically just said tough luck. If we cant register your product we will not answer any questions, you cannot speak to a support rep, nothing. I asked them what my options were and they said There is nothing we can do for you, you need to contact Amazon and have them replace the product. That was the end of my Dyson experience, I had already made up my mind that I would not be exchanging the product as I have no interest in ever owning another Dyson product if that is the level of their support. Now to Amazon ... I immediately went back and confirmed the listing that it was fulfilled and sold by Amazon (it was) and that the condition of the product was listed as New (it was) to make sure I hadnt made a mistake when ordering. Once I had confirmed this, I called Amazon to make the issue right. To their credit, they were willing to give me a refund, but told me that I was responsible for returning the product. I had to go purchase a box, pack it, and send it to them, even though the entire issue was their fault for sending me an open box product they had listed as new.

The vacuum part it self works fine but Im disappointed at the attachments this one I literally just used it one and the part that helps it glid started peeling off

I have long believed, perhaps incorrectly, that Dysons high prices were unwarranted given the how they performed against the competition. Although Dyson offered unique innovations, the performance differences did not justify the cost in my opinion. I disclose this information because I want you to know that I am NOT a Dyson shill or even a fan boy. This is my first Dyson and only purchased after EXTENSIVE research... and I do mean extensive. I spent hours watching and reading independent reviews. If you are reading this review, perhaps you are in the midst of the same exhaustive process. Maybe I can save you some time - STOP READING & CLICK BUY! Seriously! OK, if youre still reading... then you are definitely more like me (which may not be good). I was initially looking for 3 things when deciding what vacuum to purchase [1] cleaning performance - duh, [2] ease of use / maintenance, and [3] reliability. However, once I dove into the process, my list expanded to include [1] battery performance, [2] flexibility in application, and [3] fatigue considerations*. * - I wanted to consider fatigue because, if I was going to utilize the vacuum based on flexibility, I needed it to work flexibly but to do so practically. In other words, flexible application that would actually be used because it is designed well, balanced appropriately, etc. So all this led to the ultimate question... can this stick / battery powered vacuum replace my corded Shark? By the way, Ive owned many horrifically expensive vacuums in the past and came to the conclusion that I dont keep any longer than 5 years because of the advancements in cleaning. Well, I cannot answer whether or not this has fully replaced the Shark... but I can tell you that I am definitely leaning in that direction. [1] I use this vacuum daily - I NEVER did that with the corded vac. [2] This vacuum absolutely compares in cleaning performance - much to my surprise. [3] Not dealing with a cord is a HUGE benefit and one that I could never describe adequately. I didnt think so (intellectually), but WOW, and I mean WOW. It is really hard to imagine using the corded vac unless I absolutely must. [4] It is light, maneuverable, well-built, quiet, and easy to use. I have only been using this vacuum for a few days... so if things go sideways - I WILL BE BACK TO LET YOU KNOW! This isnt a cheap vacuum, so my expectations are that, properly maintained, it will not break or degrade in performance. I hope this helped. So long as this purchase will not harm you financially, I truly recommend this vacuum. If you have a lot of hard surface flooring, you may wish to consider one of the felt roller head attachments (3rd party offer some for about $60 as opposed to the Dyson at $130). I also purchased a trigger lock, to reduce finger fatigue during protracted vacuum sessions. And finally, an extension hose and extra filters. If you do purchase, make certain to watch some of the great videos on YouTube explaining how to pull apart the vacuum every 6 months or so (depending on usage) to super clean / maintain the system. This is my second dyson cordless vacuum. I have 4 dogs. After trying to go a cheap route after my first dyson bit the dust, I lasted less than a month before buying another Dyson. The suction and technology is unmatched. One of my favorite attachments is the small beater. It makes vacuuming the couch SO easy.

This is far superior than other brands I have tried! After a back injury, I have to have a lightweight vacuum. But other brands just didnt have the suction power, or the ease of use. I have two long-haired dogs, and this picks up fur easily... I use it on my carpets as well as my hard-wood floors. Separate brushes are perfect. Also, perfect attachments for use in my car or in tight places. Thanks so much for this great product. Ive recommended it to friends and family!

It’s great for my small apartment because I can just pick it up, vacuum, empty the full cartridge from vacuuming one room, and hang it back up. I am actually vacuuming as much as I should be where before I was not. I will say my hands do cramp if I use it too long. While it isn’t a lot of pressure to keep it on, it does take pressure. If holding your hand around a cup so you don’t drop it is difficult, this will be, too. However, I like that it turns off immediately if I need it to. So it’s fine. I also need to be mindful of what part of my hand is pushing the vacuum forward. I can get sore thumbs if I push where my thumb connects to my hand. If I push with my thumb pad, it’s all good. Changing the vacuum parts is a bit awkward and heavy. However, if you struggle with holding heavy objects while having to push buttons and pull at the same time, I suggest laying it on a table and that is much more doable. I can do it without the table, but why wouldn’t I when it’s there to help? XD I’ve had this vacuum for quite some time now (not a full year) and am very glad I purchased this. Hope this lasts me a long time!

Ive had decades of vacuums, including Kirby. This is the one Ive been waiting for. Light and powerful. Changing accessories couldnt be easier. The display on the end of the filter told me I had a plug in the wand and to clean the filter (also exactly how to). The suction grabs it all. The soft brush did a better job on fans and blinds than my shop vac. The charge lasts longer than my will to vacuum. My only negative is that I developed a blister on the inside of my index finger after first day use. The trigger might need a redesign. For now, I wear a glove.

We had Dyson corded yellow ball vacuum for more than 15 years. It is powerful, sturdy and effective for carpet cleaning. Drawback is also obvious, it is big, heavy, and has long cord to deal with. We also have Milwaukee M18 vacuum, which has really powerful suction but extremely loud. They both show their age compared to this latest battery powered V11 design. The weight and balance of V11 torque drive is perfect. It is much nimble and maneuverable than Dyson ball, also much quieter than Milwaukee M18 vacuum. It is lighter than either and I can clean up all three floors using V11 without feeling much of strain on my arm. Shorter brush head enables cleaning narrower places such as area under the seats, furnitures, corners, etc. The rotating brush is gentle to the hardwood floor. The Dyson ball also has rotating brush but I usually hesitate to turn it on when cleaning the hardwood floor, thinking its brutal power may cause damage. V11 seems to handle the hardwood without any issue. when on carpet it will automatically rev up and can also do a good job cleaning it. When use other heads for suction only, it is obvious that V11 has compromised on suction power compared to corded Dyson and Milwaukee M18 vacuum. For cleaning car seats and carpets I will still grab Milwaukee. But if I want to dust off my records and CD / SACD collections, the gentle touch of V11 is well appreciated. In terms of battery life, we can clean up the whole house, 1st, 2nd floors and basement (hardwood and laminated floors) with one charge. If we still have large area of carpets V11s battery life will likely be shorter, since its brush will rev at noticably higher RPM when it senses higher resistance on carpet. For our user case, this is perfect vacuum. Its light weight, ergonomics, shorter brush head, decent battery life make it constantly be grabbed for use at home. We cannot say the same for corded Dyson or Milwaukee M18. It is a true enabler for frequent daily cleaning. Very happy about this modern vacuum! Update: after 6 months of everyday use, Vacuum stuck turned-on while trigger not pressed. I noticed there is gap between handle and battery pack in the rear, and battery can be pushed up to close the gap and trigger will function fine. Removed three screws and take out the battery from handle, the trigger has linkage that will push down on a button located on the battery. the weight of battery is being supported by single small diameter screw (M3?) inside the handle that mount the trigger assembly (that the battery is attached to), apparently the handles plastic boss cannot take that constant pulling and the thread got stripped eventually. When battery is misplaced it will somehow being turned-on by itself. I added thread locker to the boss and temporarily fixed the issue, however, after a few weeks it became loose again. A larger size screw or molded metal thread insert should be used to support battery weight and constant pulling during the use. There are a lot of creative design ideas in this vacuum but this mechanical aspect presented some opportunity to improve for better robustness. I will try to use epoxy to permanently secure the screw in its boss and see if helps. I hope the later version with removable battery design will not have this issue.
