I added the Gorilla Lift to my 12 foot utility trailer along with the Jungle Jim Rapid Latch. The latch that was mounted on the top rail of the trailer had to be cut off in order for the Gorilla Lift and Jungle Jim to work. I cut it off with a 4 angle grinder and a cutting blade. After that was removed, it was pretty straightforward. You have to drill a lot of holes for everything to attach, so plan on spending several hours on this project. I think it took me 3 - 4 hours to attach both to my trailer. Im so glad I did. The trailer ramp is heavy, so the Gorilla Lift makes it so much easier to raise and lower. Now, I can just stand on the drivers side of the trailer, pull the handle on the Jungle Jim, and lower the ramp.

    Greater than one week

Instructions were very clear & I am able to raise and lower the gate with very little effort.

My end gate is home made, weighing about 250 pounds. This lift handles it with ease! Using a fish scale, the lift force is 11 pounds!!

The parts are top quality and the fit and finish are great! I found that I had to make some modifications to my trailer before installation that werent expected and that I only needed one lift. Installing two wasnt necessary but it wasnt covered in the instructions. I realize that they cant cover every situation but placement on the rail is critical and MUST be followed. Now that it is all installed and modified, it works like a charm! One finger moves the ramp up or down and it is literally effortless. Great product!

Likes - came as a two pack; easy to install, instructions were clear Dislikes - The provided bolts are longer than what I would have selected for mounting to the trailer. Note the bolts are metric thread. I was going to change them out for standards of a shorter size (as my local Lowes does not have a great inventory if any metric). Luckily, I brought a couple of the carriage bolts with me and figured out that on the closest standard thread, the square part of the carriage bolt on the metric bolt is smaller, so standard bolt would not work in the pre-drilled carriage bolt holes on the spring tubes. I stuck with the metric bolts but did change out the longer bolts on the gate end since they were not carriage bolt application. Also, my trailer has a dove tail and the side rails follow that drop so I ended up using spacers to support end closest to gate. No biggie and I knew this going into the purchase. Also, I added some chain link connectors to the trailer and positioned the gate locations a bit higher to allow for some adjustment if the spring wears. There are actually two springs in each tube, and I opted to use both versus trial and error of testing one then another. I am very satisfied with the purchase.

This was fairly easy to install with the right tools. Watch the YouTube video we found which had clear instructions (not a Gorilla lift company video). Only issue is that 2 bolts are in wheel well and one is in an rail support so we needed a 13mm deep socket. My trailer is 5x8 with a 4foot gate and only one is needed. Prior to this lift, I had to be careful of my back. Now I can almost lift this gate with what I call dishwasher foot lift. I can lift it with one hand, in stead of lifting and resting the gate on my hip and the bench pressing it the rest of the way. Now it is so easy, I have to make sure it doesnt get away from me and go too far forward which is not really an issue.

I needed something to allow me to continue using my utility trailer that has a heavy ramp/tailgate. The Gorilla Lift did the trick but it was pretty difficult to install on my round pipe rails. This was all made more difficult by the fact that I’m 75 and have a partially paralyzed hand. Once completed it works very well and I recommend it for us senior citizens. I had to purchase longer bolts to go through the pipe rail but that was the only problem.

At 63 years old, this makes closing a heavy gate a breeze. Well worth the money
