> 3 dayI have the version with two brightness levels. It clamps onto my Nook Touch reader well, and If I lift up the articulating lamp I can keep the light in place while closing the cover I use with my reader. I cant complain about the illumination which is bright and broad - especially compared to the single LED Nook light I was using before. I just had to change the batteries and was surprised at how fussy the procedure is. The battery compartment is held in place with a tiny screw, so you need a jewelers screwdriver. The batteries stack and you have to get the bottom one under a tab before you can add the second cell. Keeping the batteries in place while replacing the door and its screw is somewhat tricky. Im frankly disappointed that changing batteries requires a tool, requires removal of a small (easy to lose) screw, and it requires some artful reassembly technique. Considering how fast this light burns through batteries, youll need to change cells often enough that the poor compartment design is a problem. And youll need to carry a screwdriver to change cells when you travel. A second minor complaint is that I can fold the articulating arm down in contact with the reader and its hard to tell that the LEDs are on since the lamp head is opaque. This light would be improved if there was a translucent portion of the lamp assembly that would serve as an indicator lamp to warn you if the lights still on when the arm is folded flat.

06-06-2025Ozeri sends you an email, before the Kandle arrives, asking you not to post a review, if you are not satisfied, without talking to them first. Having tried to use the light, I can well understand that theyd be a bit worried about uncensored reviews. I was replacing a Mighty Bright, which, when used without a Kindle cover of some sort, has an irritating habit of simply slipping off the Kindle. No such problem with the Kandle. Although you cant clip it down far enough to feel it is really stable, without obscuring the Kindle screen, a friction pad does in fact prevent it from sliding off. But that wont be enough to prevent you from being only too happy to remove it yourself. The arm with the lighting is not long enough, nor are there any available angles, nor are the bulbs bright enough, to sufficiently illuminate the entire Kindle screen. The top third will be acceptably lit, the next third, barely well enough, and the bottom third will have you straining. And you will be unable to see the keyboard - did they simply forget you might want to see the whole screen, or type for searches or notes? And brightness? Not in this lamp. Aside from not being adjustable to an angle to cover the whole Kindle, this lamp is perhaps one-third as bright as the Mighty Bright (yes, on high). All in all, this lamp is the first good argument Ive seen so far for the Kindle having its own back-lighting, like an iPad or Nook (just a joke - of course that wouldnt work for e-ink). With this lamp, you WILL be able to read your Kindle in bright sunlight! Youd be better off, I suspect, simply igniting your $25 and reading by the glow.

> 3 dayI bought this to use with my 2nd generation Kindle. I think it is a lot nicer than those goose neck reading lights. The Kandle snaps securely on the device and doesnt seem invasive like the other light I have. I know that sounds odd, but Im sure theres someone who knows what Im talking about :-) The Kandle conforms to the shape of the Kindle, its relatively flat, the adjustable lamp stays in place and shines down the page. It isnt as bright towards the bottom, but thats to be expected. The Kandle burns through batteries so pick up a package of batteries if you get this.

Greater than one weekAt $20, the Kandle is probably the best reading light I have used. The three bulbs give even illumination across the screen and from top to bottom. The clip-on design is wide and provides a stable fit across the top of my Kindle. The gray color closely matches that of the Kindle. The design is very ergonomic and compliments the Kindle well. I have used various lighting solutions for my Kindle e-reader and found that the Kandle works best for me. Other worm lights and even the Kindle lighted cover do not illuminate as evenly as the Kandle. Pros: Easy use, even illumination, nice design, and long battery life. Cons: Doesnt use the Kindles battery but this is a fair trade-off.

> 3 dayNot much more to say that others havent said. Its smaller then you might think when compared to the photos on this site, and thats a positive in my view. I have it clipped on the top of my basic model Kindle. It provides more then enough light using just the low-level light setting. You can easily switch back and forth from high to low if necessary. You can read in total darkness without waking your spouse. It bevels up/down to eliminate any glare issues. And the coolest part for me is this; it makes reading more fun. From suspenseful to scary books, it helps create a nice reading atmosphere. For $20 buy it, I seriously doubt youll have any regrets.

> 3 dayThe Kandle II works wonderfully with my Kindle touch and is just what I was looking for. Please note that reviews stating that the light remains on when the unit is closed are NOT accurate for the Kandle II. Perhaps that is true with the Kandle, however the Kandle II very definitely shuts off when it is closed. In fact, the next time it is opened, the on/off switch must be re-activated for the light to come on. I love the fact that I can clip this light to any edge of my Kindle. This is particularly useful when I read in bed on my side. I would recommend this product to anyone.

> 3 dayI purchased a Kindle and as an afterthought purchased this light. I had heard family members saying if you have a Kindle you need a light. My mother has had two lights and evaluated many others as she seeks out the perfect light. When I got this one, I immediately called her to say how wonderful it is. I have seen hers and both have illuminated the screen unevenly. She has struggled with this. This light gives a very even glow for the screen. It is not too harsh or too soft. The other challenge for lights is how to attach them. This is perfect. It clips to the top of the device, does not get in the way, nor does it add any noticeable weight. It is the same color as my Kindle so it matches well to boot. The light comes with an extra set of batteries, a small screwdriver to remove the battery compartment, and a cloth draw-string bag to keep everything in. I will wait to see if it gets the advertised 25 hours of battery life. So far so good though. I would purchase it again and have recommended it to my mom. How much better can you get than that?

> 3 dayI enjoy having the light for the Kindle. Im spoiled with my other reader which has a back-light. This Kindle was a win from a website so I didnt get a chance to pick the one I wanted. However, the only complaints I have are these: (1) It is a bit hard to keep settled on my Kindle, and (2) the batteries burn out very quickly. I read more than most people--sometimes all night long. That means my batteries run out much to quickly. It seems the batteries fade quickly. I handled this by ordering a bunch of batteries (25) but it takes 2 to power the light. Otherwise, its so great to be able to read in the dark!

> 3 dayIm so happy with this light that I recently purchased a second one. I have a Kindle 3 and this light works beautifully with it. Is it brighter closer to the bulbs than the bottom of the page? Of course it is, but not by much. This light gives off plenty of illumination to read anywhere on the page. Im over 50 and struggle to see well in poor light, but I can read just fine with this. If you do happen to have trouble, simply re-orient your Kindle page to landscape and clip your light to the long side of the Kindle and youll be fine. Ive also used this light for reading a regular book in a car at night and it works well for that too.

> 3 dayIm not one to write reviews, in fact this is my first one ever, but I feel I must with a product as great as this. I was skeptical buying a book light at a hefty $25 price tag. But let me tell you it is absolutely worth the price. First off, the quality is fantastic. Im not sure about the other colors but this particular model has a nice matte finish which feel soft to the touch. The color also perfectly matches the kindle and they look like they were meant to go together. Next the size of the kandle is absolutely perfect. This thing is lite and I mean LITE. It feels like it has the same weight as a new chapstick. For something of its size its extremely thin. Unlike most other lights the clip is rather long horizontal instead of vertical. This ensures that it wont cover the screen on most e-readers. I imagine it would also work great for paperback books but I dont think it opens wide enough for thicker hardback books. Lastly, and most importantly the light coverage. Because the kandle has three, count them, three LEDs the coverage is even with no glare. With the mark II the kandle has two settings of brightness and I find even the lowest lights up the entire page more than sufficiently. Side note: The Kandle comes with an extra set of batteries and a nice soft pouch to store it in. These are only small things but it makes the experienced and product that much better. 5 Stars Well earned
